Consuelo (2024)
Such a fantastic show!!
What a clean production, the scripts if funny and spontaneous!! The whole idea and concept are amazing, it takes you to an amazing place and makes you laugh, this is even a 1950s story that is totally progressive and breaks the novela or the same old style. This is a worldwide-class TV series in execution, production, and script!
It shows a real Mexico without drama or stereotypes. It shows a side of the high-class Mexico that we rarely see in TV series. I simply think that having a Mexican production with a 9+ on IMDb is fantastic!!!
Congratulations.
The only caveat, the kid who plays the son, needs to push himself and work harder for next season. His lack of acting techniques hurts the other Actors, to say the least, he is bad. But he will be fine if he pushes himself.
Hypnotic (2023)
It's totally a passion project.
So much talent trying to accomplish Robert Rodriguez's vision without any Hollywood studio-forced manipulative maneuvers.
When you have Robert Rodriguez as the lead in a project you know it going to be surprising for the worst or the best.
As soon you realized (before watching it) that they spend 70M and made 2M back, is obviously an "I want it this way" kind of project!
Now after watching it, it's entertaining but in an old scriptwriting style. I might be wrong but probably this idea was convinced in the late '90s.
If this movie was released in 1998 would be a massive success. But now it feels forced in some dialogues and rushed conclusions.
Now this isn't a bad film.
Photography is good, acting is solid in many parts.
I see this as a good individual effort that couldn't become a teamwork masterpiece.
20 years ago easily could compete with movies such as Memento or even Matrix. I applaud Robert Rodriguez to make it as he wanted without any 3rd party voices telling him what to do.
Separate all are good together is a 5-rate movie.
Entertaining, fun, and somehow surprising but as a 90's style movie is full of catchphrases and repeated circumstances. Just to have a "surprising" ending.
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (2023)
Another 1993 Disney Movies
I'm sick of the perfect dysfunctional white American family, destroying the powerful black man with no Latinos included!!!!
Let's waste money!! That should be the real name of this movie!!!
It sucks period!
The same old honey I think the kid's plot mixed with the same old Incredibles where suddenly the youngest of the clan figure if out how to be an expert under pressure. It's getting old. And please please, stop casting Black people as the bad guy and the white family that suddenly becomes the perfect team!! And what bout Bill Murray in his role unnecessary? The only good thing ill say is that Michelle Pfeiffer is looking better and better as she gets older.
For the most, it was predictable and bad.
Infinite (2021)
So many lives and the only thing we learn is being dumb.
The main character didn't remember. So his "friends" force him to remember where the weapon to destroy all lives on earth is... Why you don't let him not remember?
The bad guy wants to keep reincarnating so he wants to find the good guy to tell him where the weapon is. However, the bad guy holds a weapon that stops you from reincarnating.
Ohh if the good guys don't force the good guy to remember and the level guy shoots himself in the head all will be solved.
But no let's blow stuff and create unnecessary action and let's surround Mark Walberg with a lot of bad acting.
Characters are forced, let throw, and Asian are there just as a token, with no substance.
Let's have a special needs character, with no background. Let's just make a scene on Mexico so we can have at least a Latino as extra.
The reality is that the script is bad. Forced and feels like it's forced.
Too bad the director is really good but not on this one.
Mark is great. But not in this one.
It feels like a contract to do.
Too bad
I was expecting more.
El Rey: Vicente Fernández (2022)
It's a good intention.
The acting isn't wrong in the direction and overacting. The script is... Weird. Too many flashbacks, and too many time lapses.
And the camera and post don't go with the times that hurt the chronology of the story.
Anyway, it's a good try. Sadly another "ya merito", the script writer it's going back and forward with moments, not concepts and descriptions and don't deliver, it's becoming confusing. The language is flat. Not good, the language is good sometimes that works with the year of the story. But sometimes is just off. Anyway, most of those I watch feel it has 5 directors on each episode. Is a shame. I could be better. The first part of this review was after watching the first 2 episodes, I kept trying but it just got worst. Vicente the kid, is a bad bad script where are just flashes of dumb things. The young Vicente, is overacted and all the female actresses look like models and the guys look bad. Is unreal. I'm just saying to be able to hold before Jaime Camil appears. He could save it all.
This Fool (2022)
I'm Mexican and I live in California. It's offensive and non-cultural.
Where to start? What about showing the worst of the Mexican American culture? They're a language that isn't use since the '80s. Showing our culture and lack of consistency and emptiness. Being Latino isn't baggy pants and being lack of education. A portrait of a Latino like this is like a portrait of the old east LA. Just showing us criminals, and non-educated. Stupid and distracted without the possibility to improve whoever wrote this has a perception of showing the Mexican Americans as low class and with no future. This show is showing no improvement. I tried I can't stand it. I feel worst for the Americans that support this. Because they just keep seeing us as a second class. That is the message is sending.
Pinocchio (2022)
Is a fantastic piece of technology and color!!
This movie ain't for fundamentalists, this story is based on the original Pinocchio, not in the 1940's American adaptation. The work to make it look so "criticizable " is because it looks good.
We need to remember who Robert Zemekis is and understand he always will follow his true vision and that is why we love him.
I read the reviews and is ironic how this movie tells you not to succumb to the pressure created by your peers and everyone prefers to criticize instead of admire. Let me remind you this is Art and the visual conception of the artist is far more important than the critic that just sits 2 hours to watch and then just shames and talks nonsense.
I'll invite you to do an exercise, put the 1940 Disney original movie to a kid nowadays. He will be ignoring it or bored. This adaptation is in vogue and is focused on lasting 40 more years. Plus is ending (no spoilers) is and homage to the alternative Disney ending from 1940.
Last for not least look at other versions and learn to find the root before just following a trend of criticism, and if you don't like it, you are always welcome to write and adapt a film for yourself then put a budget together, and blow the the mind of every possible audience around the world as Mr. Zemekis and Mr. Hanks had done many times together.
Change is part of growing. Obtuse is a lack of culture.
This is Zemekis's vision. Embrace it.
Think about that for a second.
Nope (2022)
Nope... Nope... Nope
I don't get where 68M dollars went? Maybe 67M to his pocket because the movie isn't that expensive, unless he bought the ranch I don't get it. The movie is bad period. We can look deep and try to find a reason but ghianos his worst movie as director and writer.and I'm considering next to Keanu that was bad. The visual effects are ok, if this movie were released in 1968 next to The night of the living dead could be a classic but in 2022 where technology overcomes visual effects seeing this isn't 68 M.
Anyway I didn't like it.
