The Terror (2018–2025)
Comparable to the Novel
30 March 2018
I'm a massive fan of the novel and, two episodes in, I'm a massive fan of this show.

They needed to spend A LOT of money on this to make it work, and I think they did. The actors are great, the costumes are excellent, the sets are mostly convincing and the pacing is just about right.

Although there are already some major differences to the novel, I think the changes were mostly due to the transference to a visual medium, so I am happy to forgive them.

I'm looking forward to the rest of this series.

Manhunt (II) (2017–2020)
I Wanted To Like This
26 January 2018
I really wanted to like this. It's right up my alley: true crime, good actors, an interesting subject. So why couldn't I get into it and gave up after four episodes?

I can't quite put my finger on the reason, other than the way they went about it. It just didn't hold my interest, and plot points that should have been compelling were just boring.

A shame.

Mr. Mercedes (2017–2019)
Gripping

I'm a big fan of King and Mr Mercedes is one of his better later novels. This adaptation captures the atmosphere of the novel really well and the differences between the visual and written are small enough to not matter.
