This film would have been so much better if Taylor and Zac actually had chemistry
19 June 2015
I'm a sap for a good love story, and I have three requirements for a romance film:

1. The two main characters have to be, nice, well written characters who are played by good actors. Check.

2. It has to have an interesting storyline. Check.

3. The two main actors ABSOLUTELY MUST have chemistry. Erm.... no.

I don't understand who two good actors (Yes, Taylor Schilling and Zac Efron ARE good actors) just don't have chemistry. I honestly didn't believe that they were really into each other, and every time they kissed, it just felt so forced.

This is not a sexy story about BDSM, this is a terrible story about abuse
24 May 2015
Warning: Spoilers
I was wary of watching this film when it first came out, I heard a lot of negative things about the book and decided it wasn't my cup of tea. However, a lot of my friends who were my own age couldn't stop talking about how much they loved it, and a lot of them assured me that the biggest problem I had with the book, (misinformation of BDSM, romanisation of abuse) wasn't as bad as sounded it. I read a few extracts from the book and found the writing style cringe worthy, so I decided to watch the film, hoping I could at least enjoy the storyline. Turns out I was right about Fifty Shades Of Grey from the start.

Ana is a weak, one dimensional protagonist and boring overall. Christian was actually a rather interesting character, however he is not likable as a human being, and because of that, I found it hard to route for him.

Fifty Shades Of Grey portrays BDSM as a relationship where the dominant has control of every aspect of the submissive's life. This is not true. A relationship between a dominant and a submissive is just like any other relationship, the only difference is that sexual activities include SAFE and CONSENSUAL violence from time to time. As Ana's dominant, Christian controls what Ana eats, doesn't allow her to drink or smoke, makes her address him as Sir at all times and does many other controlling things. This is NOT how BDSM works, this is blatant abuse. I'm not even going to talk about how he neglects to inform Ana of what he's going to do to her before actually doing it.

Overall, Fifty Shades Of Grey is a boring, ridiculous and unrealistic story with cringe worthy dialogue.

Amazing
22 June 2014
This has got to be the first time I've ever given a movie 10/10, it was truly outstanding. I am a huge fan of the book, and for such a long time that my copy is first edition. It's also my favourite book of all time. And I'm going to say something about this film that I rarely say about book-to-screen adaptations. This film really done the book justice. Ansel Elgort was perfect as Augustus, and Shailene Woodley was perfect as Hazel. They kept all the best parts in the book, and while they could've, they didn't reduce it to some rubbish chick-flick. The beauty and the integrity of the book was there in the film and any fan of the book will be pleased with this film. I strongly recommend it whether you read the book or not.

Fun Size (2012)

I liked it!
9 August 2013
I watched this movie on demand, and although there was some flaws, I thought it was very good, for reference, I'm 17 years old.

The story covers Wren, played by Victoria Justice, trying to find her trouble-making, prankster brother on Halloween.

There was a few cliché's, but I found them very easy to overlook, especially when you consider the fact that the cliché's are just sub-plots.

A lot of people are complaining that Nickeloden made a movie that isn't family friendly, but this wasn't the first time Nickeloden did this (Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging!!) so I didn't have a problem with this film being produced by Nickeloden and I honestly don't see why other people do.

I found this movie VERY funny and the main characters very compelling, Jane Levy's character is probably one of my favourite supporting character's in a comedy film at the moment.

Overall I enjoyed this movie for the overall atmosphere and give it a 7/10.

The best space film I've seen in a while
6 May 2012
Warning: Spoilers
I haven't read the book so this review will not be compared to the book.

I watched this film on gold and I never seen a better space film before. The film was visually good for film created in 2003. The plot was brilliant and the acting was incredible.

The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is about Arthur Dent's adventure through space to find the meaning of life after earth was demolished by an alien construction crew.

The atmosphere of the film, which was created with comedy, made it light-hearted despite what it's about. The characters were lovable, I cried when I thought Marvin was broken beyond repair and I found Zaphod very amusing.

At the end, I was rather disappointed. I was hoping that they would find the meaning of life as I am sure everyone was. Although I think that it was necessary to leave it at a cliffhanger. No one knows what the meaning of life is and it wasn't in Douglas Adam's discretion to decide. The point is that there is a meaning to life and it's worth finding.

I've seen this movie 100 times before, and I still love it
2 March 2012
Warning: Spoilers
Although I would say that this movie is very clichéd I still found it compelling viewing. It contains all the aspects I have seen in many other movies. The idea of John developing his powers reminds me of the first Spiderman film, the forests remind me of Twilight, also the idea of the mysterious new kid keeping himself to himself, but then falling for a girl and then risking his life reminds me of many films I have seen in the past including Twilight and Prom.

The graphics were incredible and the acting wasn't bad, in fact, the acting was pretty good.John's back story and the fact that he can only fall for one girl made the story appealing and in my book a must see movie even if it is clichéd!
