Lucky (2017)
A wonderful exploration of human realisation
Lucky proves that you don't need VFX and extraordinary plots in order for a film to be good. A simple, enlightening film that I would recommend anyone to see.
When one thinks about 'spiritual awakenings' - like so many people describe Lucky's narrative in plot descriptions - I immediately assumed Lucky would turn to religion and this would be the narrative. However, it's even more reductive than this. In the last shot Lucky stares at a cactus and smiles, this puts everything the film is about into perspective. A special film about life and the acceptance of fate, not to be missed.
Brigsby Bear (2017)
Loved every second
A film that managed to make a kidnapping lighthearted and funny - something I'm not sure has been done before. A real clear message within the film and that is do what you love in life, surprisingly emotional and extremely well shot. Genius in my eyes.
Teströl és lélekröl (2017)
Stunning film
A peaceful, gentle exploration on love. Metaphors of love are depicted through deers in a snowy woods. The film is sensual yet innocent, an intriguing story about two lovers.
Estiu 1993 (2017)
Brilliant.
A brilliant exploration of humanity and the struggles of a little girl that has faced loss. Frida's battle with trying to fit into a nuclear family and desire to be loved is desperately sad, it's relieving the arc changes into soothing catharsism.
The acting in the film was so authentic, during some parts I felt like I was watching a documentary.
Summer 1993 is slow paced, gentle and naturally lit film depicting loss, family and childhood struggles. Beautiful.
