Prey (2017)
An absolute masterpiece
Prey has got to be one of the best games of this generation, maybe even one of my most favorite games of all time, the story of Prey is about a person, either male or female, named Morgan Yu, who inside a huge station known as Talos I, after an incident at some test, you wake up in your apartment, yet something is up, after escaping, you must pick up the pieces, find out what's going on, and escape, the story is great, there are really interesting twists during the story, characters, and mysteries, the sense of freedom, and exploration is very well done here, while you are in Talos I, you are given the opportunity to explore several open areas, where you can find hidden items, supplies, and side quests, speaking of side quests, there are quite a lot of them to do, they can vary from simply searching for someone to finding maps to a treasure, the quests are quite fun and varied, the gameplay is also amazing, gunplay is smooth, visceral, and intense, and the horror elements add a sense of desperation, intensity, paranoia, and helplessness, which makes the game even more heart-racing, the game is also challenging, this is not a game where you run and gun like in call of duty, you have to think before you act and pick your battles, and the the AI is really good with a few problems, and there are supplies such as ammo, medkits, food, notes, neuromods, key cards, and side quests that will give you an incentive to explore, speaking of neuromods, they can give you the ability to upgrade Morgan Yu, with perks such as Hacking and Repair to increased strength and health, giving more replay value to the game, if you just do the story, it could probably be around 15 hours, but doing all side quests, exploring every nook and cranny around Talos I etc., will bring that up to 40 hours, with massive replayability through different builds and critical choices you make throughout the game, my playthrough was around 30 hours, but I still had several side quests and places that I haven't fully explored, this is a game that must be played and that is absolutely worth your time and money
Mass Effect (2007)
A Good but flawed RPG
Mass Effect 1 is a solid RPG, the story is gripping, and fantastic, the characters and the dialogue are well-written and the decisions you make affect the story, and the Paragon/Renegade system is solid, lets you make decisions based on your personality, the graphics, although a little outdated, look pretty decent, and the ending you get is satisfying, gameplay is fun, and fast-paced, although there are some problems, the controls feel clunky especially on the UI, and the handling for the Macco is clunky as well, the vehicle just feels weighty, and when you fight enemies with it, it can be a pain in the butt to handle it, and the inventory system is frustrating, it's constantly cluttered with upgrades, weapons, armor, etc., that you don't really need, and in order to prevent it from filling up, you have to get rid of some of them, which can be frustrating as well, the galaxy map feels a little generic and boring, you go to a cluster and then you go to an area within that cluster, once you go in there are a certain number of planets that you can survey for resources or there is a planet that you can land on, but overall the exploration is decent, minus the galaxy map, side quests are pretty good, and leveling up is satisfying, but the skill tree is overly complicated, overall the game is good but not great, if you're looking for a good RPG with an amazing story, 30-40 hours of content plus massive replay value, and good gameplay, then Mass Effect 1 is right for you, despite it's flaws
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (2011)
The best game I have ever played.
Skyrim is one of those games that reminds me why I love videogames, while the graphics might not be amazing, they're still pretty decent, lots of detail, decent lighting, a variety of locales, and great detail on the dungeons, weapons, and enemies. The story is great, it has that classic "you are the chosen one" story, there is a ton of lore and really interesting stuff in it, and you get to know some really cool characters, the main quest line can be beaten in like 8 hours, but here's the thing, you don't have to do the main quest line, you can branch off and do side content, and not notice it for hours on end, the world is huge and open, want to go discover some place you haven't been to, go there, and there is a ton of stuff to do, there are dungeons, side quests and questlines, etc., the gameplay is fantastic, it's fun, satisfying, and rewarding, not to mention that it's not just set to one character class, you can be a warrior, and fight with magic spells from time to time, and the weapons aren't just some boring weapons, most of them have really interesting stats, and the armors have really good stats and buffs as well, and this game is massive too, you'll get hundreds of hours from this game through dungeons and side quests, which is a great bang for your buck, all I can say is, get this game, YOU ABSOLUTELY NEED TO!
Destiny (2014)
It's okay but it could've been so much more
Destiny could've been so much more, it was going to be this groundbreaking game with massive open worlds and revolutionary gameplay as it was advertised, but once it came out, it was a shell of what it could've been, The story, there is none, who is The Fallen, who are The Awoken, who are the Hive?, what is a Guardian, what are the origins of the Traveller, none of this is explained in the actual game, it's all in the Grimoire, why Bungie could've better explained the story?, who knows. The gunplay is pretty good, it feels smooth and fast-paced, the strikes are really good as well, bosses are fun as well, with that being said, the loot system is absolutely broken, giving you jacks**t while your friends or teammates get awesome loot, and once you find engrams after many hours of grinding that you're hopeful will be good, they end up being crappy, the loot system screws you over, missions are extremely repetitive, kill a bunch of aliens, scan something, then kill more aliens, rinse and repeat, the open worlds feel shallow, empty, and lifeless, , colorful and full of detail, there aren't much enemy variety, PVP is fun, it's complete BS that you have to grind so much to progress after lvl 20, all in all this game isn't bad, in fact it's an enjoyable game, but it could've been so much more
Forza Motorsport 3 (2009)
This game is a masterpiece and the epitome of all racing simulators
Forza 3 is a game that I will always remember, this game gave me many memories during my childhood, the graphics have a ton of detail and are amazing, the extensive amount of tracks and cars are jaw-dropping, 400 cars 400 CARS!!!!!!!!, and the gameplay is fun and addictive, the just one more mentality is the case with this game, the leveling up system adds a significant hook to the game as it gives you an increasing amount of money per level and you get a free car, FREE CAR!!!!!!!, the customization is very addictive, while I was playing the game I wanted to customize every car, and there is a crap load of events, this game can go to 200 hours! if you do everything, that is totally getting your money's worth out of this game, and there is a wide variety of cars and tracks, I can go for hours talking about this game, but to sum it up, buy this game, you will not regret it! And to Microsoft, make this game Backwards compatible, please do!
Forza Motorsport 5 (2013)
The worst of the series, but still really good
Forza 5 is the worst game in the series, but it's still a great game, the graphics are gorgeous and the sound is amazing, though the game doesn't have as many tracks or cars as the previous ones, it still has a wide variety of them, but the tracks can get repetitive, the gameplay is fun yet a bit tedious at times, leveling up in this game is quite watered down to just gaining 35K credits per level, and it doesn't go up that's all you get, there is no free cars or more money just 35K credits, and the championships seem a bit simplified as it's not in a calendar and let's you choose a variety of events that you want to do, it's just a generic race list per championship, and you only get 12K credits per championship, and the worst of all is that there is no auction house, NO AUCTION HOUSE!, the multiplayer is almost dead, and there is no auction house so online mode is useless, but there is quite a lot of content, so far I had put 55 hours and I haven't beaten the career mode, yeah that's long, this is a fun game, is it perfect? no, is it bad? no, it's a really good game with some flaws, I bought the game for $13, $13 for i believe is probably gonna be 110 hours of content is a great bang for your buck, but it's more simplified than the previous games, but it's still a really good game
BioShock (2007)
One of my most favorite games of all time
This game is fantastic period. An excellent story that is gripping, dark, disturbing and unpredictable. The atmosphere is amazing, creepy, tense and the 60's style is great. Graphics are great even to this day, yes it looks a little dates now, but it still looks amazing. The sound and music are phenomenal, creepy and disturbing sounds from the diaries and the environment and the enemies, music is great as well giving the game a great sense of immersion. Gameplay is great yet flawed, you have two types of gameplay In both hands, on one hand you got your primary weapons such as a shotgun, machine gun, wrench, pistol etc., and on the other are your plasmids, which are these abilities that you use to stun or kill enemies, there are a wide variety of plasmids such as shock, fire, ice, telekinesis etc., the great thing about the gameplay is that it's varied and open, what I mean by that is that there are many options at your disposal, maybe you want to hack a security bot that can help you out on fights, or you want to electrocute enemies in water, it's all up to you, also you can explore across open areas, if you do, then you increase the length of the game, my playthrough was around 14 hours which is a pretty good length, the gameplay is a little clunky, but it doesn't hinder the experience, BUY THIS GAME!
