Geeks + Gamers (2016)
Fun & Informative
Our colleges, schools, governments, media, social media and entertainment are all getting infected with "woke" identity politics and Marxism.
Movies, our modern morality plays that permeate our values, are no exception and are not immune from being infected with modern meta-politics.
G&G takes off the rose-tinted glasses, pulls back the curtain, and sees that the Emperor has no new clothes, and calls it out.
RuPaul's Drag Race: Monster Ball (2019)
Elvira, Monsters, Drag Queens, Oh my!
Vanjie and Brooke Lynn Hytes continue to kiss in front of everyone.
Trixie Mattel makes a cameo appearance in this episode.
Rupaul shamelessly plugs his new doll. But hey, it's his show.
The mini-challenge is for the queens to transform themselves into living dolls, suitable for being a BFF with Rupauls new doll.
I've been watching Drag Race since season 1, and mini-challenges like this do seem like "repeats". I sort of miss the crazy mini-challenges like in Season 2, like the "Chicken or Wut?" challenge, where queens had to eat mystery meat, blindfolded.
The pit-crew make an appearance for all but 2 seconds. What a waste for Bryce!
The main challenge is a Monster-themed ball fashion challenge, where we are graced with 33 scary looks on the runway.
Some nice gowns, some very memorable.
Of course, the judges are fed pun lines for each queens look coming down the runway. I almost miss season 1 and 2, where they just commented quietly "Oooh, that's amazing".
Rupaul eggs on guest judge Elvira to respond with quote lines from her 1988 movie "Elvira Mistress of the Dark".
RuPaul's Drag Race: Trump: The Rusical (2019)
This season of Drag Race is hard to watch, this episode in particular.
One of the highlights of this episode, is watching Michelle Visage react to guest judge "Joel McHale"s hooting, hollering and cheering for the queens as they prance the runway. She sits in disgust, making grimaces at his antics.
It made me realize that the American version is much more "sedate" compared to Drag Race Thailand, where the judges are excited, scream for the queens and even get out of their chairs to stand up.
The rest of this episode is harder to watch.
I know Rupaul has expressed his politics before in little tiny bite-sized comments on Drag Race before, but never to this extent.
The episode opens with a mini-challenge featuring Rachael Maddow -- the TV news host who's ratings have taken a nose-dive because the conspiracy theory she was carrying for 2.5 years of political "Russian collusion" turned out to be a fake hoax? She's lost a ton of viewers.
To make the episode even more cringe-worthy, the entire maxi-challenge is a musical based on...you guessed it, Donald Trump.
Drag Race is shot the year before, in July or August (9 months ago). So "Omarosa" is already a complete non-factor in Donald Trumps circles, yet they had a role for one of the queens to play her. It's already dated and irrelevant. I believe I saw Omarosa's tell-all book in discount bins at Superstore.
I like my Drag Race without politics, thanks!
It's one of the reasons why I enjoy "Drag Race Thailand" so much -- they don't bring politics (or wild conspiracy theories) into it at all.
You can find Drag Race Thailand on the internet.
RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars: Jersey Justice (2019)
Not my favorite episode
The queens improv in a Judge Judy-type skit with Michelle Visage.
Unfortunately, this season of queens aren't the best actors. We don't have Ginger Minj or Bianca Del Rio here. This makes the skits really hard to watch. Generally un-funny. The only time I chuckled, was with a line Michelle Visage gave -- "Would you kiss your mother with that F ing mouth?!"
The rest was just a dud. Sorry.
RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars: Super Queen Grand Finale (2019)
It's entertainment!
I've watched RPDR since Season 1.
I have to keep reminding myself this isn't a "true" competition. Because at the end of the day, the show is entertainment, and selling advertisements, and getting the producers money.
So I could rattle on about the cop-out of 2 winners, rather than 1.
I could rattle on about Monet or Trinity not really being of the caliber of Chad Michaels, Alaska or Trixie Mattel. But then I'd be forgetting what the show is really about -- entertainment.
I don't hate that there were 2 winners. But I feel like with this season, they just watered-down All Stars. Almost to the extent Project Runway was reduced to. And consider Project Runway AllStars has been cancelled?
It just felt like they were recycling queens, for the sake of putting them on TV again. Season 1 and 2 really were raising the stakes of the queens. Only the best of the best were on. But then S3 started slipping. And now S4 has been a complete slide.
RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars: Sex and the Kitty Girl (2019)
Probably the worst episode of the season
I've been a Drag Race fan since season 1. And out of all 10 seasons, and 4 seasons of All Stars, I'd put this episode in the bottom of the pile.
In this episode, the girls act out a "Sex and the City" skit, with a poorly written script that's not even funny.
If all episodes were like this, I'm pretty sure RPDR would be cancelled.
RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars: Queens of Clubs (2019)
A fun episode
One of the better episodes of Season 4 All Stars.
It's funny, and is worth watching just to see Valentina paint walls in high-heels.
The pit crew are also a big part of this episode. I like anything with Bryce in it :)
