Secret Agent Selection: WW2 (2018)
A great insight to the brave volunteers of the SOE
Reality TV show? not really it was more of an insight into how "ordinary" people from all sorts of backgrounds, men and women volunteered to put their lives on the line to win the war. I think it truly showed how those actually trainee agents of the time would have had failure and success, doubts and fears. It also shows just how much you can't judge a book by it's cover and that Hollywood portrait of what a spy should be is some way off the mark. So at the end of the training, would they have been completely confident to go on missions? probably not but would still go anyway.
The Highwaymen (2019)
Slow
While it was good to watch a movie about Bonnie and Clyde from the view point of the men who ended there crime spree but I found it slow and a bit dull. Maybe those men where really like that in real life who knows but it don't make good viewing. It was interesting from a historical point of view just not so good from an entertaining point of view
Suicide Squad (2016)
Big budget Big stars BIG FAIL
It was like watching a long trailer for a movie I got he feeling the director got carried away with his budget made the movie far far to long then had to cut it down to a length that better suited cinemas and as a result made it just series of disjointed clips. Most of it is filmed in really poor lighting which might have worked in the cinema but on the small screen it really doesn't so many scenes are to dark to see what's happening. It's an odd thing that many films which have a star studded cast turn out to be the worst films I've watched. At least I watched it on Netflix so only wasted time watching it. I gave it 2 stars because I did manage to watch it all the way through
Slaughterhouse Rulez (2018)
Aren't comedies supposed to make you laugh
It has Simon Pegg in it so it's going to be hilarious right ....... Ummm NO .. ok it was a bit amusing but didn't make me even titter maybe a little smile creeped in now and then but that's it. As a film it wasn't totally terrible and ok to watch after a night out, after a lot of alcohol and you wanted something to munch you kebab to
Overlord (2018)
The Horrors of war knowing the history adds to this
Was this a horror film or a war movie? If you know the history of Operation Overlord the initial circumstances the soldiers found themselves in was what many actually did find themselves in. When it comes to the "horror" aspect to it, it's well documented that the Nazi did do some horrifying experiments on humans. Ok so the creators have stepped it all up a gear but you could say that they have accumulative represented the true horrors that happened in WW2 into 1 film. It's fast moving full of action and entertaining
Mortal Engines (2018)
Excellent effects and a good story
Ok so having Towns and Cites charging about the land on wheels is a bit of a silly concept. It made me think of some of the silly animations Terry Gilliam did for Monty Python. Anyway once you put that a side it was action packed, had a good story and the acting was good so all in all I enjoyed it
The Meg (2018)
Just another Jaws really
This is an ok film to watch but it's just another killer shark movie with nothing really to get you excited but I wasn't bored either so best to wait until it comes out on Netflix and you have some time to kill
Mary Poppins Returns (2018)
Did it live up to the original?
In some ways yes and in others no I think the spirit of the original was there and it brought back memories of watching the original as a child. What was missing though I'm sad to say was the memorable songs. I've literally just finished watching it and I don't remember any of them. As a film it was enjoyable to watch but I don't think any children watching it will remember it 40 years from now which is sad really. It was good to see a guest appearance of Dick Van Dyke but no Julie Andrews even if it had been a few seconds say in the reflection of the balloon (you'll know what I mean by that if you have watched it or if you watch it) would have been nice.
The Nutcracker and the Four Realms (2018)
Both myself and my granddaughter 6 loved this film and Poo Poo to all u haters
This movie was clearly made for children and adults who are still a child at heart. It's sad to read in these reviews how many of you seem to have lost that inner child. I think many who gave negative reviews also expected the film to be a movie of the ballet adhering exactly to the story but it doesn't which is not a bad thing because The Nutcracker Suit is probably one of the best know ballet in the world so giving it a bit of a rewrite gives it a new look. This is a genuine family movie suitable for all, which is somewhat of a rarity these days. The story was good, the acting was excellent. Just one last thing this film started showing at my local cinema well before Christmas it's now February and they are still running it. Could this be because contrary to the poor reviews here there are plenty of people who are loving it
Christopher Robin (2018)
I wish I knew where my silly old bear was
Watching this reminded me of my silly old bear but he wasn't a Pooh but a Baloo on account of him being Blue and he didn't come from a wood but a jungle. I always imagined Pooh and Baloo would have been great friends as we often played Pooh sticks together and they both shared a great love for HONEY!!! ... Baloo served for more than 40 years First looking after me and then my 3 children but sadly one day an evil creature which was a cross between a Woozle and a Hefferlump and is known as a Wifozalump ... or Wife for short.... took him away ...I don't know where and I don't suppose I will ever see him again ......That silly old bear
