Crooks (2024)
Visually interesting... the plot... not so much
The first few episodes had some good moments, but with each subsequent episode the plot became more and more predictable, full of clichés, the characters were mostly flat and boring. I know that all the dialects are there to better represent the characters and the different groups, to show the local distance and also to clarify the social differences, but often it ended in a minute-long mumble in which nothing could be understood. Why do you have to mumble like that?
Unfortunately, the acting performance of some of the actors was anything but credible. I keep asking myself what makes some German actors think that they have mastered their craft!
Sadly, it was a waste of time and it dragged on like chewing gum.
The Diplomat (2023)
Exciting, entertaining, thrilling
It's hard to find a series that captivates you and keeps you in suspense in every episode. But this mini-series did just that. The main storyline is always with new, but not absurd surprises through all 8 episodes and each episode tells a little more and adds one or two new characters.
I found all the characters very compelling, both from their story and how they were played. I can understand their decisions and statements for the most part, or at least empathize with them. The interpersonal relationships were very exciting and the special marriage of the two main characters was extremely interesting.
The cast is fantastic and everyone played their part perfectly.
Only the relationship between the CIA agent and Stuart Heyford was not always the most authentic but I can forgive that.
I really hope for a continuation of this exciting series. The ending came as a surprise and the cliffhanger makes me want to see a second, gripping season.
