Cape Wrath (2007)
Shocking, Intriguing, Addictive... Unless you have Hi F Autism and/or get to the end...
When I first watched this show, I was hooked. Every time I heard the(very cool)theme tune, I was there, on the couch, barely moving my eyes from it until ad breaks. And at he end of each episode I'd be itching for more. Wanting to know more about the main characters. And how they found themselves wound up in this peculiar place.
And to my disappointment, they were some of the loose ends that weren't tied up. Among MANY loose ends and sometimes very peculiar main character personality switches.
The characters that confused me the most were Mark, Danny and Dr York.
The latter two would be more obvious to most people, however, when you also have some of the "issues" Mark is described as having in his medical records, he becomes the most confusing character of all. It's a common trait of characters with some forms of autism that have their lines written by those without personal experience. Due to the difficult nature of Autistic Spectrum Disorders. And the extra things described, which are also often quite common in some higher functioning autistics in real life, also don't seem to match up very well. Even though every person with them is different, there are certain things people with ASDs just will not do. Especially when combined with such an extra problems as OCD. And, while in the beginning, Mark's character didn't show these issues... They very quickly appeared. Even though it is quite obvious Mark Treadaway (Convenient name, eh?) put in a lot of effort with slight traits like eye contact difficulties.
The ending seemed to rush up too soon. It was like a "Boo Moment". You know it's coming, but it hits you out of nowhere.
And while it's a shocker, it leaves you still wanting an extra few episodes to tie everything up. And wanting to know more about the aftermath of the major events that take place.
In the second-last episode the plot was wide open for a second series, but after watching the last episode, I now seriously doubt that is possible. Which is a great disappointment.
Epic Movie (2007)
I can guess what's going to be sold at the next car boot sale... And it's NOT going to be Men in Black 2...
If you like screaming black guys plastered in bad white makeup and an alabaster wig and bad blue contacts trying to kick the hell out of a half-lion, half-pervert that constantly switches from a flabby, middle aged Caucasian man with stuck on fur, to an east-Asian man with muscles and stuck on fur... And long scenes with rap evil enough to make you puke playing and a man in a bad half-goat suit making out with an anamatronic beaver... Along with hundreds of bad jokes stolen from other movies and TV series... This is the movie for you.
However, it might not anyway with all the other weird and stupid stuff going on.
I was expecting this movie to be so bad it goes full circle and becomes so bad it's good. And my expectations seemed to be fulfilled in the introductions of the main four characters.
But the minute they turned up at the chocolate factory, I discovered that this film went full circle twice, and become excruciatingly painful to watch.
After watching it from start to finish, you may have a strange feeling that you might have felt somewhere before... The moment after you've just had an accident in your car or on your bike or board that you weren't expecting, and for a few moments you are left dazed and confused. You have no idea where you are, what you're doing, and what just happened. The it all comes rushing back.
NEVER watch this movie. And if you already have, I feel sorry for you.
And if you saw it and LIKED it, I feel even MORE sorry for you. because you have now proved yourself to be a member of the wandering teenage undead. (BTW, I'm 18 and two months! If you think I'm an 82 year old granny with a cob on, you be wrong!)
