The Dresden Files (2007)
Underrated, please resume series
Seems most of the critics here complain about this show diverging from the book version. If I was younger & read them, maybe I'd agree. However, this TV series IS well scripted/ acted & enjoyable, FAR better than many cheesier SF hits like Avatar, etc. At 60yo, I've other things to do aside reading fantasy now & this was a quality series that ended far too soon.
Popeye (1980)
Highly underrated.
Maybe it's not thought provoking, diverse & use popular hit songs--but it's still genius at casting /set work & the ability to bring a comic strip character to life without 'in your face' violence & mind blowing CGI. I'm surprised a director even risked trying, that's a TALL order. Many higher rated movies fair poorly over time due to their referencing current fads (Shrek?), Popeye won't. It's worth rewatching just to study background details & overall cast acting, then you'll see it's greater than the sum of its parts.
Phineas and Ferb: Phineas and Ferb: Star Wars (2014)
It WILL surprise you-
From Space balls to Family Guy, SW parodies abound. Who'd guessed a child's cartoon could shame the others so well? The parallel plot was a great concept but the musical numbers, especially Candace's rant, will haunt you forever. IMHO, any upset die hard SW fans are simply jealous that it was such creative genius.
Koneko monogatari (1986)
Eye- opener many don't get
First off, I registered just to comment after reading other opinions. Second, it's incredibly well done and adults see the edge that today's PC media won't risk. Yes, there's crying kittens but it's scenic & overall adorable with NOTHING child offensive. Sure, as adults we realize some critters likely didn't survive--but for all we know, they then became livestock feed- or dinner. To dishonor nature by ignoring the cost of our survival is unethical just as being upset that others eat what we call pets seems racist. Sure, we've gone from arrows to packing plants to altering DNA- but at what price? IMHO, to deprive that reality from maturing minds to grasp is the greater insult, it's a loss of faith in them.
