At 41 years young, this might just be Baby J’s year. You can probably unpack that Pb&j, chips, and juice box: It sounds like “John Mulaney & The Sack Lunch Bunch” isn’t coming back to Netflix — or even to Comedy Central.
Mulaney has called the (excellent) Netflix variety series for children his “favorite thing I ever did,” a sentiment he echoed on “My Next Guest with David Letterman and John Mulaney” — the episode of Letterman’s long-form interview show premiered April 30, 2024 on Netflix.
Letterman asked Mulaney what that ranking suggests for the future.
“I loved doing it and, you know, Netflix was like, ‘Oh, cool, you gonna do standup again?’” Mulaney said.
Mulaney’s line got a laugh from the Chicago audience, but it didn’t sound like a joke. In the comic’s retelling, it is clear the streamer had pretty quickly moved on from “The Sack Lunch Bunch” and focused on the comedian’s bread and butter: stand-up.

John Mulaney opened up about his struggles with addiction, his time in rehab, and a memorable call he received from Lorne Michaels about John Belushi during his appearance on My Next Guest Needs No Introduction With David Letterman.
At the start of the episode, Mulaney spoke about his stint in rehab a few years ago, which became a big part of his 2023 stand-up special, Baby J. At one point, he recalled a particularly low point in his detox when he was grinding his teeth so much that one of his molars cracked.

Product placements have been a thing in movies for decades, as companies are often enticed to link themselves with popular IPs to boost brand recognition. However, this isn’t always the case, as there have been instances when brands have tried to distance themselves from certain projects, which delves into more controversial subjects.
Similar was the case for American Psycho, as Rolex was against Patrick Bateman wearing their watch due to the character’s actions, forcing the creators to change one quote from the book.

Among the new productions on Broadway this spring is a revival of the classic musical “Cabaret,” starring Eddie Redmayne. In 2014 he starred as Stephen Hawking in director James Marsh‘s biopic “The Theory of Everything.” His performance won him an Oscar for Best Actor (making him the eighth youngest winner in that category at age 33), overcoming stiff competition from Michael Keaton, the star of the Best Picture winner of that year, “Birdman.” How did Redmayne pull through? Here are five reasons.
1. The industry felt he came into his own
Prior to “The Theory of Everything,” Redmayne was a rising star. In 2010 he won a Tony for his Broadway debut starring opposite Alfred Molina in John Logan‘s play “Red.” He went on to get more prominent film roles where critics, audiences and the industry started to take notice of him. Among them were Simon Curtis‘s 2011 Oscar-nominated biopic “My Week with Marilyn...

Throughout her illustrious run in the realm of music, Taylor Swift has cemented herself as one of, if not the biggest pop icon of the 21st century and has amassed an enormous following. But like every massive fandom, a part of the Swifties community is toxic as well, who often go out of their way to retaliate against anyone who dares to speak ill of the Cats star.
Michael J. Fox, whose opinion of Swift has changed drastically over the years, once found himself amidst heavy fire from the Swifties in 2013 following his initial remarks on the pop icon.

It’s season finale time for networks, but Netflix, naturally, still has plenty of brand new TV and shows coming in May.
Jeff Daniels makes his TV return in the David E. Kelley series “A Man in Full.” That six-episode series is based on the bestselling book of the same name by Tom Wolfe. Per a press release: “When Atlanta real estate mogul Charlie Croker faces sudden bankruptcy, political and business interests collide as Charlie defends his empire from those attempting to capitalize on his fall from grace.” The series will also star Tom Pelphrey, Diane Lane, Lucy Liu, William Jackson Harper, Aml Ameen, Sarah Jones, Jon Michael Hill and Chanté Adams.
Additionally, comedy fans can get excited for a new special series from John Mulaney. The comedian is hosting a multi-night event, “John Mulaney Presents: Everybody’s in LA,” that looks to be part interview show and part man-on-the-street hijinks.

Late-night talk shows were like home when I was a teenager. Social anxieties could disappear, bullies were non-existent, and the humorous, non-consequential words of the hosts would calm me down after a stressful day at school. The comedians who took over TV after 11:35 Pm welcomed me into a universe I belonged to, a complete contrast from the social outcasting I felt in the classroom walls. I could live vicariously through their jokes and joyful scenarios in which the audience cheered and clapped, and nobody’s confidence was shattered by a lousy joke.
Along with Craig Ferguson, Conan O’Brien was a nightly weekday highlight. Conan’s spastic impressions and self-deprecating pokes were a warm fire in front of the TV, a silly distraction for me and so many of his viewers who loved to gather around his aura every night on NBC and then TBS at the dawn of the decade.

Celebrities are often put on a pedestal by fans for a number of reasons, that vary from talent to their influence. However, many possess their little quirks, and while most of the time they are endearing, sometimes they are straight-up weird.

Unsurprisingly, a lot of stars are very conscious of the food they consume, but that is just the tip of the iceberg. Letterman fans who missed their chance at owning a piece of his old Late Show marquee are getting another chance.
David Letterman announced on his YouTube channel yesterday that another portion of the marquee from his time at the Ed Sullivan Theater—the part that says “featuring Paul Shaffer and the CBS Orchestra”—will be raffled off for charity. Shaffer joined Letterman for the announcement and offered some background on the sign and his decision to part with it.
“At a certain point, Dave was nice enough to put my name on the marquee, too,” Shaffer remembered. “I had my name in lights on Broadway, just like the song. It was thrilling.”
According to Shaffer, the sign has been in his basement since Letterman’s Late Show ended. When Letterman suggested he auction it off for charity last year, Shaffer initially said he was “never going to part with it.

Tom Cruise is a global superstar with a wealth of films under his belt. The actor’s impact on Hollywood cannot be overstated, and neither can his contribution to the film industry be quantified. Unsurprisingly, Cruise has also been an inspiration to innumerable artists, and one of them happens to be Christian Bale.
Like Cruise, Bale too is an incredible actor, with an Oscar to his name. The English actor made a name for himself by undergoing extreme transformations in his roles. He has starred in several critically acclaimed films in his career, pushing the limits of his skills each time.
However, one role that stands out in Bale’s immaculate filmography is that of Patrick Bateman in American Psycho. And who was the inspiration behind it? The Mission: Impossible actor, of course.

David Letterman’s albatross has been lifted—and it’s now living its best life in Connecticut.
The albatross, in this case, is the iconic blue-and-yellow Late Show marquee that hung outside New York City’s Ed Sullivan Theater for two decades. “A year or two ago, we realized we had this big hunk of plastic with the Late Show sign on it,” Letterman explained in a new video he posted to his YouTube channel Wednesday.
Not knowing what to do with the sign, the late-night legend decided that rehoming it was the best possible option—and to do it in the name of charity. In November 2023, Letterman and his longtime bandleader Paul Shaffer (whose name is also on the sign) announced a sweepstakes where anyone who donated $10 or more to Habitat for Humanity would be entered to win the 20-foot-wide sign. The promotion ended up raising a whopping $116,000 for the organization.

Tuesday night saw something that, fourteen years ago, might have seemed impossible: Conan O’Brien returned to “The Tonight Show.” And he was greeted with a standing ovation.
He was there, ostensibly, to promote a forthcoming Max series in which he travels the world meeting fans. But he’d come a long way just to get to 30 Rockefeller Center in 2024, and the interview with current “Tonight Show” host Jimmy Fallon functioned as a peace offering, or a marker of how much time has passed.

For 30 years it stood outside The Ed Sullivan Theatre, now it’s at a fan’s home.
Earlier this week David Letterman personally delivered a section from his old show’s marquee to a fan in New Jersey. Letterman is seen posing in front of it in an image posted his social media channels Friday morning.
We’re told a crew from Letterman’s YouTube channel tagged along, and that a video will be posted sometime next week.
It was last fall that Letterman and his former bandleader Paul Shaffer jointly announced a sweepstakes benefitting Habitat For Humanity, with the marquee as the grand prize. Letterman has been a longtime supporter of the nonprofit that helps build and improve homes for low income families.
All told, the sweepstakes raised over $100,000. It also apparently had the side benefit of helping Letterman unload the huge 8ft x 20ft sign that had been...

Famed zookeeper Jack Hanna, who is known for shows such as Animal Adventures and his regular appearances on the likes of The Late Show with David Letterman and Good Morning America, is continuing to battle with the effects of Alzheimer’s disease. The former director of the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium was diagnosed with the disease in October 2019, and now his family has opened up about his health. “We wish we had good news to share, but Jack continues to decline and has all the symptoms one would anticipate with advanced Alzheimer’s,” his family told People. “Each day, we do our best to find joy – even when things are challenging.” The statement continued, “We hope that sharing Jack’s diagnosis of Alzheimer’s brings awareness to the disease that affects almost 7 million Americans and their families.” The Everett Collection Hanna retired from public life in 2021, and he and his wife,...

Donald Trump is not only the 45th President of America, but he’s also throwing his hat into the ring once again to try and become the 47th President of the U.S.
A very polarizing political figure, in addition to being the leader of the free world, he also has real-estate mogul to his resume, as well as actor, appearing in many movies over the years.
But, why has he had so many cameos in the past? During a Hollywood Reporter interview, actor Matt Damon stated that Trump had a special requirement for filmmakers who wanted to use any of his properties in their films, and that was apparently to give him a small movie role in the flick.
Most of these movie appearances have caught fans completely off guard. Below is the top “unexpected” movie cameos Donald Trump has made.

On what would be his 100th birthday, Marlon Brando remains synonymous not with acting, but great acting — even if this ranked list of all his performances represents what may be the most wildly uneven filmography for any talent of his caliber. But that’s the power of Brando: A handful of his performances are so great and influential they shook up the art of acting forever. Even among his lesser performances, there’s compelling work deserving of rediscovery.
In order to best exemplify what made him such a singular onscreen presence, we ranked all 39 of his films (and one TV appearance), reflecting a spectrum as wide as the man’s broad shoulders. Based on the quality of Brando’s performances rather than the overall films themselves, there are some placements that may surprise you; for example, as great as Brando is in “The Godfather,” it’s still just the fourth-best...

So what can be said about Andy Dick that the paparazzi and nearly every Judge from West Virginia to Los Angeles hasn’t already said? He was once a rising star in the comedy world with lovably nerdy characters on hit TV series before his demons grabbed a hold of him and took him down an over 25 year path of endless headlines with his name often times preceding the word “arrested.” In those years, he has compiled more Mug Shots than Head Shots and went from Star on the Rise to Registered Sex Offender. Yeah, I don’t know how else to say this other than: Wtf Happened to Andy Dick?!
But as always we must begin at the beginning and the beginning began on his birthday, December 21, 1965 in Charleston, South Carolina. After graduating high school in the suburbs of Illinois, Andy would study at the famed Second City and...

Madonna made headlines 30 years ago when she dropped the F-bomb 14 times (including her description of host David Letterman as a “sick f—k”), made sexual innuendos, and refused to get off the stage during her Late Show appearance on March 31, 1994. Arguably, however, Letterman fired the first shot while introducing Madonna, saying that the pop star had “slept with some of the biggest names in the entertainment industry.” In 2015, Madonna told Howard Stern she was in “a weird mood” that day in 1994. “I was dating Tupac Shakur at the time, and the thing is, he got me all riled up about life in general,” she said. As you’ll see below, though, Madonna’s Late Show appearance is one of many late-night interviews that took a controversial, scandalous, or chaotic turn — and two even went down on the same night. Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker was one of the most divisive films of all time. While everyone was unanimous in their praise of the actor, the reception to the story was less than enthusiastic. Accolades poured in from all quarters for Phoenix, but so did the criticism for Todd Phillips, the director.
Even though five years have passed since the film came out, it is still talked about to this day. The film made an effort to take a different, sort of raw approach to dealing with the issues that were highlighted. Unfortunately, it was not for everyone, including renowned filmmaker Ridley Scott.

It’s been 13 years since Maroon 5 and Christina Aguilera topped charts with “Moves Like Jagger,” and still nobody loves it more than Mick Jagger himself. She’s late-night royalty thanks to her record 21 performances of “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)” on David Letterman’s NBC and CBS shows, but Darlene Love says she isn’t feeling the love from Jimmy Fallon’s Tonight Show.
Since Letterman’s retirement in 2015, Love has performed her signature Christmas song on The View, NBC’s Christmas in Rockefeller Center, and even on Letterman’s YouTube Channel. You might think she’d be welcomed at The Tonight Show too, but the 82-year-old Love took to Facebook this week to express her frustration at the show’s apparent lack of interest.

Netflix’s true crime series Homicide: New York’s first installment, “Carnegie Deli Massacre,” opens with the brutal murders of Jennifer Stahl, Charles “Trey” Helliwell, and Stephen King. The episode features NYPD Lieutenant Roger Parrino; Barbara Butcher, the second woman ever hired for the role of Death Investigator in Manhattan; and retired NYPD Det. Irma Rivera. The case plagues these veteran law enforcement professionals enough to revisit the evidence. The deaths seem to have weighed heavily on producer Dick Wolf too. “Tragedy on Rye,” a season 14 episode of his signature show Law & Order, is based on the tragic incident.
The crime also haunted New York. The murders happened on May 10, 2001, during a period when city crime had been on a downswing, and media at the time dredged up fears Times Square would go back to its not-so-distant wild and dangerous earlier character. Like the detectives in the show, it...

It’s difficult to put into context for those who weren’t there just how big of a star David Letterman was in March of 1994. He had just left NBC nine months earlier—where he’d reigned tall at 12:30 Am for 11 years—to move up to 11:30 Pm at CBS as host of The Late Show. This was a franchise created especially for him, and it made him the highest paid host in late-night history. He was at the height of his powers as a broadcaster, and at this point was number one in the ratings against Jay Leno’s Tonight Show. Being a guest on his show was a rite of passage, much as it had been when Johnny Carson hosted The Tonight Show. If you were sitting opposite David Letterman, you knew you had made it to the big time.

The Joker, the most complicated supervillain in DC Comics, has already frightened and impressed fans with Joaquin Phoenix’s portrayal. His dramatic transformation into the failed comedian-turned-sadistic clown is terrifying, even from the trailer, with his bony frame and that terrifying cackle. Beyond his extraordinary acting prowess that earned him an Oscar, Phoenix’s life is full of fascinating details that have captured the public’s interest.
In fact, he has overcome many personal obstacles, experienced many unusual things, and lived a life firmly committed to his moral convictions. Did you know Phoenix had played the Joker before he was cast as the twisted clown?

“Dancing With the Stars” and “America’s Funniest Home Videos” staple Alfonso Ribeiro will host new wildlife series “Jack Hanna’s Passport” from Hearst Media Production Group (Hmpg).
The show will not star wildlife expert “Jungle Jack” Hanna himself, but rather “take a fresh look at the most compelling stories from Hanna’s legendary career and his greatest past adventures across the globe.”
“Jack Hanna’s Passport” will air weekend mornings starting April 6 on ABC owned and affiliated stations across the U.S. during the “Weekend Adventure” educational/informational program block. Times vary by market, so viewers should check local listings.
Nominated for 15 Emmys and winning five, Hanna’s decades-long career in wildlife programming spurred from his background as a conservationist and his position at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium in Ohio. A frequent TV guest of David Letterman, Hanna’s also authored several books, won many awards, and received multiple honorary doctorates.

It’s a year of milestones for Late Night With Seth Meyers. Just a month after celebrating his tenth anniversary hosting NBC’s 12:35 a.m. show, Meyers is set to tape his 1500th episode tonight.
While we don’t expect the host to mark the occasion in any significant way (he’s said to find milestone celebrations awkward), it’s yet another rite of passage for his show. He’s already taped more episodes of Late Night than his predecessor, Jimmy Fallon, and is poised to surpass the show’s creator, David Letterman, who taped more than 1800 episodes of the show before jumping to CBS.
Like each of his predecessors, he’s made the show his own in his ten years behind the Late Night desk, eschewing the traditional monologue, dropping the suit (but for special occasions), and focusing more on political humor than the other late night shows on broadcast.
