I thought this would be a sweet, coming of age summer show, but I was mistaken. There is nothing wholesome or virtuous about "The Summer I Turned Pretty," which is unfortunate because the concept was promising. Some of the main characters (including adults) are shown smoking weed and getting drunk. There is a sexually loose/promiscuous mentality propagated by the young adults. One of Belly's male friends (her main love interest), Conrad, is a narcissistic, weed-smoking jerk. Belly makes foolish decisions and doesn't appear to learn much from them. The kids can be quite mean to one another. Complete garbage.

A bunch of adults who don't seem to have jobs, but have endless amounts of money while acting like adolescents is what this show is. This show is filled with negativity-gossiping, mixed messages about alcohol/alcoholism, drunkenness, self-centeredness, profanity, materialism, and promiscuity. I see absolutely no positive aspect about this show whatsoever. Also, some of the people have kids (Kristin, Audrina) yet they are notably absent from the show.

Hallmark made some great Christmas movies this year, but unfortunately this wasn't one of them. The dialogue was too saccharin and forced. The children acted unrealistically perfect and sweet. The storyline was unoriginal and the dialogue wasn't clever or witty at all. Turned it off after 30 minutes. I would recommend "Christmas Wishes and Mistletoe Kisses" and "Holiday for Heroes" instead of this dull film.
