Taggart: The Hit Man Part One (1992)
Sophomoric episode
Somewhat promising story which was stretched out far too long with some loose ends. Actually we find the later, shorter series much more believable and we'll written. The Hit Man ending was very silly and unrealistic. One wonders if the writer and director watch the finished product. As an aside, how would a person imprisoned for four murders be released from prison?
American Graffiti (1973)
A Favorite
The first time my wife and I saw this film we were blown away. We were in high school in California in the early 1960's, and this film was so accurate to that time. The clothes styles, slang and dialogue are just right on the mark. From Candy Clark's dress, sweater and hair style to Richard Dreyfuss' madras shirt and blue tennis shoes. As a movie the various situations were often humorous and emblematic of the time. The soundtrack was good and definitely a first for a continuum of songs throughout the movie. Though it did seem like much of the music was from the 50's. The ending Beach Boys song seemed more of that time. Of course in 1964 The Beatles hit the radio and music dramatically changed.
Also of interest were all the future stars that appeared in the movie. Bottom line, this period piece was so relevant to both of us and also a very enjoyable movie.
The Missing (2014)
Too long
Simply far too long and drawn out. But probably tough to make any story extend over 8 hours without many protracted and seemingly unnecessary subplots. The ending was rather preposterous. The production and acting were good. Unfortunately the series should have been much shorter.
The Tunnel: Episode #3.6 (2018)
Implausible
Very implausible. Kept watching each episode hoping for some logical explanations. But some scenes never did make much sense or were simply unrealistic. Generally unsatisfying.
Sea Patrol (2007)
OK
Series initially was fairly entertaining. But as the seasons progressed some episodes were unrealistic, often forced and silly. As an aside, there are apparently ten additional crew members that are rarely seen but never heard or included. Probably because a speaking role requires higher pay!
Sea Patrol: Guns (2009)
Unrealistic
Like this series, but a few of the recent episodes have been rather unrealistic. This particular one had numerous unexplained plot lines. And in general this episode and others make the crew and officers seem incompetent. Apparently so they can bump into dangerous and "exciting" situations. One long running question, I think the ship has a crew of over 20, but only the same ten are always shown. Are the others holed up somewhere below deck?!!
Blue Heelers: Dangerous Animals (2005)
Silly and unrealistic
Seriously, Baxter escapes and somehow knows where Tom's grandkids are. Wouldn't the Melbourne police have initiated a manhunt to find the escapee? Looks like the Keystone Cops. Moreover there is a wildlife refuge holding lions and assumably other dangerous animals with little security and apparently no personnel to manage. Thus two kids easily enter, and no one but Mt Thomas police are available to track lion. Guess these type of terrible storylines resulted in low ratings.
No Offence: Episode #2.7 (2017)
Silly
The entire season was too long about one convoluted case. The police often come off as the Keystone Cops. And the final episode was so preposterous and generally unrealistic that it played like a parody
No Offence: Episode #1.8 (2015)
Unreal
Pretty silly and contrived ending. Apparently to make episode more exciting. And are all the police liars! In reality this particular case should not have been stretched over eight episodes. Had to have other cases to fill in the time.
Silent Witness: Falling Angels: Part 1 (2015)
Unrealistic
Somewhat interesting story, but far too many holes. As usual you have to swollow a lot to see the pathologists seemingly leading the police investigation. The ending totally unbelievable. One detective chasing the two criminals to the subway then instantly police at every exit. And seriously, the two criminals are not arrested!! Find it hard to believe anyone would rate this a ten.
Waking the Dead: Substitute: Part 2 (2009)
Silly ending
As usual, these episodes are often too long. This particular one had an interesting first part and a totally unbelievable second half and pretty much nonsensical ending. It's a wonder the writers/director don't actually realize that.
Rush: Episode #1.4 (2008)
Not very good
Apparently this episode was about police incompetence. And quite unrealistic.
Cold Case: The Woods (2005)
Not a good one
Usually a pretty good series, watching on ROKU Channel. However this episode was pretty contrived with a far-fetched and predictable ending.
Silent Witness: Voids: Part 2 (2010)
Rather Implausible
This episode full of plot holes and unbelievable scenarios. Obviously many shows are overly dramatic, but I hope to see a little bit of realism.
Waking the Dead: Walking on Water: Part 1 (2003)
Not a good one
A convoluted episode with plot holes, loose ends and some very silly, unbelievable scenes. And of course a seemingly dysfunctional department with an arrogant Chief Superintendent. His character and personality do get tiresome. Just not very good IMO.
