The Simpsons: Poorhouse Rock (2022)
A New Low
I love good satire that skewers the ruling elite but this episode was just a political screed that, worst sin of all, wasn't the least bit funny. Someone should inform the writing team that the Democrats control the presidency and Congress at the moment so they aren't exactly speaking truth to power by taking on the Republicans. Finally the nihilistic message of the show: burn our political system down so that it may be rebuilt from the ground up makes it the antithesis of the far superior and uplifting Schoolhouse Rock being parodied. What a waste of guest Hugh Jackman's talents and my time.

Beautifully Animated
Anyone who watches the series straight through cannot help but notice that the animation quality is highly variable from one episode to the next. The animators for this particular episode were especially skillful and patient. It's of almost cinematic quality, hinting at what's to come in "Do You Remember Love".
Set in the days running up to Christmas, this episode shows how the holiday is celebrated somewhat differently in Japan as compared to the West. Christmas Eve is a romantic occasion; note the Christmas cake Mimmei and Hikaru share. This episode is the set-up for the resolution of the love triangle among Misa/Lisa - Hikaru/Rick - Minmei/Minmay in the finale and the final battle with Khyron.
