Matilda (2017)
depthless trash
Beyond the fact that this movie is totally inaccurate from a historical standpoint, it had no depth whatsoever. It was cheap and trashy with marginal performances by the various actors. Rather than try and endear the main character to the audience, the script and acting made her come across as a very irritating person. If I could give this one a zero rating, I would. Avoid this movie
The Japanese Wife (2010)
wonderful understated movie
The simple story of simple folks living far apart from each other and from vastly different cultures. Reminiscent of some of the old Satyajit Ray movies. As others have stated, the setting and the acting by all the major players, especially of Rahul Bose, keeps one glued to it. Highly recommend this one
La propera pell (2016)
great film
really loved the way this film built up to the ending. All the cast was great and like many a Spanish movie, this did not disappoint. Highly recommend this movie. I wonder if these are other movies with Alex Monner in the lead. He brought out the anguish of the character without overdoing it!
The Good Karma Hospital (2017)
why not shoot in Kerala?
It was disappointing though I must say I watched it with an open mind. On the more positive side, I guess one could call it a not very serious drama and watch it in that spirit. What really got to me, as some of the other reviews say, is that that if this was supposed to be Kerala, why not shoot there. Wonderful locations are available along the west coast of India. The Sinhalese speaking actors murdered the Malayalam language! Perhaps it would have been best to call the fictional location what it actually was- SriLanka and not Kerala!
