Aparição (2018)
Slow, and overall badly acted
Same problem as with most Portuguese movies: they get the pace all wrong. Some scenes are so unnecessarily long that they feel like the director ran out of ideas and decided to just waste some time. Acting is below par, specially Jaime Freitas. He sends out the gloomy mourning vibe alright, but with awkward dialogue with confusing emotions. I'm fact, dialogue suffers from the same ailment as most Portuguese movies: they're too theatrical, and mostly sound like they're declaiming something rather than interacting with each other. Didn't love the book, movie didn't make me like the story any better.
Se7en (1995)
Great fim, but...
Undeniably a good movie with a clever plot and a that kind of ending that completes the circle. The mystery/crime part of it is flawless. I just missed a bit more of character development from all 3 main characters and also more for the relationship between the two cops.
*BIG SPOILER BELOW*
In the end I just felt like "oooh clever, he made Mills fulfil his plan". I would have liked to really personally feel Mills tragedy or Tracy's loss. But the film failed to create that kind of empathy for me.
We Summon the Darkness (2019)
Reminded me of knock knock
... and both movies were a waste of time. Psycho hot chicks, try to kill dudes for no good reason. The end.
