A Royal Christmas on Ice (2022)
Awful, awful acting, cute story
The story is a spin on the royalty, post-injury ice skater, and failing business tropes, but it works. The acting, with the exception of the small role of Stephen Baldwin and the promising actor in the lead male role, is inexcusably terrible. Everyone either over or under acted. I could hardly get through it, and my expectations for these movies is pretty low.
It also seemed incomplete, because the rest of the royal family was set up to be revisited, but wasn't. That part of the story was just dropped. They rushed to the unrealistic and unbelievable ending.
Not to be picky, but they could have spent an extra 15 minutes to teach them to ice a cupcake. That was ridiculous.
Don't waste your time.
The Gray Man (2022)
High on action, low on story
If you want to see constant violence and killing and explosions and chases, but don't care about story or script, this is for you. If you're watching it for RJP, you'll be disappointed - his part is not substantial and could have been done just as well with any number of actors. The sequences are completely unrealistic.
Barefoot (2014)
Awful script
Everything is great about this movie except the actual story. There was just nothing redeeming about Scott Speedman's character. So hard to root for him. This could have been wonderful.
Persuasion (2022)
Think "interpretation" of Persuasion
If you're expecting a movie version of the book, you'll be disappointed. If you movies that break the 4th wall, don't watch. But if you enjoy a fun adaptation based on the novel, this is for you. I enjoyed it. With one exception, the casting was wonderful, especially Henry Golding. The main problem was the casting of Wentworth. The actor nailed the brooding aspect, but otherwise had no chemistry with Dakota Johnson. I wanted to swoon, but only Henry Golding managed that!
A Christmas Star (2021)
So much wrong
So disappointing. I don't expect much from these movies, but this one was not good. The story was okay up until the leading lady gives up on her career goal because the cute guy was cranky. The acting was absolutely flat. Daniel Lessing is usually so good, but this wasn't his best. I don't blame him, I blame the writer and director.
A Wedding for Christmas (2018)
Awful acting, hardly any Christmas
The two stars are fir the story itself. With better production and an actress who can actually act, this would be a better than average Christmas movie. The leading man was very good, as was The lovely Ms Fox, but the lead was terrible and the rest were so-so.
Worst of all, despite being a Christmas theme, there was one Christmas event and horrible decorations. Dollar Store red tinsel garland. Mediocre wreaths.
Not to mention the weather. Expecting a snow storm, yet everyone was dressed for early Fall. A Christmas wedding with the maid of honor in a beige dress with a pink shrug that didn't match.
Please have Hallmark take this script and remake this movie.
