Halo: Reach (2024)
A Vast Improvement
So much action in this episode, it was bloody fantastic. So this is what the last 3 episodes of dragged out boring talking has been building up to. This episode was a much welcomed improvement and the best episode of the show so far. I liked so much, the action is outstanding, the dialogue is much improved and I actually started to feel like the Covenant is a very dangerous force to be reckoned with.
Now some people probably have been complaining that the Spartans do not have their armour in this episode, but it just shows that they don't need armour anyways to be tough. Especially Master Chief, he has a couple to hand to hand fights with Elites in this episode and he still kicks butt without his armour. Admiral Jacob Keyes was also fantastic in this episode, his speech was a delight.
So far in series 2 I've been thinking, and this allies to any project which is based off of a book or video game. Is that if you're not going to stick to the source material provided to you and just use the characters and overall story detail at least still tell a good story which people will still enjoy to watch. Now many people might watch this and never even played the game or read any books surrounding Halo but at least the story is still in some ways interesting. There are some parts in this show I enjoy, but a lot of bits which I just think are boring. Controversial opinion, but I've started to not care about John also having on the Master Chief costume, its shows us who the character of John is and not just Master Chief, and I also think Pablo Schreiber is an excellent actor and is a pretty good protagonist and the right choice for Master Chief.
Doctor Who: The Giggle (2023)
Just Something Truly New and Refreshingly Brilliant
What a fantastic episode, it was just outstanding from start to finish. This completely exceeded my expectations, just truly brilliant, RTD as really shocked and amazed us all.
First of all Neil Patrick Harris as the Toymaker was just brilliant. Brilliant casting by RTD. He was menacing, funny and outstanding. He stoke the episode and was just brilliant in every scene.
This episode really does celebrate 60 years of Doctor Who in a very clever way. Linking the past 57 years from the Toymaker's first appearance to now, just think of what the Doctor has done since then.
Now the regeneration twist was just a brilliant, genius idea. The bigeneration of David Tennant and Ncuti Gatwa was fantastic seeing two Doctors on screen was riveting and Ncuti Gatwa is excellent what a brilliant actor he is. It was a welcome change of pace to actually have a taste of what his Doctor will be like rather than the plain old regenerate and end the episode. This is where it also gets emotional as to why the Doctor has bigenerated, it's because he's been through so much pain and suffering for not just 15 years but their whole life and they just cannot hold that anymore. The Fourteenth Doctor can live a normal life remembering that pain and finally settle down with a family, meanwhile the Fifteenth Doctor and forget that pain and go onto adventuring.
The Fourteenth Doctor might have Tenth's body and many similarities, however there is just one difference he's much more emotional and open about his feelings. He holds all the emotion that the Doctor has been through.
Bonnie Langford also returns as Melanie Bush which she was great in the episode. Jemma Redgrave is also always great as Kate Stewart.
Now I think RTD is building up to many big things. There are two moments in this episode in which makes me so excited for the future which is someone picks up the Master in which he was trapped inside the Toymaker's gold tooth. The other bit which is very intriguing is the Toymaker mentions a person which he references as "the One Who Waits" who he was scared to confront. This is probably the same person who is the Meep's boss.
The Christmas episode also looks great fun and I cannot wait for Ncuti's Doctor to be fully fleshed out and Millie Gibson's Ruby Sunday to be introduced.
Doctor Who: Wild Blue Yonder (2023)
Strange and Bonkers
This episode takes Doctor Who back to basics of the Doctor and Companion just exploring a place it felt very much like classic Doctor Who in that aspect. This episode starts off with a funny joke with Issac Newton and from there onward it's a slow burner while the Doctor and Donna are exploring the spaceship. Then you have the big reveal of the actual aliens they are fighting against on this spaceship. The reveal was brilliantly done and was frightening and laughable at the same time. The episode had me going through a range of emotions from being scared, sad and laughing at the same time.
What I found most intriguing was the fact that there is some emotional moments with the Doctor about his past and what he has been through since he was the Tenth incarnation which is quite a lot. He's lost 4 companions, died 3 times, saved the universe from the Flux and found out that his whole life is a lie. The stuff that does get mentioned is the flux and the timeless child which I am happy that the Chibnall era is getting some acknowledgement even though most people hated that era and probably want to forget it and move on.
Both David Tennant and Catherine Tate were excellent in this episode. So glad they kept this episode a secret because its brilliant watching an episode you don't really know anything about, and watching the mystery of that was just brilliant I hope RTD does this more often.
Excellent episode a really good watch.
Doctor Who: The Star Beast (2023)
It was Okay
I find this episode just watchable its your classic basic Doctor Who story and it works in most places. The Meep was excellent from it being innocent to then just pure evil which was a brilliant reveal even though a bit predictable. It's great to see David Tennant and Catherine Tate back and they play the characters like they never ever left.
Now the main complain people have about this episode is that it's still woke. Which this episode does have PC aspects but it's very forgettable. Rose being transgender shouldn't be criticised as woke I think Yasmin Finnay was good as Rose Noble and her being transgender merges in with the plot. However, I got to say the line "did you just assume its gender?" Wasn't called for and was a bit cringe. As well as the bit when its revealed the reason Donna was saying Binary at the end of Journey's End was because she would have a child who would identify as Non-Binary. Pretty sure people identifying as Non-Binary wasn't around during 2008.
The CGI has improved drastically, I'm not sure what the Sonic Screwdriver does now. They really made most of the money they received from Disney.
Overall I think it wasn't the greatest episode to start the 60th anniversary and a new big era of Doctor Who, but the episode is watchable to say the least.
Wolf (2023)
A Twisted, Dark, Edge on your seat Thriller
I thought this series was brilliant. Honestly don't know why people ain't talking more about this one because its very dark, quite gory in some parts and well acted. Every episode keeps you guessing and making you want to watch more. Sacha Dhawan and Iwan Rheon as Honey and Molina were such a blast in this they were fantastic, their acting talents are really being wasted on british television they are Emmy worthy in this. Ukweli Roach as DI Jack Cafferty was great he was perfectly casted in the role. As well as some of the supporting roles were excellent such as Owen Teale surprisingly not playing a villain here, Juliet Stevenson, Sian Reese Williams and Annes Elwy were all fantastic.
Every episode makes the mystery more juicy and the pay-off was fantastic. The only downside about this is that there does seem like too many questions to answer by the final episode but surprisingly the finale didn't feel rushed. Its an excellent series highly recommend.
Luther: The Fallen Sun (2023)
Entertaining, but not brilliant
Luther's transition to the movie industry is a bit of a mixed one. The movie is entertaining, but it lacks in a lot of corners. First of all Idris Elba is brilliant as always as the titled character John Luther (Former DCI). Andy Serkis is also quite entertaining, but when his real motives are revealed is a bit of a disappointment. The movie does shy away from the typical one man maniac serial killer that the show has lots of. Even though Andy Serkis' villain here is a maniac the things he's doing aren't acted on his own. He's the main villain but he has a lot of followers and people working for him, which hasn't been done before in Luther.
However, the movie is still entertaining. There are some really good moments are standout scenes. The scene where Luther escapes prison is pretty thrilling.
The best scene is the Piccadilly Circus bit, that was horrifying and the sequences afterwards were also thrilling. There are a few good twists as well in the middle half of the film.
The final act of the movie is where the movie gets a bit far-fetched and the pay-off isn't that satisfying, but not totally frustrating just a bit lacklustre. In the final act Luther and Odette travel to somewhere very cold and full of snow, not sure where exactly. The cinematography here is a standout, the landscape looks bloody gorgeous. They them arrive at a house covered in ice and snow which is chilling. This place os the location of the red bunker, a place where all the kidnapped victims are held and where they live-stream a show so the viewers can choose how the victims are gonna die, very sinister, but not quite what I was expecting the direction the movie was gonna take.
Overall, entertaining movie with a lacklustre conclusion, but overall performances were good. I think they will make more and I think they should make more. The movie was a nice way to transition the franchise to movie from TV, and Idris Elba is brilliant as Luther, he makes the character an iconic piece of TV and I'd rather him carrying on with Luther than be James Bond.
Happy Valley (2014)
Phenomenal British Crime Series
Only started watching Happy Valley at the start of this year because of the hype and marketing around its return to TV, and so glad I gave it a go because this show is brilliant. The shocks, characters, villains, script and story telling in this is excellent and very enjoyable. Happy Valley might just sound like your typical crime drama but it is and much more. It feels so realistic and its so dark and gritty. Its not for the faint-hearted, but its still brilliant.
The series is helmed by its protagonist, Catherine Cawood, performed brilliantly by Sarah Lancashire. Her Iconic and dramatic performance will go down as one of the best in British TV history.
The villain is also excellent and very enjoy. Tommy Lee Royce played by James Norton is just brilliant. He's so creepy and disturbing and he feels so realist. Honestly there are some moments with him that creeped the hell out of me. Everyone says be should be the next Bond, Nah I want him as a Bond Villain. He is so menacing in this he has the capability to perform a Bond Villain on the big screen.
My series reviews:
Series 1 is the best, it has many twists and turns and is the darkest of them all and Tommy Lee Royce is at his most unpredictable and despicable here. Episode 1 and 2 are brilliant introductions to the characters and the storyline for the series. But episode 3 is where is really takes a dark turn when Tommy murders Kirsten McAskill, its so horrifying and disturbing it will haunt you for weeks. But for me there is another just plain creepy bit with Tommy in episode 2 when he asks if Ann is a virgin and then rapes her is so creepy. Episode 4 then has a brilliant end when Catherine rescues Ann. The conclusion of this series in episode 6 is satisfying when Ashley Cowgill, another excellently well played character performed by Joe Armstrong, gets killed in shockingly fashion. Tommy gets caught in this episode just before he tries to kill him and his son, Ryan.
Series 2 is a bit mixed but still great. It has an excellent premise and is pretty well done. The main story for this series is that Catherine finds the body of Tommy's mother which is linked to a series of prostitution murders in the area. Now the reveal of the killer is a bit overwhelming but still satisfying. Another murderer in this series is Detective Sergeant John Wadsworth who murders a woman who had been blackmailing him and then he tries to link that murder with the prostitute murders. That story ends well in a weird way but still entertaining.
Series 3 is where it really comes back into full form and after 7 years of absence from TV its like nothing has changed in the show besides everyone being older. The series puts Tommy right back at the centre after a body is found which puts him in the frame for the persons murder. Meanwhile there is another storyline going on with Ryan's PE teacher, Rob Hepworth, who is an abusive husband to a wife, Joanna Hepworth, which he catches taking unprescribed Diazepam with. Long story short Joanna and Faisal, the chemist which has been giving her Diazepam, plots to murder Rob, but Faisal ends up killing Joanna instead. First of all I like to give Mark Stanley who plays Rob some credit he is excellent here and gives his best performance he has done, its hard to believe he played Gren from the Nights Watch in Game of Thrones. Mollie Winnard as Joanna is also excellent. However I feel like this story ended poorly as it doesn't get resolved properly, but I'll come back to this in a minute. In the fourth episode Tommy is in court and escapes in thrilling fashion at the end of the episode, but just before that Rob discovers Joanna's body in chilling fashion. Now the final ever episode was excellent and ended Tommy and Catherine's rivalry in a satisfying way, the rivalry comes full circle. However I feel like it was rushed and this series could have done with an extra episode or two. Joanna's murder doesn't get solved, although Faisal is identified as the supplier of Diazepam and Rob does get arrested but not for murder or abuse for photos on his phone.
Overall excellent series, I enjoyed it very much. I hope the BBC produce more like this in the future.
SAS Rogue Heroes: Episode #1.6 (2022)
A Great Show with a Stellar Cast
Well the first season of SAS: Rogue Heroes was so fresh. I thoroughly enjoyed the whole series. It was funny, well-written and action packed. The show is mainly held by the cast. The 3 mains were terrific and so well cast. Connor Swindells was brilliant as David Stirling, he was funny, well-British and played the character with just the right amount of emotion. Alfie Allen was excellent as Jock Lewes and Jack O'Connell was fantastic as Paddy "the Madman" Main. The supporting cast were also great Dominic West was excellent, so was Sofia Boutella as Lieutenant Colonel Wrangel Clarke and Eve Mansour respectively. Plus some of the SAS soldiers were good such as Jacob McCarthy, Tom Glynn-Carney, Bobby Schofield and Stuart Campbell.
Overall there was some good action scenes and the training scenes were excellent and funny.
This final episode was brilliant it was action packed, emotional and shocking. Connor Swindells was excellent throughout the whole series but here he is at his best. The ending ends in typical Steven Knight fashion.
I do feel the need for a series 2.
Andor: Rix Road (2022)
A Thrilling and Suburb Surprise
The finale of Andor is a brilliant ending to a brilliant first season. Everything was pitch perfect and incredibly crafted in this series. From Nemik's Manifesto to Maarva's speech from the grave to finally the people of Ferrix standing up to the Empire. The build up in this episode was phenomenally done and the battle sequence was just so amazing. This episode was such a perfect way to close the first season.
Overall Andor was something fresh and exciting which Star Wars has never done before. Andor is definitely the most well-crafted and well-made TV show they have produced. It might just be the best Disney+ original TV show thus far. The first 3 episodes were brilliant openers. Then the next arc was thrilling, which closed with the best episode of the season, The Eye. The Eye was amazing, it was so intense and thrilling I was sitting on the edge of my seat the whole way through. And the last segment of the episode which was the Tie fighter Escape scene is one of the best Star Wars moments ever, it was so beautiful and thrilling it was incredible.
The Prison was pretty interesting too, Andy Serkis gave an incredible performance as Kino Loy. Its one of the best performances he has done and one of the best in Star Wars itself. The prison arc ended in such a satisfying way but also emotional one.
Talking about characters I really enjoyed Luthen Rael, Stellan Skarsgard's performance was excellent. Syril Karn was also an interesting character and to see his development throughout the show was enjoyable and Dedro Meero was a thrilling sort of main villain for the series. Mon Mothma was also good, Bix Caleen and Vel Sartha were also good characters to get invested into, and he was only in 2 scenes, but Forest Whittaker's Saw Gerrera was brilliant in both appearances.
I am so glad they are making 3 seasons of Andor, they didn't give it the one season Obi Wan Kenobi treatment. However, I feel like we didn't know a lot about Cassian Andor in Rogue one so to see a prequel based around mainly him and the forging of the Rebel Alliance is just thrilling and it really does fill in a lot of gaps of the Empires time between the prequel movie series and the original series.
The Walking Dead: Rest in Peace (2022)
So Long and Goodbye
Overall I think that was such a satisfying conclusion it wasn't to dramatic, but gave closure the the series in such a satisfying way. First of all AMC lied saying that it was gonna be 90 minutes long, its not its 65 minutes long. However, they do fit everything in. From Luke and Jules' death in the start of the episode to Rosita's death towards the end of the show. The episode showed Pamela get thrown into a cell and Mercer becoming the new leader of the Commonwealth. After Pamela gets arrested and the Horde is dealt with there is a time-jump which sets up all of the upcoming spin-offs. Daryl rides off to France looking for Rick, Maggie goes to Manhattan to look for more people and the best of all Rick and Michonne appear in the final moments of the episode to set up their spin-off. It was so good to see them again and I cannot wait for their spin-off.
Overall, this is a satisfying conclusion to this very long running series, I didn't feel as emotional as it should feel, but thats because most of the major main characters (with the exception of Carol) are getting there own spin-offs. However, we did say goodbye to a lot of characters which are also brilliant such as Aaron, Ezekiel, Eugene, Mercer, Princess, Jerry and Gabriel, all of which have come so far from their original introduction.
The Walking dead, you will be missed.
Gangs of London: Episode #2.8 (2022)
What did they do?
What were they thinking this second season was dreadful, it started off great but then after the midway point it takes a nosedive into the bottom of a trash bin. It started off so good with the Investers being powerful and I actually felt like thy were a organisation which would be hard to get rid. The return of Sean Wallace was brilliant, even though I would have saved that reveal until the back half of the series. From there it was Sean vs the Investers, but after episode 5 it became Sean vs Elliot and the investers vanished. After the midway point some very daft and stupid betrayals happened which just didnt feel right. Sean betraying Lale for a business deal with Asif and the worst of all Marian betraying her own sons so she can become on top of London's gangs. Sean teaming up with Koba was a good twist but Koba just became a side goon after that.
Now to the actual review of the season finale, it was DREAD. It was a hard watch. First of all Koba dying from a poisoned burger was just dreadful. Then you have the Sean vs Elliot fight which Elliot won again, it would have been better for Sean to come out on top as Elliot almost killed him at the end of the last season. Then Elliot doesnt kill Sean but Sean ends up in Jail. Thats not even the worst part Elliot becomes the king of London's gangs and Asif teams up with Lale, the person who killed his SON. Some of the twists just do not make sense and are just poorly explained.
One more thing, Luan was one of the main focuses of the first half which was brilliant, he's a great character, but after the midway point he's pushed into the back of the queue of all the other characters who want to have shining moments.
I do not know who to route for anymore in this tv series and I do not know how its gonna go from here, just give us more action and well-written plot teists that just make sense.
House of the Dragon: The Black Queen (2022)
Epic Finale to an Epic first season
This finale was epic and really sets the stakes of whats coming next. This episode really felt like the perfect closure to the first season and it was epically executed. Daemon as also was the highlight of the episode, but so was Aemond in the little time we saw him. Lucerys Velaryon becomes the first death by Aemond, or shpuld I day Vhagar, in the war of the Blacks vs Greens which really sets the war in motion, that whole sequence was just epic and stunning. Season 2 will be brutal and fantastic. Rhaenyra was also good in this episode she is declared the Black Queen. Plus Corlys Valaryon returns which I thought we might of saw the last of him after hearing about being possibly mortally wounded while fighting the Triarchy at the Stepstones.
Overall a solid first season, not as good as Game of Thrones' first season however. Favourite character has to be Daemon, Matt Smith is phenomenal in the role. Paddy Considine also deserves credit for a magnificent of King Viserys I Targaryen. The season does feel like it is split into two halves because of Rhaenyra and Alicent's recasting. The first half was my favourite Daemon is better in this half, Milly Alcock's Rhaenyra does shine in her betrayal, Viserys is in his prime and Otto is also more scheming in the first half, the Battle at the Stepstones was also a highlight and Criston Cole's origin into an Antagonist is perfect.
However, the second part of the season has its moments, Alicent's sons, Aegon II and Aemond are intriguing plus Helaena is innocent and interesting. Harwin Strong's character I think personally was wasted, his a Rhaenyra's relationship could have been more developed. However, his brother Larys Strong is brilliant in the second, he's creepy and menacing. Plus Viserys' death was heartbreaking and the coronation of Aegon II was epically done.
I cannot wait for season 2 there are so many things I am looking forward to see.
Doctor Who: The Power of the Doctor (2022)
A Satisfying Conclusion to a Mixed Era
A Satisfying conclusion to this Era of Doctor Who. This Era of Doctor Who has been mixed, its had its moments but has had a lot of downfalls and mixed moments. However, I think this is a satisfying conclusion to Whitaker and Chibnall's Era of Doctor Who. Sacha Dhawan's Master continues to be amazing and he shines in this, practically steals the show even if it does feel a bit over-the-top sometimes. Jodie Whitaker also shines in this episode, its one of her best performances of the Doctor and she ends her Doctor in a satisfying way. In this episode there are many returning faces and cameos, some confirmed some not. Bradley Walsh's Graham returns for a couple of scenes which were rumoured, Jo Martin's Fugitive Doctor has a Cameo, which wad expected. Some familiar classic companions return to have Cameos in one of the last scenes which includes Bonnie Langford's Mel, Katy Manning's Jo Grant and William Russell as Ian Chesterton which ties this episode back to its first ever episode back in 1963. The biggest and most surprising cameos though is 5 returning Classic Doctor's which include David Bradley (Playing as William Hartnell), Peter Davison, Colin Baker, Sylvester McCoy and Paul McGann. This episode really sets the stage for the 60th anniversary with all these cameos. Tegan and Ace are the main returning Classic Companions, and this episode is somewhat of a better closure for their characters. There are plenty of easter eggs and references to the past in this episode which has been a Chibnall thing for his Era. The ending scene of Thirteenths Regeneration is just the Cherry on top with David Tennant returning as the Doctor. So excited for Doctor Who in 2023 and looking forward to Ncuti Gatwa's debut.
House of the Dragon: The Heirs of the Dragon (2022)
Welcome back to Westeros
A solid start for this prequel show. Now not as good as Game of Thrones' first episode but the episode really delves back into the Game of Thrones with the question of who will next sit on the Iron Throne. The episode delves right back into what the Targaryen's are and how powerful they are. I think the casting choices are perfect, Matt Smith kills it as Daemon and I think he will be the best thing to come out of the show. Paddy Constantine is also great and aa his character to a certain emotion. Milly Aycock also shines as young Rhaenyra and Rhys Ifans plays his character with menace and power. I Cannot Wait For More.
The Sandman (2022)
Epic, Slow-Burning Fantasy that keeps you wanting more
Now I have never read the comics, but I have heard about them and when I heard that Netflix were gonna make an adaptation I was interested, and I was amazed of how great this series is and how challenging it must've been to adapt this comic to screen.
First of all Tom Sturridge kills it in this role. He makes Dream/Morpheus a chilling, menacing and powerful character that you can instantly get invested into. He really brings everything to the series and gives an incredible performance to the titled character, personally for me he made this show.
Other characters I enjoyed were Gwendoline Chrissie's Lucifer, Jenna Coleman's Johanna Constantine, David Thewlis' John Dee and Boys Holbrook's Corinthian who shined in this role and Played the Corinthian in true villainous fashion.
Now this is a slow-burning show and it is best to be binge-watched. The first 6 episodes were really entertaining and fun to watch. Episode 6 was definitely the best in the series. Then in the last 4 episodes, they did decline in quality a bit and were less interesting, the Corinthian was the standout in these set of episodes, but my main issue is that Dream takes a back seat in these episodes and is barely in them, in one or two of them he only shows up half way into the episode. Then you have the episode Collectors which was a fun watch, but in the next episode Dream comes along late as ever to save the day in the first 10 minutes of the episode. Episode 5 is also guilty of this too, but that was way more entertaining to watch.
As for the Bonus Eleventh Episode that Netflix dropped it was entertaining. The First 15 minutes, which was "dream of a thousand Cats" was weird but entertaining, then "Calliope" was the step in the right direction. I was shocked to find out Dream had a son with a goddess. Arthur Darvill also did an incredible performance in this episode.
There is still a lot of stuff that I still like to see in this series such the Endless we didn't see snd there is also Lucifer's plan for war and Desire's scheming against Dream to explore so I really hope Netflix gives us a Series 2.
Doctor Who: Flux: Chapter Four - Village of the Angels (2021)
Personally, I think this Doctor Who's scariest episode
Blink is considered the best and scariest episode of Doctor Who, though the Village of the Angels I think was way more terrifying. Within this episode you get the scene with Yaz and Dan and the Weeping Angel, you also get Claire who is firstly supposedly turning into an angel. The drawing of the Angel which gets set on fire was beautiful and terrifying at the same time. The Angel talking to Jericho from out if the TV was chilling. Also theres the scene where the angels are coming through the tunnel is also terrifying, but theres also the missing girls aunty and uncle getting turned to stone and then the doctor turning into a Weeping Angel was the cherry on top, its probably one of Doctor Who's most scariest scenes and transformations that we have seen, probably up there with the gas mask transformation in the Empty Child.
Maxine Alderton is a masterclass in the horror genre which was also clearly demonstrated in her other episode, the Haunting of Villa Diodati. I really hope we get more of her writing horror episodes for Who in the future. I feel like she really has made the Weeping Angels more terrifying and mysterious again.
This is probably my second favourite episode of the Chibnall era and I just wish series 11 and 12 were this good. Whitaker is also fantastic in this, she really does do a good performance of acting surprised and shocked as well as taking charge of the scene. So far this season Whitaker has been so good I think this is the season where she makes the doctor her own and I just wish we had this in series 11 and 12.
I an so Looking forward to next weeks episode, I had to rewind my TV to actually clarify myself on Kate Stewart so happy she has returned after so. The last time we saw her was the Zygon episodes back in 2017. Hopefully we will get some answers to the many questions Flux has presented to us. Just expect the unexpected.
Doctor Who: Flux: Chapter Two - War of the Sontarans (2021)
Sontarans at their best
Personally I think this might be the second best Sontaran based episode behind their first appearance in the Time Warrior. After the Time Warrior they were just butchered. The Sontaran experiment is OK however their Sobtaran design looks stupid and I do not know why they changed the look from Linx. Commander Linx is by far the most hideous looking sontaran which makes him the best. In their next two appearances (invasion of time and the two Doctors) they look stupid and act stupid. Then their first appearance in the rival they look more human like and are shorter and have a crappy looking armour. From there they are just played off as comic relief (mainly because of how they look).
However, in this episode they are brutal. They look like alien warmongering aliens who you wouldn't want to mess with despite their potato looking head. In this episode no comic relief is played off and the main Sontaran, Commander Skaak is the best since Commander Linx. What I like more anout Skaak is that he looks and seems older than the rest making him feel like he has more of a bigger presence and his and the doctors confrontation does remind me of the third and fourth doctors interactions with the Sontarans and other villains. The armour that the Sontaran wear is also brilliantly designed, looking dirty and battered like they have been in battle.
A brilliant episode for a long awaiting returning villain. Chibnall will be remembered for his approach with returning villains.
The Walking Dead: On the Inside (2021)
Terrifying
This has got to be one of the most terrifying, loved the horror theme. Some scenes were really terrifying and I'm so glad Connie is back.
What If...?: What If... Doctor Strange Lost His Heart Instead of His Hands? (2021)
So Emotional
This episode was phenomenal. It exceeded my expectations in every way. I think it broke my heart a little. What emotional rollercoaster. I do not know how they are gonna top it.
The Walking Dead: Acheron: Part II (2021)
Very Dark and Gritty, and I love it
This episode has got to be one of the scariest. The episode has many great moments from Gage's death to that ending. The ending gave me chills and makes me very excited for the next episode I really hope the Reapers don't loose there scariness because that ending was terrifying. Though I'm having feeling that Maggie's new way of doing things is not gonna work. I like Maggie but she's become a bit of a hypocrite, however loving the bits with her and Negan. Daryl has another very badass sequence which is always nice to see. Overall this episode was terrifying and very dark and I am loving it.
Britannia: The Return of the Chosen One (2021)
What an ending
Seriously its kind of sad that bot enough people watch this show its brilliant and satisfying television its very weird but in its own unique way and its works. Anyway on to the episode; now that was an ending, very shocked and very excited for the next one. The opening scenes were also great. Morrissey is always brilliant in this and the new character of Hemple is weird but I'm interested to see what comes next.
The Walking Dead: Acheron: Part I (2021)
A Darker Tone
I loved the darker tone to this episode, the trailer hints at a darker tone and it certainly paid off. This episode gave me chills. The opening scene was creepy and all the tunnel scenes gave me a feeling of isolation. The scenes with the commonwealth are greatly fun and the introduction of Mercer is satisfying to see. And finally we get a proper moment with Negan and Maggie I really hope they do something great with their dilemma. Cant wait for more.
The Flash: The One with the Nineties (2021)
Why the Hate
I don't know why people are hating on this episode is wasn't that bad, I thought it was a pretty great episode. It was funny, emotional and it was great to see character development for Chester, a character which I quite like. I don't know how people can say that this is Iris-washed. She was in the epidode the most besides Chester snd Cisco but she was just there so the speedforce-Nora can get some development. This concept of the episode, which is a timeloop, has been dine a lot but its still entertaining. And yes the villain was a bit mediocre and had a pep talk, but the villain was barely in it anyways. Overall the episode wasn't perfect, but people need to stop expecting the best from each episode, the episode was filler but not a throw away one especially if you are a fan of Chester and Cisco. And just because the Flash is not in it that much doesn't mean its a bad thing. He's the protagonist but that doesn't mean he needs to be i every episode. There is 18 episodes this season, which is enough to flesh out all of the characters and villains. And I'm starting to like Iris a bit more recently, she has changed a little after coming out of the mirrorverse and she's not been as bossy and egotistical.
Is the Flash at the stage when everyone expects the best out of each episode?
Loki: Glorious Purpose (2021)
My first marvel show
I've recently only just got Disney plus meaning this is my first marvel show and I had a blast of how good it was. Its funny, emotional and all-round entertaining. Tom Hiddleston's Loki has always been a fan favourite and Tom kills it hear with scenes of comedy, evil and emotional sadness. Owen Wilson is brilliant as Mobius I'm surprised the MCU didn't cast him sooner in anything else because he fits perfectly in the MCU. The first episode is just an all-round perfect episode and I cannot wait for more.
Line of Duty: Episode #6.7 (2021)
THIS CANNOT BE THE ENDING!!!
And there was me thinking episode 1 of season 6 was bad. This cannot be the ending I really hope they confirm a season 7 because this was utter trash. Every season finale of LoD has been action packed and full of plot twists but this didn't seem to land. You'd think they try a little harder if this was the final episode ever (which I really hope its not). 5 seasons of pure gold TV and season six had its moments but wasnt up to standards of what it should have been.
However, I don't mind Ian Buckells being the fourth man he has been there since the first season, I just wish there was a better pay off. And there are so many unanswered questions and things I expected and wanted to happen and it didn't. I think they missed the opportunity to confirm that Chloe Bishop was Gates' daughter even if they confirmed it subtly it would've bern fine. Hastings getting the boot i'm just not happy with and Arnott might get the boot as well. Osborne has to be bent but it wasn't confirmed. So disappointed. Even James Nesbitt's Marcus Thurwell didn't show up I still think he's alive and will probably definately turn up in season 7 if there's gonna be one which I wish they will be as they cannot end one of the best and most monumental British TV show in recent years. They cannot Game of Thrones'd this please BBC cut us some slack you know you'll be getting a pay rise if you do because Ratings have bern through the roof recent and I bet they've been buying two beers down the pub rather than the usual cats piss they've been drinking. Anyway please Line of Duty season 7 needs to happen please.
