Simply Beautiful!
11 July 2018
This movie is amazing. This is obviously a masterpiece. I love everything about this movie, from the story to the soundtrack, everything is awesome. I watched this film with my family on my birthday, and it was totally worthy. The story tells about Miguel, a young boy who wants to be a musician but his family hold a grunge against music. However, this is not without any reasons. Miguel goes on incredible journey and he finds out everything about his family. The music of this film is perfect, I am not surprised "Remember Me", one of the song won an award, as the song is really touching and meaningful. The moral that I could take from this movie, about love between family, is conveyed in a perfect way. This is the best choice to watch especially with your family, and you will love it!

Very Inspiring
11 July 2018
I am genuinely in love with this film. This is one of the best Indonesian movie I have ever seen. This story is adapted from a best-selling novel entitled "Laskar Pelangi" by Andrea Hirata. This film tells about 10 children called Laskar Pelangi (Rainbow Troops) by their teacher. These children live in rural area, in a poor environment but their heart and imaginations are always rich. The main character of this film is Ikal, a curly-haired young boy who has a dream to study abroad, his relations with his friends and teachers, and his struggles with his family financial condition. The scenery is so beautiful, Belitung island, rich of natures. All of the characters are based on the author's real life story so everyone seems very realistic. This movie is amazing and very inspiring. I recommend you to watch this.

Barbie of Swan Lake (2003 Video)

Swan Lake
11 July 2018
I watched this film for the first time years ago. As a child, the movie was so fascinating with beautiful ballet routines. Now as an adult, after watching it again, everything just the same. Barbie as Odette, a bakery's daughter, she is beautiful and has a sweet personality. One day, she sees a unicorn running around her shop. She tries to save the unicorn, and everything starts changing. This film is inspired by one of the most popular ballet, Swan Lake. Although the ending and main plot is totally different. This movie is clearly aimed for children and young viewers. The antagonist, Odile, is really interesting. Her voice is so unique, I still could remember her signature laugh since I was kid. Odette in this Barbie movie is quite strong and brave, I am not very fond of the prince characteristic as he is just too cliché and not that distinctive from other male partner of Barbie films. Overall, I enjoyed this movie as for young viewers. The story is light and quite enjoyable.

Funny
11 July 2018
The first impression of this movie was I already had feeling that it would become a funny movie. And I was not wrong. The film about two aliens working together in order to lift a human up to their UFO (Unidentified Flying Object) is brilliant. First of all, I like how they portrayed aliens as green slime like creatures. Not to mention they are irresistibly cute as well. The small alien is my favorite. He probably has no talent to be what aliens are supposed to be, but he would never stop trying. The human who is going to be lifted is so unrealistic in my opinion, but that is what makes this film more interesting in the first place. This film is only five minutes, and I recommend you to watch it.

Love knows no boundaries
11 July 2018
The first impression I got from this short movie was just simply beautiful. This is only three minutes movie and I emotionally attached to its story. I never imagined that the idea itself only came from designated six lines. I love how they developed these short lines into something amazing and beyond imagination. This movie tells about a young boy from the NAZI regime who meets a young Jewish girl holding a porcelain unicorn during the war. The interactions between these little kids is really touching. They are only kids, and they do not see each other as enemy. The plot is so heart-warming and the ending is unexpected. The camera work is impressive as well. The characteristics look realistic. The moral value I could get from this movie is about humanity, love between human knows no boundaries. I must say this movie is worth watching. You will enjoy it and make sure to take out a tissue!

Loneliness
11 July 2018
A married couple living in Japan, Keiko and David are longing for a child. Davd is a man who is working in daycare in Kamakura. They have been living a lonely marriage days without child until a boy comes into their life. In my opinion, the story is realistic and the cast also act well. Keiko portrayed as a very lonely woman, who has been longing for a child maybe for quite some time. I can see David is a family man type, as he often shows his affection towards children and is very nurturing. The arguments between husband and wife feels so real, it shows us that marriage life is not only about everyday happiness but also involves little fights and misunderstanding. The background setting was also good, we could see how quiet and lonely that part of Kamakura. I think the moral of this short film is no mater we long for someone, we have to accept if the person isn't belong to us. And if we live with our partner, we should solve all problems together and don't be selfish.

The Crush

Warning: Spoilers
This film tells about an elementary school kid who has a crush on his own homeroom teacher in class. The teacher kinds toward him of course because she is a teacher. The boy proposes her and she just accepts the ring. I personally didn't see this as cute thing. I found out it creeped me out as I thought the boy will take his feeling to the next level. As I kept watching, I enjoyed it. It was thrilling and the plot is unexpected. The boy's acting is very serious and I thought it would be ended up as very dark film. However, the ending surprised me a lot. This film makes us wonder what will happen next. The camerawork and the editing are good as well. I like the acting of the cast even though I don't think the characters are realistic. I must say this film is worth-watching and I recommend you to watch it.

Unexpected
11 July 2018
This is the most mysterious short film I have ever seen. I think, strange and confusing are proper words to describe my first impression. The first scene of this film shows us some people fall down and die suddenly without warning in the street of New York City. Meanwhile in the top of a building, a man is playing golf. What's the relation between people dying and a man playing golf? although this film is very short, this film made me curious and kept wondering about what happens next. In the end, all the mysteries would be revealed and actually the conclusion is quite funny and yet dark. We could learn from this film that the way men release their stresses out sometimes could be very twisted. I enjoyed watching the film as the ending is satisfying somehow and all the mysteries are solved. This film is worth watching and not disappointing at all!

Solitary
11 July 2018
This is a story about how important and true meaning of solitary to someone who loves to be in a peace and quiet atmosphere. In this film, we follow a daily routine of a man who is rowing his boat to work in order to avoid the street crowdedness. First of all, the film shows us how this man goes out from home while carrying his paddle, then we will see how calm the sea is with a bird's singing and the clear blue sky. After reaching the place of his boat, he starts rowing peacefully until he arrives in a shore side and greet a fisher girl. However, everything is gradually changing as a seductive girl approaches and come into his life. I like how they shot the scenery, it looks so real and the ambient made me understand why he chose this way to go to his workplace. Not to mention the acting of the cast and their gestures successfully explained what they had in their minds. I recommend you to watch this short film if you are into comedy and light film, and definitely you will love it as well.

Embers

This film tells about couple that lives during World War II. They live in a small cottage near the woods. One day, when the husband goes is at war, the wife has a bad dream. She sees her husband is about to be beheaded with katana by a Japanese soldier. Ever since that night, she is always haunted by this dream that she started hallucinating that her husband is in danger. I like the scenes when she is hallucinating everything. The visual story telling is brilliant. It was a little bit confusing whether all the scenes were real or just her hallucination, but I think that what makes this film interesting. When the camera shoots the Japanese soldier, it makes me wonder what happens in the next scene. The cottage and winter scenery make this movie feels like a thriller at first. And when the husband finally gets back home, she finds out something that might changes her feelings toward him because she doesn't think he is the same man that she loves. This film is worth watching and enjoyable. I recommend you to watch it.

The Errand
11 July 2018
The Errand tells about a little girl who helps her father to buy cigarettes. This girl really appreciates her father even though her father orders her around to buy cigarettes. She struggles a lot, first because she is very young and small it is hard for her to press the button from vending machine. And when she finally gets it, her mother throws it away. When she looks at her father's condition, she couldn't help but try it again. She doesn't know how to quit. She even forces herself to ask smoking women to give her cigarette and she doesn't care what people think of her. All she knows is she need to get back home with a pack of cigarettes on her hand. But the second time she looks at her father, she realizes that she should stop. She can't help him again because she doesn't want him to die. This film is quite enjoyable, I enjoyed watching the little girl struggling scenes. She might be not knowing what she does, but she tries it anyway when her father asks her for favor. It makes me think that an innocent little kid's feeling for her parents sometimes could be more genuine than what adult has. This film is worth watching and I recommend it for you to enjoy it as well.

Heart-warming!
11 July 2018
This movie reminds me of my personal life and culture. I have a great connection with my father as I considered him as a family man. In my place, most of people only see love story between parents and children represented by a mother. And this movie proved to me that kind of mindset isn't always right. In this movie we could see how a love between father and daughter could be strong as well. A girl waiting faithfully for her father who leaves her. She strongly believes deep inside her heart that love always finds its way. No matter how long should she wait for him, nor where could they reunite. This story explores how much she is longing for her father to come back, she goes back to the shore every day as a form of her love. The animation itself brought many nostalgic feelings to me, and the music even told us briefly about the emotion and situation we were facing in each scene.
