Dexter: New Blood: Sins of the Father (2022)
Bold ending
I accidentally glimpse that the IMDb score before watching and dreaded to see what BS was about to unfold. While like everyone else I am not happy about Dexter breaking his code, his desperation to be there for his son is a whole new factor people should consider. People do wild and horrible things on tv shows to be there for their kids, and Dexter, a legit serial killer shouldn't need much of a push. Poor coach.
It was darkly poetic to see Harrison become "cured" by being the one to kill Dexter. I would like to think that this cures Harrison's murderous mindset, and he drives off to live a calm happy life somewhere else. I'll try not to think about the plotholes too much.
In the end it was a very entertaining show and I am glad I watched it!
The Colbert Report: Same to You, Pal (2014)
Silly & Sincere
I love this show for the outrageously silly moments, like interacting with Cookie Monster, as well as for the heart-wrenching sincere moments, such as when Stephen speaks about his mother. This finale had silly and sincere crammed into a half hour of wonderful TV. Any fan that invested 9 years in doing their very best to keep up with Stephen's shenanigans must have laughed so much, and teared up even more. I only wish this could have been a full hour finale, just to really give it the gravitas it deserved. I re-watched this finale immediately before the very first Colbert Late Show aired, and it's still so impactful and sad. Members of the Colbert Nation such as myself were instantly hit with Colbert withdrawal, and 9 months later we finally get to have him back!
