An Evening with Godsmack (2006)
Godsmack rocks!
This way too short DVD is an excellent example of the complexity and diversity that is Godsmack. The setting is intimate - at The House of Blues in Vegas and it couldn't have been a better place for this "acoustic" set. These guys are some of the best musicians I've seen. I've never been to one of their live shows but I can certainly see why everyone would want to go after viewing this DVD. The funny part about it is, the DVD came as a bonus with my CD. I listened to the CD and never thought too much about watching the DVD until several weeks later on a night when there was nothing on TV or in my DVD collection of movies that I felt like watching. I popped it in thinking that it would be one of those "bits and pieces" video-thingies that get boring after five seconds. Boy, was I wrong! I watched it twice the first night. (I would have watched it again but it was late and I had to get up early the next day.) The next night I watched it three times in a row and then started picking out and playing my favorite parts. If you're a die-hard Godsmack fan, you must get this DVD. Even if you aren't, you will become one if you watch this concert on video.
Strange World (1999)
Great show - same, sad ending
It's too bad that great shows like this one and other great sci-fi shows are tossed to the side by executives who don't or won't give them a chance to catch on like the X-files did. This one went the same way that Firefly, Surface and Invasion did and I, personally, think it STINKS! I realize that the execs for "free" TV have to make sure that the shows are going to attract advertisers in order to pay for them but, dang, it gets very frustrating to have it pulled just as you're really getting into it. Does anyone else out there feel the way that I do? Please post your comments here or on the Firefly section of IMDb. Thanks!
Serenity (2005)
Excellent!
I have just watched this movie again on HBO and I still love it! I loved the series and was sad to see it canceled. I really enjoy everything about it - the witty word play, the drama, and the dysfunctional "family" of characters. These characters have such heart. The scenery, the music, the dialog, the attention to detail just impress me beyond what I can describe. I have gotten attached to several TV series in the past but this is the first one that I have ever bought on DVD so that I can watch it over and over again. The movie brought some closure to the series but I would like to see it continued.
