Votes: 52,755

Since the start of the season Taran has killed almost every throw away line he has been given spinning gold out of nothing. Wisely the producers and the public have caught on and he is assuredly becoming the breakout new cast member. Just like former cast members Eddie Murphy and Will Ferrel, the show may not always be funny but he (Taran) always is.

2. Anderson's Cross (2010)

Votes: 163

For the first time Taran plays it real and gets it right. A small but nuanced performance delicately balancing the fine line between comedy and reality. To see him truly act and not play a caricature is a pleasant surprise in this sweet indie drama. Though he has been in bigger budgeted moves, this one shows that he has a future in feature films.

3. How I Met Your Mother (2005–2014)

TV-14 | 4,576 min | Comedy, Drama, Romance

A father recounts to his children - through a series of flashbacks - the journey he and his four best friends took leading up to him meeting their mother.

Stars: Josh Radnor, Jason Segel, Cobie Smulders, Neil Patrick Harris

Votes: 728,753

Taran shows his comedy skills deftly, though he is overshadowed by his costars (it is their show after all) Still it would be nice if the smaller characters were given the same level of care as they used to do on shows like say, Mary Tyler Moore. An important stepping stone in introducing Taran to a a wide mainstream audience in addition to introducing him to girlfriend (and mother to his child) nm1130627/, who clearly had an eye for talent.

4. Nobody's Watching (2006 TV Movie)

Not Rated | 166 min | Comedy

Two best friends challenge the WB to let them create a new sitcom - they're surprised when they're left to live on a sound stage and have their every move recorded while working on the project.

Director: Gail Mancuso | Stars: Taran Killam, Paul Campbell, Lauren Bittner, Mircea Monroe

Votes: 425

This show didn't catch on mainly because of it's "too behind the scenes nature". Still Killam is once again at the top of his comedic game.

5. The Amanda Show (1999–2002)

TV-Y7 | 30 min | Comedy, Family

A comedy sketch show centered around All That (1994) alum Amanda Bynes.

Stars: Amanda Bynes, Drake Bell, Nancy Sullivan, John Kassir

Votes: 8,297

Funny but not yet perfecting the talent we now see on SNL.

6. Community (2009–2015)

TV-14 | 22 min | Comedy

A suspended lawyer is forced to enroll in a community college with an eccentric staff and student body.

Stars: Joel McHale, Danny Pudi, Donald Glover, Chevy Chase

Votes: 293,617

One guest spot but memorable in a season of guest stars. Once again playing it over the top but in the same breath giving us a spot on impersonation. Episode: Regional Holiday Music. Season 3.

7. Mad TV (1995–2016)

TV-14 | 60 min | Comedy

A sketch comedy show based on the seminal Mad Magazine.

Stars: Michael McDonald, Debra Wilson, Aries Spears, Bobby Lee

Votes: 11,925

A precursor to SNL, Taran shows his ability to take on different characters but clearly the show didn't know what they had.
