Wow, how awesome was this series! The story was captivating and characters compelling. The animation was subtly varied but was spot on in the story-telling. Historically, even though fictional, it was in the ball park. It was well researched, and even though I am no expert, it was relatively accurate with the historical details. The music score was almost perfect. I am a bit pedantic and prefer period music of the period being presented, this is my only slight complaint; however, being 'slight' modern music only came into it a couple of times but at least where from Japanese artists. The rest of the score was traditional style Japanese and exciting and really built the scenes. Of course there were some, if not quite a few, unrealistic moments, but hey, it's animation.

It is very adult, but the scenes were well crafted and used appropriately to add to the story.

Can't wait for season 2 and more.

Endlessly funny

A great comedy of an ordinary misfit in an extraordinary world. Incredibly easy to binge watch this developing story filled with adult comedy.

Incredibly relieved to find the characters represented everyday folk and not barbie ken stereotypes with a sidekick. In saying that, the acting held it's own.

My only fear is for season two. I felt tinges of melodrama dropping in towards the last couple of episodes. My fear is that Emma Moran may fall into Seth's "The Orville" trap and feel the need to tackle some topics more seriously which will threaten the whole comedic value of the show. I sincerely hope not as I found season 1 of the Orville to be really enjoyable, season 2 it struggled yo decide whether it was a comedy or space soap opera, now I just don't watch it. Please Extraordinary, stay a true comedy!!

Entertaining, worth it
29 September 2022
Really enjoyed this flick and have no idea what all the bad reviews are about, was almost not going to watch it because of them but glad I did watch it. It was a bit slow to start off with and maybe could have been chopped a bit. Some events seem a bit trivial, but given some thought, they are helpful in explaining the characters.

As for the movie itself - These days it may be considered a modest budget for a feature flick, in saying that: well acted, good cinematography, captivating and relatively new plot and I appreciated the new take on the bad guys.

My advice to you, don't listen to the bad reviews and give this movie a go, you may be pleasantly surprised.

Outstanding
25 September 2022
I found the first episode a little dull but still enjoyable. However, by the end of the third I have been greatly entertained. The acting is tight, the cgi is fantastic, script is well thought out for each character and the production is blockbuster movie quality.

Only having read and watched the LOTR and the hobbit I was unsure of the plot but it is building and engrossing!

There is even a slightly more accurate of orcs and there detest for something that is in the books which was nice to see.

Overall, this, so far is an excellent portrayal of Tolkien's Middle Earth and I am greatly looking forward to the rest.

Enjoyable and a bit different
15 August 2022
After the first two episodes, I have found them quite enjoyable to watch. Doesn't seem to have quite the same budget as the original, but that's fine. The acting was decent and the plots were engaging, even if the second one did seem to leave the reality of the premise of the originals, but then again, how realistic are zombies.

Good value prequel.

Enjoyed it throughout.

But I just have to ask this, nothing to do with the movie, but the reviews - who writes "One use of the Lord's Name." = I mean for god's sake, give it a rest!!

Thoroughly enjoyable

I've noticed on IMDB there seem to be a lot of people that start to cringe at the slightest hint of something being "woke, political correctness" etc etc and will just punish the show with their rating.

Well, sorry if for those reviewers that want to live on a crappy planet and feel pained by modern sensibilities. In the meantime, this was just an enjoyable series, great scenery, fantastic acting and it was around the world in 80 days.

Black and White and Red
22 December 2021
First annoyance - the colour scheme Black, white and shades of red. I wish the arty farty types would just keep their inane stupid art ideas to themselves and just colour it. The Warhammer Universe is awash with colours and textures, hell, GW probably makes half their money off the large array of paints they have. Whoever came up with the idea that "Oh, it's Blood Angels so the only colour we will have is red" should never touch Warhammer again.

Second - animation needs a bit of work to make it more natural, it's quite stiff, especially for facial expressions and speech.

The dialogue is fine to good, along with the storyline. It does capture the blood angels controlling their inner rage. Although at times it is a battle within, to focus their rage, so obviously is within 40k lore

If it wasn't for the first complaint, I would have scored this much higher.

A well produced series/movie is something the Warhammer fan base has been waiting for, for a long time. Next time, if there is one, just do it without the arty farties and bring out the real Warhammer Universe.

How much drivel and annoyance
13 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I was sorely disappointed by this series. Granted I just turned it on when he started speaking about the Big Bang. Brian made an explosive statement that they now have a theory about before time began - and that is as far as that went - very hollow. The show just went on to an explanation of the already well known theory of the Big Bang, the only difference was that Brian referred to it as a speck. The show is filled up with as many adjectives, metaphors and long winded fancifully colourful language with a fact strewn in once and occasionally. Not to mention the tried effect of whimsical irrelevant music trying yo be ethereal - please, NO! I couldn't watch the whole episode as much as I love a good universe documentary. This was closer to a frustrating art student armed with a thesaurus explaining science in a most annoying way and when unable to make it inspiring they throw in the worst annoying music ever.

Wow, was I surprised, love this series. CGI is great, awesome jazz sets the mood, acting is definitely Cowboy Bebop, lots of wit and humour along with the expected violence.

This is not a bad animation, some of the reviews on here are too harsh. The animation is pleasant and atmospheric, although the characters are a little stiff. The plot is well thought out and intriguing. I'll definitely watch t all.

Well worth the Alien franchise
11 November 2021
Really enjoyed this Alien movie and a clearer bit of story telling than Prometheus (which was also a pleasure to watch) Couldn't understand it's under performance at the box office.

Couldn't get through Episode 1
6 October 2021
This show was just outright annoying, the characters unbelievable, the script was flawed, the cgi were ok sometimes, other times Asylum could do a better job. It was such a shame that someone had wasted money on this which, in reality, could have been an interesting Jules Verne-esque fantasy plot.

What happened to AHS
19 August 2021
American Horror Story was great, thoroughly enjoyed them, this though????? They are pretty much stand alone episodes, fair enough, but really, the first 4 were tacky, teeny, overly predictable and boring. Episodes 5 and 6 were a bit better, possibly 5 the best so far. Overall they have a feeling of very low budget 80 horrors.

Thought it was something different
4 August 2021
I initially thought that this series was going to be a remake of Fantasy Island but more intriguing and out there with a comedy slant. I was wrong, more like dysfunctional wealthy people, starting to get bored. Others though may enjoy it.

Could be better
4 June 2021
A lot of 1 stars on here which is a very misleading, one would have you think an Asylum production was better. In reality, for the most part the CGI/effects were quite good, where it was let down was in the script and some of the acting was a bit over the top or poorly executed. There were a couple of scenes where I thought, no, that doesn't make sense but just thrown in to tie the plot along. However, an entertaining film.

After the first episode I was a bit "ho hum" and would have been 6 stars, but the story really picked up and a great binge lifting it up to 8 stars.

Not Bad Not Great
6 May 2021
I think the reviews on here have been a bit harsh but it is worth a bit of a watch. Some of the script writing and acting is a bit hammy, but the overall plot is fine so far (half way through season 1). The FX are decent and sets are decent at all. The other reviews make it sound like an Asylum production, but it is definitely far better than that.

The CGI was decent, the acting was average, a bit stale at times and the script could have done with a bit more polish, but overall it was a decent flick

Was this written and acted by people stupider than zombies?
26 November 2020
You know when (at the time of review) there are 18 10 stars and 334 1 star that something went terribly amiss. What is sad is that the writers just don't respond and keep dribbling out the same crap - melodramatic teens that, if they are the first generation after the zombie apocalypse, then the human species is bound for extinction. This is followed by bad acting, except for the occasional zombie and poorly written script. if it doesn't get canned it will be surprising if it makes it past season 2.

Would have given it 9 but...
26 November 2020
Great intriguing series that really builds on the Star Trek story. The only thing is, does there really have to be so much crying or nearly crying, it occurs in every episode! It's hard to believe that a starship could operate with so many sentimental, fragile officers that need to have a cry. Oh well, still a good series to watch though.

Sunday afternoon viewing
3 October 2020
Not a bad flick, but not noteworthy either. The effects were decent and gave it a proper sci-fi setting. The Dialogue was wanting, and to be honest, too much crying going on, far too much! It is one of those sci-fis were you have to ignore the science, just accept the plot holes the inaccuracies make. The acting was pretty stiff. It tried hard and probably the effects were the best feature of the film - which is a bit worrying. All in all though, still gets a 5 for a Sunday afternoon which is a pass and not a complete fail

A bit o fun
21 August 2020
Don't know what all the harsh reviews are about. After reading them I was expecting absolute rubbish but thought I would give it a go. It's not fantastic but but it is enjoyable. Its obviously having a bit of fun around star trek and it's an animation so what would you expect? I would actually consider it better than the Orville which after a few episodes became too melodramatic, I can't see that happening here.

All aboard!
20 May 2020
Wow, don't understand all the poor reviews and poor assumptions. I really enjoyed the movie (7.1 rating far to low for it) and I was wondering how they were going to turn this into a tv series. I thought starting with a homicide investigation was a good way to start introducing characters, and this is only the surface plot and a means to a later obvious insurrection. Sure there are some "how and whats" as to do with a society on a train, but I can live with that, just about every sci-fi has them. I'll be waiting to get on board for the next episode

Definitely even getting better. Still absolutely bewildered by all the negative comments including the comparison that in the original movie the lead was played by a white guy and now a black actor in the lead in the series is somehow not suitable, WTF (calling out racist bigot there!); it's too PC, WTF, most Sci Fi's are, beginning with the original Star Trek; it's a detective on a train = WTF, the second episode is certainly pointing towards a far more complex plot; the whole concept is implausible - wake up, its a sci fi, at least they are letting little gambits out explaining how and why the train operates; "The 100" 7.7 rating, Snowpiercer, 6.1 = is this really a demonstration of the cognitive deficiency of the aforementioned raters?

Starts well but then
9 April 2020
I would've given the first half of the movie 5-6 stars as it was written, directed and acted to at least that level and for a low budget movie I was feeling quite pleased that I gave it a shot, but then the second half of the movie, OMG, what happened? It just descended into absolute crap - I need someone to explain it to me
