My new favourite film
30 May 2023
I'm shocked that there are only two reviews at the time of posting.

This film needs to be seen by more people, it's not a stupid flimsy romcom that seem to clutter the industry these days, think more "Once", Before Sunrise, Lost in Translation and Forget Me Not (with Tobias Menzies). It's a music inspired romantic drama rather than a romcom. It does have a few nice comedic moments but it's not silly, the acting is actually very good and sincere, and the story is very engaging.

Martha Tilston is very talented indeed, she wrote, directed and starred in this her debut film, and the music that she wrote for this is just sublime, great lyrics with lovely melodies. If you like folk music with a sprinkling of Tori Amos and Kate Bush then this will be a treat for you. The music is mostly performed live, if not all.

Set in Cornwall and little bit of the City London, it's a real feel good film that's good on the eyes too.

Enjoy.

Lost in Translation in London
24 March 2023
Yeah, this film is amazing. The most underrated romantic drama of all time.

It's curiously a strange cousin to Lost in Translation.

Beautifully shot in London at some great locations. Cinematography is top notch.

Brilliantly acted. Just so gorgeous to look at. It deserves to be on Blu-ray. I would buy it to replace my worn out dvd.

Lovely London, great acting, great story.

Blah blah blah, why do we need to use 600 letters to explain how good a movie is.

It's really good, really great, really excellent.

Before Sunrise and Lost in Translation, yeah yeah yeah. It's just as good, so great.

London never looked so good.

I really love it, oh yeah!....

Terrible remake
2 March 2023
I would advise watching the original A Man Called Ove. As is often the case, the producers of this remake give the viewer no credit with any intelligence, instead they leave nothing for the viewer to interpret things for themselves. Hanks has done some great stuff but this one isn't among them. He basically just plays a grump without any depth or quirks to his personality. The original is a drama with a touch of black humour whereas this is much more comedic, almost as if the producers were scared that the viewer wouldn't be able to handle the dark content of the original. I'm currently watching the original again because this remake really has tarnished my memory a very good movie.

What!

How is this rated above the first movie! I can't put it into words.

Time will tell, the ratings will eventually be true.

The first is a joy, the second is forced.
