Piranha 3D (2010)
I was rooting for the fish.
Dear viewer, do not, I repeat, do not watch this film. The characters want to get dead so much that I was rooting for the monsters in this movie. They did EVERYTHING in their power to get massacred. So, I really don't know if they are stupid or can not act, because they are stupid.
The effects were meh. Makeup was gory and very successful. The film is too much gory. Be warned. There are lots of boobs in the movie, but event they are silicone boobs. I guess that is new era of the US.
The music is good enough. Some characters does not find enough screen time like the doctor.
There are so many illogical things that I cannot even describe them. I do not want to give the spoilers to spoil your bad experience. The film will do that on its own.
Silent Hill (2006)
A meh film of a meh video game.
When it comes to computer games and the films, I am THE man. I have seen and played them all.
The source material that this film is based on is not very good. Resident Evil 2 is better than that, even that. The lead actress is good but overlal it is kinda boring, I yawned through the film. Watch The Conjuring universe for the real deal.
The special effects were ok. There are some interesting monster variations, but they are not impressive. Kind of illogical. Whole plot is weird. Not very realistic, you can say. When it is not realistic, a grown up person can quickly, very quickly lose interest.
First Girl I Loved (2016)
Do not waste your time and money about this.
I watched a lot of movies. I am especially interested with a good lesbian movie. Although I am straight, I have many friends. The lead girl is pretty good on her role, the film was okayish but the final is so rushed, boring and -thanks to incompetent director- lame...
In real life, people suffer bad things, why give it again in a film packaged like romantic drama? Because the director is lazy, does not understand real emotions and therefore cannot lead the cast properly. The people in the community is brave, not like portrayed here. Because of the director and writers lack of any talent, this is really a wasted effort. Shame on you!
The picture quality and camera work is medium. Music is minimal, and gives the impression of minimalist films.
It is probably better save yourself time not watchng this. I would never watch it again.. I feel like my time was stolen...
Loving Annabelle (2006)
Nice but bad ending
The film and athmospher was good. The characters are realistic. But I want my gay movie to reach a good conclusion. They did everything right but the director apparently got afraid and made a final scene less than desired.
The interaction between two girls were awesome. The lead actress unfortunately lost her life, but her portrayal of the good teacher is awesome. I myself am not gay, but I always support friends like that. Why is everything gets into homophobia? We live that enough in the real life. Give us something good for ending.
The other lead girl is absolutely charming. I would really like her whatever my identity is. She is so natural. Music is good. Scenes are very well lighted and give the ambience perfectly.
Midsommar (2019)
A long, boring and not so scary movie.
This film is so slow paced. This looks like some obscure indie-art film from these festivals that you go with your girlfriend and sleep. I had to fast forward and it still took me a lot of time to finish. Typical of northern films, the scenes look decent but too artsy. The only horror in this movie is the fact that you had spent more than an hour to watch it...
The Requin (2022)
I won't keep this review short...
Don't... Just don't.
You must have a life and this film is not worth sparing time from it.
Acting, logical progression, theme, plot, name it.. Everything seems so bad. If I could, I could have saved the shark from the movie.
Halloween Kills (2021)
A mere shadow of the past...
I seriously do not know how Carpenter accepted this film. Even a legend like Curtis was not acceptable and prolific in her role here. You feel that she could do much better, yet she doesn't!
The original 70s one was the best. It was very amazing.
I understand you do some touches for artistic purposes, but this one loses all its charm! Cheap teen slasher style gore baths and no meaningful script.
The first film was realistic. This is pure fantasy. Ok. The man is a psychopath and killer. We know that. But what kind of man does NOT die even when he is stabbed on the neck??? Stupidity. I do not want to give spoilers so I won't tell but this became an impossible senseless fantasy.
Please do not make any more remakes and steal our memories of great films!
An American Werewolf in London (1981)
Very good acting, fun film, not scary...
Let us begin with the definition of a werewolf film: It's a film a about werewolves or includes werewolves that rely on make-up effects or CGI to transfer such imagery to the viewers. I have watched most of werewolf films and they commonly are categorized as horror films.
Well, this movie is not scary. Some old-school jump scares are there but the effects are not superb. Even orcs in the siege of Helm's Deep in Lord of the Rings were more scary.
The acting is great, the actors are very, very good. The doctor, the beautiful nurse, the protagonist are truly wonderful. I felt love in nurse's speech. The locals of England are shown as somewhat cold and unfriendly, where this is not very true. I have studied there and in every pub, you can easily find friendly conversation if you mind your manners!
The film's pace is good, but the ending is somehow abrupt, too easy. It feels like the filmmakers are bored or something, so they rushed it.
Music is quite fitting and makes you feel the mood.
So, as a Sunday fun film, this is a great production. But in terms of a horror film, it is far, far behind , say, the Conjuring.
Dark Places, Deadly Illusions (2021)
What did I watch?
I watched this movie expecting a thriller kind of story, instead I got something worst than an experience of watching paint dry.
The acting is beyond terrible. The writer woman looks like someone who is just rehearsing the role for the lead actress who is sick at home. The character developmnent is zero and the story progression is so murky. The director wanted to make something suspicious, ended up with being meaningless.
Is it erotic? No
Is it interesting? No
Is it scary?
Only if you think about the time you lose watching this.
Pet Sematary (1989)
If you look past the illogical things, decent horror film.
Stephen King is a very good author. The director of this movie is also very talented, clearly. Considering the year, coupled with great performances of notable actors, they managed to make a good and creepy movie.
Some mild spolers (all you will see in the first 5 minutes)
Why is a super organised country like the USA let that stupid road run without control? No police? No speed limit? After countless accidents, it also seems all the lorry drivers in the film are full stupid, going high speed in a narrow road.
I am a father myself, and I was very disturbed to see the family get a place like that and not have a barrier or fence built? And who lets their toddler go free in that diabolical road? Come on, Mr. King!
Apart from those, the photography, cinemotography and sound is great.
I still recommend it.
Fright Night (1985)
Nice movie, but not scary anymore :)
This is a classic. I remember watching it and scared when I was a kid. Now, compared to my favourites such as Conjuring, it isn't scary as a horror movie. However, despite actors' cheesy dialogue and acting, this is a fun film to watch. Thanks Tom Holland and crew for this classic driving us down the memory lane! Watch it if you haven't. Watch again, if you have.
47 Meters Down: Uncaged (2019)
What a disappointment!
Sharks have voices...
That's enough, really...
Besides blind sharks who growl and grrr and also will not be able to hear even a rock band, the best thing about the movie is the brief nature scene where the cast and the sharks doesn't make an appeareance.
