The Dollanganger Saga: Flowers in the Attic (2014)
Do not expect it to be like the book......
I have read this book so many times I can not count.... This show does have the basics. Not much more. Do not expect the full story the book portrayed or you will be as disappointed as I was. So much was cut out and lost a lot of depth the book has. No real character development. Main plot line misled... ie: Cathy and Chris watching the Christmas ball hiding in a liquor cabinet???? Chris's defiance over Corine??? Cathy so placid???? The bond the children made??? It was the opposite in the book. Olivia trapped on the attic as they left??? An electric fence??? Wtaf??? Yeah so much has been changed its painful to watch if know the book. If watching without reading the books then could be enjoyed. If you are wishing for it to be similar to the book then you will be yelling at your screen as I was saying "What about...." or "They didn't say that..." or "It was...."
5 Headed Shark Attack (2017)
WTF
I love a good B grade horror flick as much as the rest of the horror fans do. I love fake blood and gore as well. But this....... 15 minutes in i could not watch anymore. Not because if the unrealistic blood and CGI, but because of the horrible direction or editing.
B grade films we are used to fake blood over acting and a lot of T and A, so I was expecting it with this film and prepared to watch it for shites and giggles.
I had to turn it off because the director who allowed this editing needs a wake up call.
Make it as fake and phoney as you like but at least have the beast heading in the right direction on each scene change. One minute you see the beast heading to the victims above water and below, then swerves as if circling, then heading away from the victims, then pointed back towards the victims closer.....WTF
Like I said i love a good farce and a good laugh but to edit the film like this i like taking the joke across the line.
Enjoy the over acting, enjoy the ridiculousness of it but at least have this shark moving in real time.........
Does this review contain spoilers????
Maybe maybe not.
Why???
I am spoiling it by saying unless you are blind and do not mind a shark moving in an instant all over the ocean and suddenly attacking and finding it enjoyable, I have just spoilt it for you lol.....
I have not spoilt it by protecting real connoisseurs of the horror film, B grade or even Y grade type films who can have a laugh at such films but can not fathom how anyone let it go this far down.
Happy Hunting (2017)
Makes The Hunger Games look like futuristic child's play
I have never felt compelled to write a review before but this film has. I wouldn't classify this film as a horror genre more like an Action/Horror and in that order. Action as it is always moving with action styled scenes and horror in the fact of the horror of being hunted down by a bunch of strangers. This is is how you do a low budget film. It shows you do not need tons of blood and gore and suspense to create a great film (although it will satisfy most blood lusts to a point). The acting from such unknown actors is above par and the concept is (although the idea of hunting others for sport has been done) original and well written. It is a believable idea and was executed brilliantly. I have watched most of the horror films to come out this year and was left disappointed and wanting more yet this film although not technically horror has left me with the feeling at least there were some films that made it this year. It is truly a film worth watching considering it didn't need to resort to elaborate special effects and lots of sex. In fact the effects are minimal and there is no sex at all. All in all a great film to watch, just a shame it did not get the theatre time and recognition it deserves.
