Don't Look Up (2021)
Big disappointment!
Don't Look Up is the name of the movie. To be honest I wished I had looked not up but away, when a friend suggested it. But I'm wondering, did we really need another apocalyptic end of the world movie even though this time the end of the world really happens? I didn't need it that's for sure. But it starred some of my favorite actors. I have always admired Meryl Streep and I have to admit she did an awesome job as the idiotic, narcissistic President of the United States. I also love Jennifer Lawrence. She's my favorite actress and I also admire the work of Leonardo DiCaprio.
There are spots of humor in this movie that made me laugh. One scene in particular I laughed until I cried was when Dr Mindy went home to his wife and they hugged. This was after he had the affair with the media journalist played by Cate Blanchett. But after the embrace ends, his wife quite calmly tells him she screwed a fellow college student. It was so funny that I roared and couldn't stop. I just had tears streaming out of my eyes. I was so floored when she said that just matter of fact like. And there were a couple other funny parts. But there were also parts I assume meant to be funny that fell flat for me such as one of the characters. What in the hell were they thinking to put Ariana Grande in this movie? Seriously? At the end when she's singing what could have been a beautiful uplifting song she's using graphic language In the lyrics which sounds so at odd with the angelic tones of her voice and I mean the whole thing was just a joke, only I wasn't laughing. They could have totally left her out.
I kept thinking surely they'll find a way to solve the problem without the asteroid hitting the earth, but I was so wrong. I have this rule and my friends usually understand it, but the friend that recommended this obviously had forgotten. The rule is, don't recommend movies to me where the main characters die in the end. And it wasn't just one main character. Everybody you liked died. The only ones that survive are the people you didn't like, The leaders who were so stupid and basically were responsible why the Earth was destroyed, who leave on this spaceship this arrogant billionaire built. And 22,000 years later (after being cryogenically sealed of course) they arrive on an earth-like planet. The best part of the movie is when the President got what was coming to her. Not only that, it was a prediction that this billionaire made when she asked him how she would die. Apparently he had some scientific means of knowing everything about a person including when they would actually die and he told her and he said nobody understood it but she was supposed to die by an attack by this creature and sure enough she does and they show it.
I have to say not only was this a rather depressing movie because all of my favorite characters died in the end but it was bizarre too with some of the weird stuff going on in it. It's just mind-boggling to me why this won so many awards and got so many nominations. And not only that it's a long movie it's like 2 hours and 20 minutes long. That's time I'll never get back.
How It Ends (2018)
The worst ending in any movie I've ever seen!
The title is How It Ends, but then they don't tell or show us. Cuz that was the worst ending I've ever seen in a movie! Theo and Sam are trying to outrace whatever it is that is chasing them and it's like the writers just couldn't come up with any more ideas so they decided to just end it abruptly. No explanation of what the hell kind of catastrophe or significant global event had even happened. The movie itself was entertaining and interesting enough with all the various things Theo went through to try to get to his beloved Samantha. But I repeat an extremely unsatisfying ending. I think the writers owe us a sequel.
Everything Everywhere All at Once (2022)
Utter crap!
I watched it for 15 minutes and I could not take anymore. I was so totally bored and found nothing that really appealed to me or entertained me and even the scene on the elevator where she entered some strange dimension it wasn't entertaining to me. I have no clue as to why this movie got so many Oscar wins and nominations because to me it was just nonsense and an utter waste of time. Simply put a bad movie. This just goes to show that so many movies the academy chooses for their prestigious awards, actually most people really don't find entertaining. They're strictly artsy fartsy movies which the majority of viewers aren't into and the Academy has never wavered from that formula.
Darcey & Stacey (2020)
No thanks I'll pass!
The show is just something that makes you sit down and wonder why television programming is sometimes so bad. I'm just shaking my head wondering why some TV producers seem to think that something like this would be not only interesting to the majority but a huge hit as well. It's jaw dropping, because the show features two overly buxommed bleached blonde women who look like they've had way too much plastic surgery and are overly made up to boot, trying to look like teenagers and it's just really sad and pathetic. Nothing about this show with interest me at all and I just find it hard to understand the type of viewer that could really get into something like this. No thank you I'll pass.
The Flash: Flash vs. Arrow (2014)
Interesting episode
I have a theory. I've been noticing this, that in this series I'm enjoying that every time there's an episode that includes a lot of violence, it's rated really high. That says a lot about us as a society In my opinion. Most of us claim that we don't like violence and no matter where it's from whether it's in our police industry or in crime in general or even violence towards animals we don't like it for the most part. But I ask, is that altogether true? Why is it we seem to actually like it In our entertainment and we find it acceptable in fantasy or fictional movies and books? Could it be because we're not allowed to express our violent nature in real life otherwise we would suffer the consequences but in a movie or in any kind of fiction we can actually embrace our violent side and not be punished for it? To conclude, I was watching this episode and I just instinctively knew that it was going to be rated high and I came here and sure enough it got a 9.2 rating. Perhaps it isn't just the violence as to why it might have gotten that high of a rating, It might be because there was another superhero The Arrow in this one but I think the violence had a lot to do with it actually. Just my opinion.
Lucifer (2016)
One of the best series I've ever watched!
So I have to tell you about my journey regarding this series. First off I hadn't subscribed to Netflix until just recently a few months ago in fact and my friend who had been a subscriber for quite some time recommended Lucifer. Being a Christian I wasn't at all sure that I would like this but I gave it a shot and I watched about eight episodes of season 1 but then I thought I just didn't want to continue. When I told my friend she was devastated and let me preface this by saying she's my BFF and she knows my tastes and she felt I was making a big mistake. So after reconsidering I decided to go on. I watched the entire show and it became my favorite series to date of any TV shows. Previously the only other science fiction fantasy type of series I loved was my very favorite and that was Supernatural. You see it doesn't matter that I'm a Christian watching a secular TV show such as Lucifer and enjoying it. What matters is when I watch shows that deal with the age old fight of good against evil with good triumphing over evil, I feel it's something that I'm very sure that I'm not disappointing God by watching this because I know he would understand and mostly approve of my motives. Because you see this show very definitely is about redemption. It may be pretty much fantasy as as a Christian I know Lucifer or Satan is not like that and beyond redemption but this is fiction you understand, and the character Lucifer has been redeemed by the end of the show and not only that it's about good triumphing over evil. Currently I'm on the second rewatching of the entire show and I just found out a few minutes ago that the producers were going to cancel this show after season 3 which was very confusing to me and hard to fathom as to why they would do that. Because the one thing I noticed checking IMDb quite often is that most of the episodes were rated very high... higher than many episodes and other series. So I read the story as to why they were going to cancel it and they claim it was because of low ratings which I don't buy at all. It's just ironic to me that they keep other series on for a long long time and I can give you an example, Gray's Anatomy which I've never watched and I don't ever intend to watch but I mean it's going on it's 19th season. But other than Supernatural it just seems like Science Fiction and Fantasy series don't last very long maybe a few years or a few seasons and that's it, yet when you compare TV to the world of film it's the exact opposite with movies. Movies such as Avatar, the Harry Potter series and other fantasy and Sci-fi do really well. All I can say is I'm very appreciative that the fans complained and fought for this series to go on because I can't imagine not having the storyline between Chloe and Lucifer playing out where they fall deeply in love and they're together for as long as they're able to be. The last three seasons were awesome and the episodes again were very highly rated. If I had to rate my favorite Sci-fi fantasy series of all time it still would be Supernatural but Lucifer would be a close second.
Lucifer: Resting Devil Face (2021)
One of the funniest episodes ever!
There was so many humorous parts in this and I laughed so hard especially at God trying to be a human. The one conversation and this has spoilers but was so hilarious was this:
when Lucifer and God are being held at gunpoint on board the airplane by that woman because God accidentally spilled the beans and mentioned the sting.
Lucifer says to him "Okay Dad time to get your powers back... Goddup as it is."😂
God: Unfortunately I don't have my powers just now but I'm sure everything will turn out just fine.
Lucifer: That's what you said about the bloody dinosaurs!
🤣🤣🤣
God: Don't you dare take that tone with me! I giveth and I'm not afraid to taketh away!
Lucifer: A lot of big words from a man who was recently leveled by a frozen beverage!
🤣🤣🤣
Lucifer: Bloody Celestial Karaoke Jam (2021)
Very Surprised!
Even though it's true I love musicals I wasn't prepared for this at all even though I read that there was supposed to be some musical numbers in this but when we got to the crime scene and suddenly the flash mobs started I was absolutely shocked but then it was so funny I started laughing! Lucifer didn't know what the hell was going on and Chloe started totally getting into it and it was very entertaining! I'm having trouble though figuring out why so many people didn't like this as it was fun and amusing as hell and showed a lot of additional talent from the actors and actresses. And then we find out who was responsible and that whole conversation was just as interesting as the entire performance in my opinion to know that God is a queen fan! Lol!
Lucifer: Everything's Coming Up Lucifer (2016)
Another great episode!
This was another really interesting episode and it's really coming together now and I feel that hopefully it won't be too long before somebody that Lucifer is close to will discover that he truly is who he says he is. But I have to say this... I really hate one thing about this entire series and that's the fact that a lot of the times when they choose classic rock songs as in this episode they chose All Along the Watchtower by Jimi Hendrix yet they didn't have the version by Jimi Hendrix. They had it by some guy I don't know who but I mean it was pale and vapid. Being a lover of classic rock of course I love the original artists and that's one thing that I appreciated about the series Supernatural is they always had the original artists and I don't know why on God's green earth they would not have the originals singing the music in this series because it would pack way more of an emotional wallop. Totally disappointing and the one flaw for me in the series.
Beast (2022)
Best thriller I've seen in a while!
The reviews that I make are usually few and far between but once in awhile I see a movie that impressed me so much that I have to comment on it. And I'm doing this mostly because of the bad reviews for this movie...don't pay attention to those people. Especially if you really enjoy a tense on the edge of your seat type thriller because that's what you will get in this movie. I haven't watched a thriller I admit for a long time and so I was like really tense beyond belief with always the fear of the unknown or feeling of not knowing what's going to suddenly happen and I was on the edge of my seat at all the intensity of certain scenes. Idris Elba does a great acting job in this and his character is written as an intelligent doctor and boy you do see that intelligence, especially near the end of the movie. Also the scariness of the CGI lion which by the way was incredibly believable was something I've never seen, and I've seen plenty, being a Marvel fan. There was criticism of the movie and it's true you could look at the irritating or stupid things that were there a few times, like the eldest daughter who didn't pay attention to when her dad would tell her not to do something and she would do the opposite or the fact that they left the windows or the doors open when they shouldn't have but if you just follow the movie and follow the plot of the movie you totally get sucked in and little details like that don't seem to matter very much, the more you watch. The ending or last intense scene of this movie was something I'm surprised I even lived through, cuz it was freaking intense and scary as hell and the outcome was not expected that's all I can say, without spoiling it. All in all I highly recommend this movie to people that like scary intense thrillers.
Zombie House Flipping (2016)
Love this series!
From the reviews that I've read many people are very critical of this house flipping series. However even though some of their criticism might be justified, like for example the fact that when they start these flip they have made the mistake over and over again that they don't turn off the water. That should be done in the very beginning and because obviously they don't think to do this, then they end up with the house being flooded. There have been other mistakes as well but many of them however have been very entertaining.
But I so love the series and I love all the flippers personalities and I find it fascinating that they can take these horrendously bad homes, which most of them by the way look like they should be condemned rather than renovated but they turn them into absolutely beautiful livable houses.
The first three seasons were awesome but noticeably lacking in Season 4 was designer Peter Duke. However he shows up in a couple episodes which adds a lot to the show because he was such an integral part of the team.
There are many entertaining things that happen in every episode as well. Some of it I am sure was just invented for entertainment value but still it worked for me.
All in all a really interesting house flipping series if you're into that kind of thing and I would highly recommend the show.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022)
WORTH SEEING ...FELT ENTERTAINED
So before I decided to go and see this I did not watch one trailer of the movie nor did I read much about it but it was the second Doctor Strange movie which meant of course I definitely would be viewing it and since I loved the original Doctor Strange and almost every MCU movie I can think of, I figured I would enjoy this one as well.
And I did for the most part. There were a lot of fans who didn't particularly seem to like this movie but thankfully I'm not one of them. However I will say that the original Doctor Strange has an edge over this one and it's still my favorite of the two.
This movie was a lot darker and had a lot more non-stop action in it so for me that was a bit of a disappointment as it would have been nice to have some scenes of dialogue where they weren't always about to fight or flee from said monsters. Also unlike the first movie there was very little humor or funny parts that made you chuckle, it was very dark as I said. The special effects on the other hand were off the charts and I felt totally entertained and enthralled. The fact that Wanda the Scarlet Witch was in the movie, didn't exactly surprise me but the fact that they made her evil...did. I'm sure the entire 10 people that were in the movie theater with me watching, when Wanda revealed that she was not on Dr Strange's side at all and conveyed to him what she intended to do and what her goal was, I'm sure all 10 of those people heard my chin hit my chest!
The part however that I found truly interesting is that they included in one of the multiverses, superheroes from the other movie franchises which to name two, were Dr. Reed Richards the head of the Fantastic Four and Professor Charles Xavier of X-Men. Also included was Captain America but instead of Steve Rogers in the position, it was Steve Rogers love, Peggy Carter.
And I felt vindicated from the argument I got in with a friend of mine who I told her that eventually they would eventually include one or more of the X-Men in one of their Marvel movies and I was happy to see with the inclusion of Dr Xavier, I won the argument.
All the acting I felt was top notch and I loved newcomer character America Chavez played by Xochitl Gomez who did a fine job in the role.
The only part for me that was hard to watch was Wanda the Scarlet Witch played by The talented Elizabeth Olsen, who was a favorite character of mine from the previous movies and seeing her turn totally badass and become sadly perverted by her desire to be with her children (I never saw Wandavision btw), was hard to watch but in the end Wanda understood that her children belonged to a different multiverse and did not know her and furthermore they were afraid of her and she could never truly be with them and then all of the fight went out of her at that point. I felt truly sorry for her. All in all a totally entertaining 2 hours.
Supernatural: Carry On (2020)
A real slap in the face to fans!
Unbelievable last night's finale! I started crying from the time I realized Dean was dying all the way until 15 minutes after the episode ended! Why oh why did they do this? Despite the fact that Sam who they force us to watch age even though he had a son and named him after Dean, but at the end we have to watch him as an old man die on his deathbed, and only then he rejoins his brother Dean in heaven.
Sorry not good enough! It would have been far more satisfying to the loyal fans such as I who have watched this show and loved it since the very beginning if they had let Sam and Dean simply go on in real life on Earth and live the lives maybe that they've always dreamed of but never were able to have. they could have showed each of them in later years with children and grandchildren and others from the show as well that would have been a superb finale!
But no they had to have the typical Hollywood ending which was an attempt at being clever and modern and made people cry their faces off to see that one of their beloved characters get impaled on a metal spike and dies a horrible death and then see their other favorite character die of old age!
The finale was hard enough for us that wanted the series to go on even longer but then to see it end that way was truly worse than disappointing.😔😭
A Quiet Place (2018)
Re-titled: Hear No Evil, Speak No Evil, See No Evil
The majority of this film was rather boring and kind of an insult to one's intelligence. Not much dialog, so I'm sure the actors were paid half of what they would have gotten if they'd had some actual lines to speak.
We don't get a decent look at these alien monsters until at least over half way in. and only flashes of them when someone messes up and makes some noise. And they're the most disgusting creatures you ever want to see. Kind of tied with the Aliens in the Alien movies
All the people who liked this must be deaf, so therefore they would know what the dialog was about unlike many of us who do not understand sign language. And I couldn't help but think as I watched, that for people it would be an easy way out if they wanted to commit suicide. Just purposefully scream or make a noise and the deed will be done.
And walking on sand and bare wood floor is just plain nuts, wood floors notoriously are prone to squeaks, instead of using sneakers which are pretty quiet unless you are running. Being barefoot in itself is very risky sometimes even inside one's own house as one of the family members found out.
At 37:00 minutes into the movie finally one of the family makes a sound and talks to his child. They're standing next to a very loud waterfall though. So why didn't they make some kind of living area near the waterfall for example or near some place where there is loud noise?
There was one part of the movie that didn't make much sense. When no one really made any noise in the house yet the aliens showed up.
I mean this was just not believable for the most part. Why wasn't the governments of the world trying to stop this invasion? Where did these aliens come from, how were they getting around? How were they eating, what were they eating? Why did noise set them off? What was their ultimate purpose for being here? How could the military have not found the aliens weakness as this sole family did find out at the end of the movie?
I thought for sure by the end of the movie these questions would be answered but they weren't. A waste of time for me.
A Sister's Obsession (2018)
Oh No! Another Lifetime Movie!
Normally I rarely watch Lifetime movies. I decided to try watching this having nothing else that sounded interesting on my TV. But I have to ask, why are Lifetime movies so lame?
Why would a sister who hadn't seen her twin since they were children in an orphanage just decide that she's going to go after her and ruin her life? It wasn't believable to me at all. You'd think being a twin she would want to reunite with her sister but instead she sets about trying to destroy her. There's just no real motive for doing that I thought, as I was halfway through the movie at that point.
Plus the actress, (Lindsay Hartley) who played her, was miscast as this character. Not that she wasn't a good enough actress she was, but she was too attractive. To see this beautiful woman with thick long lustrous hair looking like she just stepped out of a hair commercial, viciously killing people who get in her way, just seemed a bit of a stretch for me.
The twins played by the same actress looked more like a supermodel or an actress which in reality she is the latter. The casting director should have chosen someone a little plainer, it would have been more believable.
And this is what I mean about Lifetime movies. They don't put a lot of thought or effort into characters or plot. Maybe the problem is they just don't have a big enough budget. All in all, a total waste of 2 hours I will never get back.
Supernatural: Stranger in a Strange Land (2018)
One of the worst episodes in any season!
There was a little good but a whole lot of bad.
Good was seeing some of our favorites back again. But there was a lot of bad. To begin with I just am not used to seeing Jensen Ackles play this other character of Michael. It's strange so they chose a good title. And this Michael arch angel isn't even OUR version, it's the one from the alternate world, who seems like a complete creep to put it lightly.
He seems more like a demon rather than an angel. And all the while I watched him in the scenes going through my head was, "I miss Dean, I miss Dean."
If I have to go through an entire season without seeing Dean, I'm gonna hate this season then. I mean it's not the same. The whole series has been built around Sam & Dean who are brothers and who fight evil.
Now everything is on Sam basically. It's not working for me. Unless they change or bring Dean back soon I may not watch anymore.
And then there's Jack. He has none of his powers now, so basically he's pretty useless at this stage of the game.
And then a surprise. Lucifer's host an ordinary guy named Nick who apparently survived the stabbing by Dean/Michael is now with the others. What use will he have? He seems like a fairly decent soul but I don't get why he's there. I mean the explanation which in my mind was rather absurd is the reason he survived was because maybe the angel blade only kills the angel inside of it's host. C'mon! if a person gets a fatal wound it's gonna kill the host along with the angel. So that reasoning didn't work for me at all.
Seeing Jensen though portray this evil Michael, just seems a little hard to believe. I mean this Michael has a boring personality IMO. He has no sense of humor like Dean has, no great personality traits at all. He's cold, calculating, vicious and well just plain evil not to mention misguided in his whole agenda for making the world a better place. And I hate the way they've dressed him and that stupid hat has to go!
I really hope the show gets more interesting as we go on and that Dean, the real Dean returns before I give up.
Iron Man Three (2013)
I Don't Get the Negative Reviews
I really enjoyed Iron Man and Iron Man 2. I read many of the reviews here before I watched this third installment and after watching it I don't understand why so many viewers hated this film.
The movie had almost everything. The only thing that was missing for me were the Avengers. Having said that, it was a small price to pay as I totally enjoyed this new take on the Iron Man series and definitely felt entertained the whole time.
To say as some have said, that there was little humor in this, that's the part I don't quite get. I found it very funny throughout and Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark was still clever, irreverent and just plain hilarious in his dialog and I found myself giggling and laughing sometimes outright.
One particularly funny scene is when he's talking to super fan Gary in his van. Gary who says he's patterned his whole look after Tony, shows him a tattoo on his arm of a man. Tony says, "Uh.. A Hispanic Scott Baio?" LOL! Then says, "Oh I'm sorry is that me?" Gary says yeah and says "I had them do it off of a doll that I made." LMAO!
Not only that, even that bad guys had a few funny lines. As Tony, two thirds of the way through the movie corners one bad guy from up on a balcony, the guy sticks his arms up in the air, drops his weapon and says, "Honestly? I hate working here, they are so weird!" LOL! (Tony doesn't shoot him and the guy slips away.)
Plus I was mesmerized by the plot and sequence of events from the time I started watching until the end of the movie. It was interesting seeing Tony from a new perspective. The fact that he loses his home and is basically homeless and presumed dead by the majority of the world and oh yeah, then there's Pepper who he's separated from and after all that, he's suffering anxiety or panic attacks, Not to mention he has to fight the bad guys without his suit at various points through over half the movie. With everything that's going on he never falters for very long, he just picks himself up and keeps moving forward.
I thought it was a great movie, Great acting, Ben Kingsley in particular was superb as was Robert Downey Jr. There was corruption in high places as well which is no big surprise, with lots of drama, yet also containing a lot of humorous moments. Exciting action and phenomenal special effects round everything out. In one scene near the end of the movie it spectacular as Tony does an air rescue. I've never seen that in any movie before.
So this may not have been as great as the first Iron Man but it's very close and it definitely held it's own. I enjoyed it start to finish.
Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017)
Never Judge a Movie By the First 10 Minutes
I almost stopped watching this after the first 10 minutes. I thought where the hell did they dig this actor up? Immature, silly and just plain annoying, I did decide to keep going and see what would transpire.
I'm a fan of the original Spider Man movies with Toby MaGuire. I never saw the ones that followed afterward so I can't talk about the other actor who portrayed the legendary Super-Hero.
Other users talk about how Spider-Man played by Tom Cameron is the youngest actor to play the role. Physically not so much. He doesn't strike me as any younger looking than Toby MaGuire looked in the very first Spider-Man movie.. After all Peter Parker is still a high school kid, but it's his lack of maturity and his personality that makes him appear younger than any other Peter Parker/Spider-Man we've seen. Perhaps they should have titled this Spider-Boy cause he's a far cry from a man.
As for the acting. The acting was very good. Robert Downey Jr. was great as he always is and as for Michael Keaton. For me Michael Keaton who plays Adrian Toomas/Vulture and who was the original from the early Batman movies and who remains my favorite. I never cared for the other actors in that role. He was great in this movie as well..
Up to the first 15 minutes of this film though, I kept waiting for something fun, or exciting to happen. Finally at 16 minutes in I got my wish. Tom Cameron once in the role of Spider-Man was a bit more bearable.
When he rescues an owner of a grocery store after fighting some crooks dressed as "the Avengers" who attempted to rob the place, he brings the store owner outside and also has the owner's cat in his arms. He got points from me, for rescuing the furry feline.
This movie picks up, I've read after the last Avengers movie where Spider-Man comes to Tony Stark's aid (didn't see that movie). So in this movie he is pretty much obsessed with doing another job for Tony Stark and The Avengers. But in the meantime he does his thing of fighting the bad guys, restoring the peace etc. Everyone around him though including his guard/chaperone, a guy named "Happy" played by Jon Favreau, treats him like a rather annoying kid, and even many of his high school peers who don't realize he's really Spider-Man and make fun of him. But his closest friend Ned played by Jacob Batalon, one night finds out who he really is.
The biggest surprise in this movie was how they portrayed Aunt May. Instead of a rather grand motherly looking older type they portrayed her as a much younger woman with sex appeal. This did not make sense at all to me. Even give the fact that Peter Parker is only 15 in this movie and in the original, he was a high school senior at 17. Still in 2 years his Aunt wouldn't have aged that much. So they basically changed it totally for this movie.
The SFX were great in the movie as to be expected. The scene involving the rescue at the Washington Monument was exciting and awesome. And the little miniature spider "Droney", a flying interrogation robot was cute and cool.
And Spidey's biggest help is from the computerized voice that's part of the program in his suit. He names her "Carrie," but sometimes she is too literal. asking him frequently, whenever a bad guy is identified, if he wants her to engage "Instant kill switch." :)
There was more humorous moments too. When the guy who's been selling the high tech weapons gives Spidey a couple tips after he seals the guys trunk, as Spider-Man is racing away the guy asks if he's going to fix his trunk, that he has ice cream in there. Spider-Man says, "You deserved that! You deserved that, you're a criminal!"
What's funny too is that Spider-Man is referred to by some of the bad guys as "Spider-guy."
Another thing is, as in other Spider-Man movies the police still view Spider-Man as a threat and often get in his way even with all the help he's given them. It's the people who view Spider-Man and the other super forces as heroes.
The ending is spectacular, and more surprises in store, which some of them complicate matters but at that point I was glad that I continued watching. I highly recommend this movie if you can get past the first 10 minutes as I did, you just might find it fun and entertaining.
Extinction (2018)
Good movie, but those kids!
Okay first off, I love children I do, but the worst thing about this movie is none of them were atypical unfortunately. Maybe that's how the average kid would act under scary circumstances IDK, but it would have been less torture if the producers had included kids with the knowledge that when it's important to be quiet you be quiet, you don't keep screaming or crying and carrying on when that's only gonna make things worse, not to mention draw the enemy to you.
As for the plot, it was interesting, the acting very good especially by the lead actor, Michael Perla who played the Father. Lizzy Caplan the mom was also very good.
What was missing for me though is I feel that the pre-stuff was too little. Setting up the stage for this invasion was important. They didn't have enough of those visions by Peter, nor did they have ANY kind of reason beforehand that the invasion was going to happen, absolutely nothing. All we see are Peter's visions and we know "something" is going to happen but not any clue as to what and why. We don't find that out any real answers until near the end of the movie. For me I like some kind of reasoning as to why the invasion is going to happen beforehand. Plus we find out in the middle of the movie that some of our own people are traitors. Again we're told nothing.
But there's a big twist in this movie just past the halfway mark, which made me understand that, the whole explanation regarding the plot of this movie needed to be kept a mystery until the end. The twist started to explain what was going on and totally surprised even me. So that's one up for the writers. We actually find out what's involved. It kind of makes you stop and think.
The movie is worth seeing despite those irritating kids.
Under the Mountain (2009)
The movie was more for kids... maybe...
I got half way through this and knew I wasn't going to finish. The plot was very weak and proposterous at times. They are told by an otherwordly being named Mr. Jones played by Sam Neill that they need to throw two stones into a volcano to save the world.
They should have not turned this book into a movie because if the film is following the book well it's a rather lame story.
Sam Neill was good as he is a good actor but even he could do nothing about the plot. After all he's just following a script The twins played by Sophie McBride and Tom Cameron were good enough actors but the acting wasn't the problem.
Some other viewers found this boring. I didn't find it exactly that as I felt the pace of the movie was good and the direction, acting etc., it was just the awful plot.
I said it was more for kids maybe but maybe I'm selling them too short.
Triangle (2009)
One of the Worst!
I absolutely hated this movie. In the beginning and up until they climbed aboard the ship, a ship btw way as we the viewers could tell was uninhabited but still it was fairly interesting but then it went downhill. I figured out after not too long, that the Jess character was in a time loop of some kind. Who had apparently never saw the movie, Groundhog Day was my first thought.
But really, it was very repetitive with her going through this loop time and again but finally near the end of the movie, she seemed to have beat it and finds herself washed up on a beach, with the outfit she had been wearing when she killed all the people she'd been yachting with, floating nearby.
This Jess character also annoyed me. When trying to explain to the others what was happening she never ever used the phrase stuck in a time-loop. She knew that's what was happening, but instead she whined and cried and said things like, "we have to get off this ship" or "you have to kill the others" or "There's two of me, two of you", Or again,
"You have to believe me we need to get off this ship!" But she never tried to give them any real explanation as to why.
Then she makes it back home and then realized her other self was there. And her other self was not a nice or a good mother, so she kills her, I guess thinking that will break the time loop or something. Then she grabs her son and leaves in her car only to get involved in a car accident.
We see her dead on the ground and her little boy also dead, but then we see a taxi driver who says he will give her a ride. She tells him to take her to the harbor.
She meets those same people and I kept expecting her to tell them she changed her mind and wasn't going but no way. She gets on the boat with them and that's the end.
I mean seriously? So basically she's going to go through the same thing all over again. There's more to the story then this but I'm not going to make this any longer than it already is. Just read the others reviews. All in all, I do not recommend this movie.
