Mr. Robot (2015– )

One of the best shows i've ever watched.

Hello, friend. I'm being completely honest when i say i originally passed this series off thinking it was a cliche hacking trope show. Which is Ironic as it's the complete opposite and perfectly done by Sam Esmail.

I went into it not knowing anything at all about it, didn't even watch a single trailer and all I knew was that Rami Malek was in it. And was i blown away. The idea of seeing a lot of it through the main characters eyes isn't an original one, but was perfect in the setting of this show. Elliot is complex and you don't really know much about him at all- you have to figure out the characters and world yourself to begin with, but then you think, Is this really my opinion of this character? Or is seeing it from elliots POV making me biased? It's completely thought provoking and mind boggling and the extremely believable and real "dystopian" reality it's set in is beautiful.

Each season is its own treat, but the reveals in the final season were honestly not predictable. in fact the show sets up a lot of the premises as if most of us actually did know something is going on and we figure it out, but much like elliot we choose to suppress it...in a " it can't be true right?" sort of mindset and to portray that into a show is magic!

The characters are believable and the beauty of the way Esmail has created this world is you find something you love in the 'bad' guys and hate in the 'good' guys because nobody is truly good or bad. (a great moment to say that I LOVE Tyrell Wellick)

I would highly recommend giving this show a watch and don't be put off for as long as i was! I'm so glad i finally watched it. Goodbye, my friend.

The Umbrella Academy (2019–2024)

Favourite type of tv show/ movie rolled into one.

It's a perfect mash up of all entertainment that I and others watch.

It really isn't your standard superhero show- in fact it's the opposite so you don't need to be a general comic book fan to enjoy the show.

some of the powers of each of the characters in the show have been altered from their comic book selves to be more believable in our modern world, which is perfect to be more relatable.

The plot isn't that predictable, whilst some plot points may be, there's always a twist at the end.

It's fun, wacky and dark and well worth a watch or 2.

In Time (2011)

Unusual, but a guilty pleasure.

This was one of my first movies I had watched when I was younger a couple of times and only ever remembered it partially, so finding it again after years was refreshing.

Made me realise how interesting the storyline was as could have been if it was made that little bit better.

The love story is too cliché and predictable along with the main plot as a whole, but the concept is what really drives the story and I feel it would do so much better if it was remade today.

If you're reading my review years after it's release like I have, please give it a watch, it's fun and entertaining.

Joker (I) (2019)

Beautiful, twisted and captivating.

I thought the pacing of the film was a bit slow to begin with- that was until i finished the movie and realised how wonderful and necessary it was.

Finally not an over dramatisation of the Joker, showing the progression of insanity as human as possible.

Tied beautifully into the Bruce Wayne story without making him the central point.

And the ending was captivating and kept me in a trance like state, I couldn't keep my eyes off the screen. I honestly was smiling like a maniac as the final scenes unfolded because it was perfect and long overdue after going through the mental battle with the Joker.

I can see how some can dislike it, but coming from a Marvel fan, this is one of the best movies i've ever watched and DC villains always go above and beyond Marvel ones.

Flatliners (2017)

Not as bad as the reviews make it out to be

Hear me out: The film wasn't the best thing ever and quite predictable, but it was watchable and I have definitely seen worse. Having never watching the original, i actually didn't know it was a 'horror' so that was a surprise.

I love Ellen Page and her acting continued excellent in this movie.

If you're still on the fence about watching it, just watch it once and ignore the reviews like I did and I heavily base my watches on reviews. I quite enjoyed it even though I probably won't watch it again.. it was still worth a try.

Spider-Man: Far from Home (2019)

Definitely in my top 5 Marvel movies

Absolutely adored the film. I'm not a fan of comedy, but thoroughly enjoyed the comedy in this movie AND There was finally more than 2 big fight/action scenes! The visual effects were stunning especially during the spidey vs Villain scenes (no spoilers) it was perfect.

The composition of the movie kind of reminded me of the sequences in the Kingsman movies or a Guy Ritchie movie which i adore and think it's a fresh new way for marvel movies- especially a fun, but action packed spiderman movie.

Again no spoilers, but the 2 end credit scenes were mindblowing and finally feel like they hold more meanings so definitely stay for them.

Supernatural (2005–2020)

A powerful journey

Yes, my review may be a little far fetched to be 10/10, but I can say i've enjoyed every single episode of Supernatural. It's taken years if character and story building and each is beautiful. The dynamic between the characters grew even stronger, the stories were interesting and the sad moments grew even sadder.

I adore this show and I can definitely say it's a favourite and a must watch. I have shed tears, laughed and got excited over all aspects of it. Its such a different show and I haven't found anything as like it.

Some episodes are a bit dull, but i wouldn't miss them for a second. Each and every one worth a watch.

Some of them were just stunning in animation and story line and i would love to see them as a full movie or series 😍

The Last of Us (2013 Video Game)

A beautiful game. Storyline is well written and paced. The characters are perfect and the whole mechanic of the game is just right. Great combat system, stealth and survival aspects. The zombies aren't too cliché and the emotion between the characters is the best. I'm a person that also thinks that soundtracks make a game a good one and the soundtrack for this is beautiful. Can't wait for the second one, don't think it'll beat this one, but is highly anticipated!
