Bee Season (2005)
the real source of inspiration that drives us
This film really packs a wallop. I didn't know what to expect, and I am glad, because I was open to whatever it would end up being. The spelling bee is really just a metaphor for what it is that we all like doing, and that we do well. It's about the real source of inspiration that drives us, if we are open enough to let it flow through us. It touches on how 'now' is the gift, if only we perceive it so. The divinity is really something to embrace, love and respect.
With amazingly fresh visuals, wonderful acting and great directing, this film is to all involved what the spelling bee is to the young girl- a tool to experience the divine presence. I am grateful for this film.
Film 101 (2005)
good film about the making of a student film
I just saw Film 101 in Melbourne, Florida at a festival. While not originally on the schedule, I am glad it was ultimately included.
I enjoyed this film about the making of a student film. It was quite funny, and I thought the acting was great. I think it could have been trimmed a tad to step up the pacing a little and shorten it a bit, but it is a very noble effort.
The film touches on dilemmas faced by any student filmmaker, such as financing, inexperienced, forgetful and disappearing crew members, technical difficulties, actors dropping out, locations, etc.
It is definitely well-written, well-directed, well-shot and well-acted.
