Must watch in 3D
23 July 2013
1. If you didn't watch this in 3D, you didn't REALLY watch it.

2. Cinematography rivals that of Avatar.

3. The end of two fight scenes where Mako speaks Japanese: sexiest scenes in an action movie since Riddick's "I bow to no man" before he kills the Necromonger goon.

END: Definitely better than Iron Man 3 (commercial Hollywood Sheeptainment), and Superman.

Old concepts are made into one powerful cinematic masterpiece. Some may say that Hollywood is running out of ideas so they are borrowing lots of concepts from Japanese Anime. Regardless of the "copying", this is definitely watchable even if your a hardcore Evo fan, or if you think this steals ideas from Ultraman, Ghost in the Shell, Godzilla, etc. etc.

BEST movie of Summer 2013 so far. Elysium is the only other contender.

Our loves and our youth.
9 June 2009
Without a doubt, Millennium Actress is a masterpiece. Fluid scene transitions, vibrant colors, and gorgeous pieces of music not only allow, but forces the viewer to feel empathy for the character. I admit, I was teary eyed for several scenes in the movie, it's cinema at its best.

The story, like Kon's Perfect Blue, is told in a way where reality and fantasy are blurred and joined. Unlike Perfect Blue, the truth and fiction are not important matters in Millennium Actress. Perfect Blue was a movie about an event. Millennium Actress is a movie about an emotion: Love. That search for the long lost love is the only thing that keeps one young. Chiyoko, the main character, travels through centuries and millenniums to find it, but always fails. Yet her zealous passion for this quest is what ultimately keeps her young, even at death.

Watching this film, we will all be reminded of that one passion we've had during our youthful days and be reminded about our quest to fulfill that passion. Maybe that feeling will return after you've viewed this movie. Maybe you'll regret certain actions and decisions that you've made in the past. But that's of no importance. Because at that point, the film has done its job and you'll feel a little warmer inside.

An Excellent Movie (from a non-FFVII fan)
24 March 2006
First of all, I would just like to say that I have never played, encountered, or even heard of FFVII before watching this movie.

Because I haven't played the game yet, there are probably still some things that are blurry for me.

The Graphics in this is crazily amazing! It looks almost real, especially the landscape and the hair of the characters.

The Plot is very complicated indeed, there are a lot of things happening at the same time and it is hard to keep up with the story at moments. I don't really know why a lot of FF fans say that the characters weren't explained too well, but I think they have been explained very well. One problem is that you need to pay close attention to a lot of the small details in scenes and hints/implications given throughout the full 90 minutes to get a full explanation on most of those characters.

The Music is very good too. If you watch Japanese anime, you will know that the music explains a lot in the scenes. All the music were perfect for there respective scenes.

Overall, if you are not a FFVII fan and think this movie will not be enjoyable by you, maybe you should reconsider. Because you will be missing something incredible.
