Fabulous - but why the bad reviews?
7 April 2023
Don't understand the negative reviews shown here. Guess these watchers are impatient and don't have the best taste in discerning what's good or not.

The acting to me was excellent, though not all that well known and played the characters very well, keeping the viewer interested to continue with each episode.

Great plot and story-line. Love stories about the native Americans but feel sad as to what history shows us concerning the eventual outcome of their situation. Terrible shame to destroy their fascinating culture, but typical of what the British settlers did to them and other original inhabitants of the country.

I enjoyed it immensely and was glad to know that a second season was available.

Highly recommended.

Top Series
7 April 2023
Very enjoyable series. Great acting and story-line. Helen Mirren is always good in everything she does. Harrison Ford still has it even though he's in his eighties. Wonderful pictures of the country-side back in those days. Keeps you wanting more and had me looking forward to next episode. Liked it much more than Yellowstone due to the better acting and interesting plot with its twists and turns.

Impossible to get bored watching this I can assure you.

Disappointed it ended so soon.

Seems Taylor Sheridan is very good at his job, based on the many series he's produced and directed.

Hope there's going to be a season 2.

Alaska Daily (2022–2023)

I LOVED THIS SHOW - FABULOUS!!
1 April 2023
1 April 2023 What a pleasant surprise I received watching Alaska Daily. I've seen it display on IMDB and noticed glimpses of references to it often when I'm browsing, looking for something gritty and meaningful to watch. However even though it's been out since last year I never really checked into the story-line and cast before yesterday and started reading the reviews for it.

The fact that Hillary Swank plays the lead role should have rang alarm bells in my mind reminding me about how great an actor she is but I think the title of the series itself kept putting me off, as well as some of the mediocre reviews.

Still, I went ahead and streamed it, ending up watching the entire 11 episodes all of last night, which, needless to say, caused me to go to sleep at 10.30am and get up today at 1.30pm. Tired today but don't mind because I couldn't get enough of this great and meaningful series so had to see it through to the end.

The acting by everyone in the cast was, to me, first class and yes, some of the faces looked familiar.

Let me tell you, this is an extremely enjoyable experience to watch and had me feeling rather emotional at times, as well as the enjoyable tidbits of comedy and off-the-cuff remarks, to say nothing about how important the subject of the show is really about. I really hope something gets done and reforms become put in place to help the Native American Women situation in that area, and everywhere I imagine throughout the USA.

I live in Australia so perhaps I don't even have the right to comment, however I urge anyone reading the reviews page to skip over the medium or lower ones because this is a high quality show and I gave it 10 out of 10. Just wish there was a second season available.

Will Trent (2023– )
10/10
TOP SHOW - GREAT CHARACTERS - GREAT ACTING
18 February 2023
I totally LOVE this new series.

Ramon Rodriguez was unknown to me but his performance as Will Trent is rather captivating in my opinion. I like the addition of Will being Dyslexic and love his Georgia accent.

It's not like other Crime Detective shows because it has heart, humor and interesting references throughout. For example in Ep.5 there's a short sequence of delightful repartee quips between Will and his sidekick detective, Faith, when a background song is playing, which is "She's Gone" by Hall & Oates. Will comments "that's the greatest breakup song ever", Faith says "not even top 3". Will - "do you even know this song"..Faith says "of course, my father owned a record store". Will - "Nevertheless, your opinion is incorrect, it's this, plus Lauryn Hill's Ex factor and Usher's Burn", Faith smartly returns with comment "Ok uh, uh. So Prince - Nothing Compares To You, Beyonce Hold Up, Thank U, next - Ariana Grande". Will - "You lost me there, Angie's favorite is Back to Black", Faith responds "Amy Winehouse?", Will - "on the nose I know", Faith "Well the heart wants what the heart wants". Then a few seconds later they both stand up and burst into a surprise sing along with the crescendo of the She's Gone song. This was very cool to me, and really made me smile. In fact the soundtrack so far is great with old wonderful songs by Sam Cooke and others.

The actor playing Amanda of course you would recognize from the top rated TV series "The Wire".

This show is extremely well written and the stories keep your attention. I wish the episodes were longer though. Plus how cute is Will's Chihuahua dog named Betty.

Can't wait until the next episode. Looking forward to it.

Check it out, you won't be disappointed.

Bosch (2014–2021)
10/10
PERFECT - BEST TV SERIES OF ALL TIME - FOR ME IT'S BETTER THAN "BREAKING BAD"
6 February 2023
Yes, my headline is strong and dares to challenge the highly rated and hallowed Breaking Bad series.

But I had to get the readers' attention and give it a high score because the Bosch TV series had a powerful and amazing effect on me and I suggest everyone checking these reviews should watch it.

I kept avoiding it for some reason and only recently decided to give the entire 2014-2021 seven-season series a go after enjoyably watching last year's 2022 spin-off Bosch Legacy.

Titus Welliver's stand-out performance as Harry Bosch is incredible, first class and quite a surprise from some of his earlier roles in Deadwood, Sons of Anarchy, a few Ben Affleck productions and an impressive list of other top shows. It seems Titus is often overlooked and not given due credit for his acting talent but his role in Bosch was a perfect fit for him and urged me to find out more about him.

In fact, on YouTube I saw an interesting story by Michael Connelly, the writer of Bosch (and many other great books), who explains why he chose Titus to play Harry Bosch and says after auditioning other top actors there was nobody else that became Harry so perfectly.

So, let's move on to the show itself. WOW!! What a varied experience of emotions we are given throughout the series, and who would expect a Cop/Detective show to entertain us so fully. Apart from the top class storyline and plot, and the wonderful wealth of characters, there is the addition of Harry's love for Jazz and the world class vintage songs by 1940's 1950's & sixties musicians like Miles Davis, Dizzie Gillespie, Art Pepper, Chet Baker, Paul Desmond, John Coltrane, Billie Holiday, Charlie Parker, plus other songs by Los Lobos, Foo Fighters, Deftones, Chris Botti & Mark Knopfler - (whoever chose the songs for this show has amazing taste in music). This show is pure quality - cool, classy, deep, funny, sad, touching, and I could not get enough of it. It's actually filmed inside the real Las Angeles Police Department by the way and we also get a great look at the varied culture and suburban areas of L. A. It has everything to keep the viewer entertained and satisfied. It's addictive, leaving us wanting more, and I never wanted it to end.

I cannot praise this show's production highly enough. Don't miss out on a riveting entertaining experience. My suggestion would be to watch the first 7 series first, before watching the recent one Bosch Legacy so that you can really get an understanding of how everything unfolds. I believe they are working on a second series of Bosch Legacy to air sometime this year which I can't wait for and am anticipating greatly.

In my opinion, the fact that Dick Wolf's NBC has been running Law & Order SVU for 24 seasons,CBS running NCIS for 20 seasons,CSI for 15 seasons, and Criminal Minds 16 seasons is crazy since these shows are nowhere near as good as Bosch which is run by Amazon Prime. I wonder why that is the situation?

The Captain (2022)

What a wonderful surprise.
25 December 2022
Although I'm an Australian lady I actually HAVE heard of Derek Jeeter before, but only little snippets, say from an old David Letterman interview and other late-night talk shows.

I also was aware of the rivalry between the New York Yankies and the Boston Redsox, which is often referred to in various TV shows and miscellaneous movies that come our way down under.

However, of course, I had no idea of the true story behind Derek and his amazing talent as a top world class baseball player and his induction into the Hall of Fame.

It was very interesting to hear opinions of the racial aspect with him being bi-racial and I found his relationship with his parents and players to be fascinating.

I am now 69 years old but many many years ago during primary school I used to play what we call Softball here, and actually did take the position as Shortstop. So the game of baseball was always very enjoyable for me, even though I never made a career out of it. Not sure if that was even possible, living here in Australia.

Loved the input from Michael Jordan regarding constantly being hounded by the press, and also his thoughts on fame and fortune.

All in all I totally loved the high quality and detailed content of this doco and ended up binge-watching the entire seven episodes. Learnt a lot about baseball in the process.

Really good stuff - well done and congrats to Derek and the producers.

I absolutely am LOVING this series so far
25 December 2022
I absolutely am LOVING this series so far, after binge watching eps 1-6.

Kamal Nanjani is such a good actor - he virtually carries the show. I can't remember seeing him in anything else but will check out other work he's done. The way he portrays his emotions and reactions to the story is just a joy to behold and I couldn't get enough of him.

This is a first class production with great story-telling and of course I agree with other people's comments that Juliette Lewis is wonderful, as usual. Top performances by the other actors as well.

Can't wait until next episode and hope Hulu produces a Season 2.

GOT ME HOOKED FROM THE START
30 April 2022
What? I don't understand the low reviews and comments about this show!! I absolutely LOVED it, couldn't wait for each next episode. Interesting story-line and depiction of life in that era. And please do not compare it to that predictable, dull Yellowstone series. (Sorry, but in my humble opinion, Kevin Costner's on-screen vibe seems to have gone downhill since his great performance in Dances with Wolves and even in The Bodyguard). Much preferred seeing Sam Elliott opening the show and is wonderful at 78 years of age. Totally surprised that Tim McGraw and wife Faith Hill were such good actors, having not seen either of them in other shows, just knew of their amazing talent as superstar country singers.

Yes, I agree with other reviews that the last couple of episodes of 1883 were perhaps not as strong as the previous ones, but still found it to be extremely enjoyable and would love the producers to make another Season.

Isabel May was fabulous as Elsa Dutton and loved LaMonica Garrett as Tom.

Wish there were more high quality TV series as good as this one.

One of the Best Ever - Masterpiece
29 April 2022
This movie, which I watched many years ago, is one that I always recommend to friends and family because it's so wonderfully enjoyable. Its probably due to the fabulous handling of the story line from the original novel.topped with Edward Norton's and Naomi Watts' performances.

It takes you on a journey of emotions ranging from disappointment with Kitty's first flippant attitude to then feeling so happily surprised at what ensues during the movie, and of course leaves the viewer with yet another different and respectful state of mind towards the end. Totally keeps you guessing and glued to the screen wanting to see what happens next.

I totally loved it. Even almost 16 years since its release it's a rare movie that stands the test of time and I wish there were more like it.

Interesting Show
27 April 2022
Love Michelle Pfeiffer in this series. She seems so natural. Whereas Gillian overdoes it and in my opinion, Viola does come across as a bit anoying. I agree with the comment made by claudiaraesherman about Viola's constant pursing of the lips. However it's still a very enjoyable show so far. Can't wait to see how they handle the real life troubles of Betty Ford.

Would like to get TV producers to create more shows with experienced actors aged 50 and above, like Ellen Burstyn because these guys really known their craft.
