It's Fine I Guess
20 April 2024
It's a very okay show. A lot of the jokes honestly don't really make sense, like they just sort do "cartoony" stuff as a reaction but there's no set-up or connection to what's actually happening. Generally I react to the attempted jokes like, "why did that happen?" rather than laugh. An example is Plucky Duck sees Buster's new hairstyle and as a response, opens up a backpack, dumps out the books and then skateboards across the screen. It's not really a joke, just sort of stuff happening that's "zany" I guess?

I've never seen the original show but I find the voices of this one very unfitting, and the characters scream too often for my taste.

I wouldn't say it's bad but I definitely wouldn't recommend watching this show.

Krapopolis (2023– )

The Name "Krapopolis" is too Good for This Show
1 December 2023
My eyes glazed over watching this show. It's so uninteresting. The characters have such monotone, long-winded rambling dialogue. I can tell there's intended to be jokes jammed into every other sentence, but the delivery is lacking so much energy nothing registers and it results in one boring dreary run-on sentence after another.

I definitely recognize that there are supposed to be jokes, I hear them and just get so bored because everything just prattles on and on and on in the same tone and same "witty" dialogue. All the characters blend together. All the dialogue blends together. All the lines blend together. This show is just completely nothing.

Luca (2021)

The final word of the movie is "Fine" Which describes this movie perfectly.

The soundtrack is probably the most enjoyable part. This movie is pretty decent, but overall kind of boring. The characters are somewhat dull and I felt like their personalities were all too vague and indistinct.

I wanted to like it more, and I like the idea that it was very low-key and character-driven, its just a shame the characters weren't compelling to me. It feels like there isn't a solid enough motivation behind any of the characters' goals or actions. All the goals make enough sense, but none of them feel like "this is Luca's goal. Only Luca would want this." You could swap out any motivation for any character and it would make enough sense. That's the problem I have. Everyone is too indistinct.

Everything Genndy is Known for is Nowhere to be Seen Here
2 July 2023
A show that seems too desperate to move on to the next idea before finishing figuring out what the point of the idea before even was.

There are so many plot points that are brought up and then dropped immediately and character motivations and lore that make no sense if you give them a minute of thought.

The action is incredibly generic with no sense of stakes or atmosphere (something Genndy is usually masterful with), the main cast doubles in size to by the end of the 1st season without exploring any one of them outside of Emma (Sen doesn't do anything of note the entire season), and the pacing is atrocious.

I truly don't know what happened here. Every aspect, except for the art direction, absolutely fails, making a final product that is below generic. Way too many ideas crammed together without thought. This show feels incredibly unfocused and rushed.
