Critics be damned, this show was fun
9 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Love and Thunder had a ton of humour and a dash of heart. The jokes were silly throughout, it felt like a past phase marvel movie in a great way. The ending was not perfect but I felt that they it could have been a challenging film to wrap up, simply because we want to have more time to have fun with these characters. I could understand the disappointment in this movie as we don't quite get to see Dr. Fonda to carry on the mantle of Thor. In the comic book world though anything can happen or reinvent itself. It was obvious the director had a ton of fun making this movie and I feel it will be appreciated more in years to come.

The Gray Man (2022)

Fun action movie.

The plot of this movie had sole purpose. It was to do some crazy action, and it delivered. There weren't to many points where I felt they reinvented the wheel, but I love how they did the fight/action sequences in this show. You could actually see the choreography without a bunch of quick cuts and shaky cameras. This movie had me say woah! This movie had me grinning a lot at the screen so I'll give it a good rating. Love the Russo bros, and this one didn't disappoint. The Gossman delivered and Evans was hilarious as a whack job bad guy. Armas was also a badasss. This Netflix movie felt like a true popcorn theatre pic.

Undeniably Fun

This movie reminds me of when blockbusters were awesome. Some breathtaking scenes, the plot sort of takes a back seat to the visuals. I felt a bit weird about how ICEMAN a was used in the movie. I rewatched the original about a week before and the 2nd movie actually does a better job progressing through the story, and much better action sequences. The original was great for what it was but the second truly demonstrates what todays technology can offer. Even if it it was with older planes that what the military is actually using today.

The Batman (2022)

Not your grandpappys Batman!
27 March 2022
I enjoyed this movie BUT the one major criticism I have was it reminded me of too many other great (not Batman) movies and Its paced very slow. I laughed out loud at parts that weren't intended to be funny, particularly The Batman and Jim Gordon's back and forth whispered dialogue that seem to go on for hours, when discussing the riddlers crimes. Patterson is a fine Batman, but the Penguin is done in Masterclass fashion. The riddler performance, oh how I hated the Riddler so much in this movie. The reason I went 7, not 6 is that I'm truly interested in seeing more of this new Gotham. This movie stays in my head despite not loving it. So much was done well here, cinematography and tone of the movie was amazing. I can see why people would love this film and why one would hate it. Going again to a positive, is I do appreciate that this movie does demonstrate a hero film does not have to be cookie cutter, though they did sort of do the 'oh no, big catastrophe coming' near the end of the movie. Maybe a mini series format with this sort of storytelling would be better? I could go on about some long cuts in the film that could have been easily cut out entirely, or resolved with a quick line somewhere else in the movie to reduce runtime. This movie cut down to two hours could have been near perfect.

Great work by Judd, touching doc
28 March 2018
Being a bit too young to know Garry in his prime, I learned first of Shandling in Apatow's great jam packed interview book 'Sick in the Head.' The interview alone was enough to get me to check out the Larry Sanders show, watch old late night interviews on YouTube and invest time in Shandlings career..

This documentary expanded on the life of Garry Ten-fold in a truly beautiful and touching way. Judd has done a respectable and thorough job in showing us the life and mind of a comedic genius. I'll rewatch this one again for both entertainment and inspiration. Thank you Judd.
