Madre Solo hay Dos (2021)
What happened with the scripts for Season 2???
Season 1 was really good, but season 2 seems cartoonish and the plot points get more absurd after every episode, the shows tries to change between lighthearted comedy and family drama by artificially pitting characters against each other the situations become more and more outlandish. It's a shame after a very strong first season.
Klaus (2019)
Talk about an instant classic!
Klaus is the definition of a a hidden gem, we could talk about the groundbreaking animation (handdrawn but with chi lighting that gives it that unique feeling) or the great cast, or the multicultural group of creators, but truly the story is to well told and captivating that nobody cares about all those wonderful things. Funny and emotional at the same time, it's been a while since I cried as much and ended with a bigger smile. A true gem
Undone (2019)
Visually stricken, weird, nerdy and amazing
As 99% of people I started watching for the visual part of it but the story, the execution and the whole dream like atmosphere made my wife and I binge watch it in a single afternoon.
Word of caution, do not equal the cartoony style with a light show, this will require you to pay attention but it definitely pays off
Nuestros amantes (2016)
The perfect example on why directing your own script is a bad idea.
Our lovers, at its core should be a light romantic comedy, that would aim to remind us of the wonders and excitement of newfound love. The problem comes with the way the characters interact, In a nutshell... nobody, and I mean Nobody talks like that. Every line is trying to be witty and cultured. Every 2 sentences the characters reference authors, painters and are more worried about showing their general culture and their art nuance that to actually communicate.
The acting is forced, but is not due to the actors, which in other media can and have delivered, but more due to the poor script and more than likely the fact than the director is also the writer.
As a summary, a great concept that was poorly executed and in hindsight, if you were to drink a shot every time a character casualty mentions a famous author, an awesome drinking game.
