Tracker: Chicago (2024)
I wanted to like it
I wanted to like this show. I always give a new TV show 4 to 5 episodes to get me hooked (or not). The premise was promising. Diverse cast, including at least one disabled person, LGBTQ+ people etc. Turns out, it's a formulaic, predictable, boring TV show after all. I'll give it some more episodes cause one can easily use it as a diversion without losing the plot.
Now I have to write some more to get this review.published. Otherwise, I had already stopped at formulaic, predictable, boring.

The Blacklist: The Avenging Angel (No. 49) (2021)
Better than last season
It will be interesting to see how they incorporate Alina Park's pregnancy into the next episodes.
Now that Red has even more power and everybody gives even less of a fvck about people's lives I wonder where this season is heading to.
The Rookie: Man of Honor (2021)
Where have all the reviews gone?
There have been reviews for this episode. I read them. They're gone now. At least I can't see them. Anybody else?
The Good Doctor: I Love You (2020)
Season finale and I'm done
These last two episodes have been the worst. I mostly don't care about the love stories in these series, but when they get ridiculous I stop watching said TV shows.
It went all well as the Good Doctor was in a relationship with Dr. Carly Lever. His progression was believable, his actions also and it was cute to see them toghether overcoming the obstacles.
The break-up was already a little weird, but to pair him with Lea Dilallo AND declaring their mutual "love" just outright annoyed me.
Like others already said, you watch the developement of characters about 3 seasons and suddenly Dr. Melendez death and the pairing of Lea and Shaun breaks it all up and not in a good way imo.
I was more interested in the cases they had to solve and to check them with reality, but the whole cast around that made it easy to watch. There was a nice flow that is now interrupted. I have no intention to wait until that flow is on again.
Snow Dogs (2002)
Watching again
Yes, this movie has flaws. It's a shame they used "Eskimos" in 2002 while it's Alaskan Indegenous people. I bet there would have been an Alaskan actress that could have played the part of "Barb". No need to have a Philippin actress, though I think she's a beauty and did a good job.
Nevertheless, I enjoy this movie once a year. Mostly around December, cause I love snow, cold and dogs.
I'm not one who is easily laughing at jokes, let alone stupid jokes, but this movie makes me smile a lot. It even gives me some laughs.
I'm old enough to know that movies are not RL, so I don't make a reality check on some entertaining movie.
Though I've watched it 3 or 4 times already, I wil do so next year, when I want a little distraction from winter stress.
As a Disney movie it carters to children. I think, children should be a little older, say between 8 to 11 to understand the charm of this movie. They should also know that it's not a cute "dog" movie, but only movie with dog actors and human actors.
9-1-1: Sink or Swim (2019)
Too much
I really like watching 9-1-1. Most of the time. Don't like these over the top episodes with heavy disaster. Yes, it was technically made very good. Good effects. Nevertheless too much.
The Rookie: Impact (2019)
Impressive come-back
That was a really impressive start to season 2. A powerful continuation of the cliff-hanger episode from season 1 with lots of action and some surprises.
Reef Break (2019)
Predictable AND boring
It was already said, smartass woman knows everything (with little to no info) and boom, TV is reporting and boom, all bad boys care about it. Then the nowadays needed single-woman-having-one-night-stand-with-younger-man scenes, add some FBI or SEAL ex-husband (who stays in a lovely friendship with his ex) and you have a TV show. Just make some stunning scenery available and the story will not be really important. After all, the protagonist will save the world on her own. Well, that's not enough for me. If I want to see Magnum, I will watch Magnum, but the original series. So I will give this another shot, cause sometimes TV shows need about four episodes to get settled.
Whiskey Cavalier: The Czech List (2019)
I'm out
It's cheesy, it's boring despite all the action.
The European cities are a nice change of view to the standard U.S. surroundings but that doesn't help. IMO the Will Chase character gets downgraded by the new wave of making women smarter than men and the neediness to show them as bad-asses.
But what bugs me most is the constant change between people being smart and stupid at the same time.
The stories and the characters are unbelievable to me, so no. No more episodes for me.
Star Runners (2009)
For Beginners
As a viewer who never watched the big sci-fi shows this movie is pretty entertaining. It had my attention the whole time which is (for me) a sign of a relatively good production. Yes, the cheap production was palpable. I don't want to analyze, I want to be entertained. That's exactly what this movie did. The story was forseeable most of the time but nevertheless it had some nice twist and turns. IMO this is a movie you can watch with children next to you. Little gruesome, not too much. All in all for sci-fi beginners and people who don't want to be overwrought with special effects
Absentia (2017)
Outstanding
Outstanding "thriller" in terms of being BAD. Not much to say though. The writing was bad. Lots of plotholes as big as the Grand Canyon, red herrings that smelled fishy, were unneccessary to the story and led nowhere. Wooden, subpar acting (maybe except for Paul Freeman). Some actors are hardly to understand, due to whispering or badly masked accents. Music and story try to build suspense (shortly) but always fade into nothing. Cheap settings, cheap clothing, not believable to be set in the U.S. Looked more like a 70s European made series filmed in Eastern Europe and pretending the audience won't notice . Watched the whole drivel till the end, cause episode one was very well received after Monte Carlo premiere. Sadly, it deteriorated from episode two and never got back on track. Waste of time.
