Trial 4 (2020)
The cops in the documentary are too set in their ways.
The documentary was generally engaging, though some parts dragged on and seemed less relevant to the case. Nonetheless, it was better than most Netflix documentaries.
A significant issue highlighted was the apparent stubbornness of the police department, the District Attorney's office, and particularly the old detectives interviewed. Their adamant stance that Mr. Ellis was guilty despite glaring issues in the case-speaks volumes about their competence, or ESPECIALLY the lack thereof. This stubbornness, coupled with a problematic press conference by the DA's office, painted a troubling picture of justice being mishandled.
The two former detectives stood out for their unwavering belief in a "clean" case, which to me, indicates a disturbing level of incompetence that likely contributed to the wrongful conviction of an innocent man for years. It's often the case that those who so pursue convictions against all evidence might be projecting deeper personal issues onto their professional responsibilities. (Probably bullied in school)
While everyone is entitled to their opinions, the facts, as presented by the evidence, tell a different story:
- Involved police officers had corrupt practices.
- Mulligan, the central figure, was compromised.
- Crucial evidence was overlooked and not reconsidered.
- Evidence was withheld and tampered with.
- Numerous questions remain unanswered.
Monster: Cassandra (2022)
Completely in line with the 1992 tensions
A lot of reviews don't understand the depth of this episode. This has nothing to do with the current snowflake of activist agenda we see and here nowadays so often. This was a time when in LA there were a lot injustices done towards black people like Rodney King example. The 1992 riots, caused shockwaves, look it up.
This episode shows perfectly, how it was as a black person in that time trying to reach the authorities to get justice. Impossible!
Where is the logic from the police letting this person (Jeff Dahmer) go so many times? Unforgiveable, a lot of errors were made and a lot of people reached out.
Jeen-yuhs: A Kanye Trilogy (2022)
Great documentary, but Kanye has issues.
The documentary is beautiful, going from the beginning of him getting famous to a full blown superstar. Having the early footage is great to see a rise of a superstar.
You can't deny Kanye has achieved everything he set out to do, but what I don't like is his arrogance.
Especially how he treats Coodie, you can grow apart that is part of life, but he has a lot to thank Coodie for. In the beginning of his career with Through the wire and the filming of all of it helped to promote himself. It feels a bit disrespecting and shows also the self centered character of Kanye.
All and all, great to see the hard work from Kanye paying off.
Mocro maffia (2018)
Great first two seasons
Season 1 and 2 are amazing. Good storylines and great acting from the Netherlands. Between two rival factions and easily understandable.
Season 3, I must say the newly cast people are very young and often don't act as good as the original cast. (Muis, Elias, Taliban, Mo de show) They miss also depth in their characters.
Zakaria is a main character but not doing it for me, he looks like 14 and it does not feel realistic to me.
He is not impressive in that role and it feels he is too young to be a soldier.
Season 4, the storylines are so scattered and there are: Mexicans, Paus, Turks, Romano to name some. It is difficult to follow.
I feel that they lost the magic from the first two seasons and part of it is the young cast and weird storylines.
Undercover: Festival Shop Super Sales (2021)
Much better season already then s02
This season is so much better than season 2. I am happy that Ferry is back. He brings back the dynamics of season 1.
Still early in the season, but the storyline is interesting and a nice cliffhanger at the end of the episode.
How to Become a Tyrant (2021)
Typical Netflix documentary that is not worth it.
If you like documentaries, don't watch this. The animated drawings are childish. Why did they not use actual footage? Much more interesting.
If you are intrigued by war and dictators, Ken Burns the War is a much better watch.
The Haunting of Bly Manor (2020)
Definitely less than the Haunting of hillhouse
It has the same dynamics, same characters and vibe. In that sense I like it, however I feel that the storyline is stretched. I miss a bit the scaryness in it in comparison to the other season. There needs to happen more in order to be more intriguing.
All or Nothing: Tottenham Hotspur (2020)
Beautiful documentary!
Amazon created a lovely insight in the locker room from the Spurs.
I was hesitant to watch it as my disliking of Mourinho. However, he is a great manager and I think after seeing this, often portrayed in a bad manner in interviews or press conferences.
He shows his winner mentality to a club that has not won silverware in a long time. Hopefully in the new season! Definitely a must watch!
Hunters (2020)
Great show
I don't get why this only gets a 7.2, its definitely a nice watch that tells about the war and aftermath with it, how America was a big importer of Nazi's.
The season get interesting from episode 3 and on. What I really like is that Nazi hunters went to look for the war criminals and this show shows us that did not show remorse for their crimes.
Sons of Anarchy (2008)
The storylines are so predictive.
Season 1 was good and two already started to go down hill. The MC seriously don't have brains.
Every stupid decision which then gets solved gets followed by another more stupid decision which takes them deeper into problems. Season 3 with Jax and his son is so ridicilous.
I am amazed how this gets a 8.6 and Better call saul just slightly gets higher. This is not more than a 7.
Fear City: New York vs the Mafia (2020)
Nothing special
They could have done everything in a single episode. It was too stretched and nothing new.
Black Mirror: Bandersnatch (2018)
Okay episode
I like the idea, however the pausing all the time made it annoying for me to watch.
I watched a couple of alternative endings. But it did not grab me as the previous episodes where I was buzzing after the episodes. So I liked the idea but for me stay with the old Black Mirror :)
