Doctor Who: Turn Left (2008)
(SPOILERS ....) Up there with the best of the best WHo episodes of all
firstly, i loved the Donna-less episode MIDNIGHT. Yes i missed DOnna but it was more effective for this. Now we come to turn left. An episode that for me was Catherine's Tourdeforce. The whole cause and effect, what if scenario worked beautifully for me. I really felt for DOnna and i feel cemented her as one of the great assistants of the Doctor. It was great to see Rose and yes her performance seemed a little off but when carried to the finale its a coherent character change so I feel she was acting it spot on (its just it seems a little off at the time) A doctor less world was moving - it really linked the themes of the various series in a neat way and perfectly set the wheels in motion for the finale. For all this time i had longed for ROse to come back and i have loved the way they have done it. BUt at the same time, I was more interested in Donna. A brilliant episode, Really
Doctor Who: Midnight (2008)
This is pure WHO at its best (SPOILERS)
its great that everyone has a different opinion and whilst watching this I knew people would hate it...but i was firmly in the loved it camp.
Now i love Donna in this series - but it was a nice rest bite as i feel she got her episode in Turn Left.
Lesley sharp was brilliant (as always) - and David Tennant underplayed this perfectly. The fact that the repeating lines went on and on was brilliant - its supposed to drive you mad -it all adds to the creepiness.
Yes its been done before - but as just 45 minutes long this manages to build up the tension perfectly - and reiterate the way things get out of hand in such intense situations.
I liked how the stewardess saved the day - i don't think it was a cop out. I even loved the brief sight of rose.
In fact it was brilliant and pure Who in my opinion. I ve loved it from the beginning...and i have loved this latest era of Doctor Who
Being Human: Pilot (2008)
Just your average houseshare really.....
may have spoilers...
Had no preconceptions of this as hadnt seen any trailers Just happened to be on BBC3 when it started.... As a one -off I thought it was inspired....very British....solid acting... believable characters and their struggles against their individual curses....
The 3 leads were outstanding - and whilst it sets itself up beautifully for a series following the ghost, vampire and werewolf and their insights into faith, knowledge, instinct, loneliness and exactly what defines a 'monster' and what defines 'human' I would be worried that such a brilliant opening would be let down if it decended into a mainly blade type vampire series.
Anyway - this is ace and i cant rate it highly enough.
