The Painted Woman
Carla (Sharon Garrison) and Leo (Grover Coulson) have been lovers for 40 years. An unconventional and often strained relationship, the couple have reached a turning point as their individual realities collide with their long-held hopes and fears. Carla is a prostitute. Leo is one of her many johns - but the only one for whom she feels a deep and abiding love. While Leo feels comfortable with their once-a-week trysts, Carla wants more. Leo must now make a decision about their future or risk losing Carla forever.
Carla has received an unexpected offer that will provide her stability and comfort in her waning years. Leo's fear of unconditional commitment has prevented him from offering his beloved Carla the life she has yearned for and now finds within her reach. Leo is faced with the possibility of losing Carla forever. The choices they made throughout their lives together now haunt their ability to face this impasse without sacrificing who and what they have become.
As Leo struggles with his choices and rushes to get Carla a ring, a philosophizing pawnshop owner (Burton Gilliam) challenges Leo's fragile decision. Is it too late to change? Can their love prevail and provide a foundation for a happy life together? Both are hopeful and struggle to achieve their destinies . . . together.
