Gareth Hughes

Hughes was the first significant Welsh silent film star of Hollywood and certainly very successful during his early career. He was very much the toast of Hollywood and well liked amongst his contemporaries. He had all that you would imagine a Hollywood actor would have! The Hollywood mansion, staff, a flashy car and the big pay packet to go with it.

Even though this well made documentary just touches on his Hollywood career and life, you still get sense of what it was like for him during his time there.

This documentary doesn't claim that Hughes was the first Welsh silent film as mr-tattoo suggests. However it does make the argument that Hughes was the first Welsh silent film star in Hollywood to make an significant mark. If you get the chance to watch this film which was made by his 3rd.cousin with contributions from Hughes' great nephew and other relatives and friends. Then please do.
