Finally a good episode from the useless hack that is Chris Chinnail. From what I've gathered from this episode, Chibs and the BBC have finally got themselves off the floor and are ready to focus more on good writing and storytelling over "the message". I believe that this is what everyone has been waiting for and me personally I really enjoyed this episode.
Firstly, Jodie Whitaker was somehow not annoying at all throughout the episode which is surprising because so far all her doctor has managed to do is scream at the audience to "do better" (let me remind everyone of the nightmare that is Orphan 55) and has been stale in comparison to everyone who came before her so seeing her doctor in this way is rather refreshing. Also, John bishop was great as Dan and I like how naturally he was brought into the story and characters.
I also really enjoyed the story of the episode and I'm all for this being a six part arc with interweaving plot lines and characters as it is Chris Chibnail's biggest strength when it comes to writing.
Finally, I believe that this series has a lot of potential if Chibs and the BBC can stick the landing. The reduced episodes can work in their favour as they can be much more flexible with the budget when compared to a 10 episode series. Overall the Halloween apocalypse (although it suffers from some pacing issues) is a good start to the series and i give it an (8/10)
