CBS’ head of casting Peter Golden is leaving the network, TheWrap has confirmed.
Golden’s departure is effective immediately, an individual with knowledge tells TheWrap.
In recent months, Golden’s name has come up in unflattering reports regarding the culture at CBS. Last week, Whitney Davis, a former CBS diversity executive, accused Golden of passing over minority actors in favor of white ones. “It is my opinion that Peter Golden doesn’t find minority performers to be as talented as white actors,” she said.
Golden denied that comment in a statement to TheWrap last week, saying: “The claims and innuendos made about me by Ms. Davis are categorically untrue.”

Variety first reported on Golden’s departure, adding that Golden’s ouster comes after “numerous” complaints were made against him by the casting department, including instances of verbal abuse.

CBS’ longtime Head of Casting Peter Golden has stepped down effective immediately, a network spokesman confirmed to Deadline. A respected veteran casting executive, he is leaving after 23 years at the network.
The move comes after Golden’s name became involved in several controversies surrounding CBS over the past few years related its diversity record and corporate culture.
For a couple of seasons, especially from 2016-2017, CBS was criticized over the lack of diversity in the lead casts of its new series. The issue came to a head after the network picked up new shows with all-male leads, the majority of them Caucasian, for two consecutive years. As part of the criticism, it was revealed that CBS’ casting department, led by Golden, consisted entirely of white executives.
CBS eventually hired a non-white casting executive, though he left for Netflix after a brief stint at the network. CBS has made a concerted...

Veteran exec Peter Golden is departing his longtime post as head of casting at CBS, Variety has learned. The move follows complaints to human resources about Golden’s behavior made by members of the CBS casting department. It also comes just months after Golden’s name surfaced in reporting on sexual-misconduct allegations against ousted CBS CEO Leslie Moonves, and fewer than two weeks after a former CBS executive wrote in Variety that Golden discouraged the casting of minority actors in CBS television shows.
To Variety‘s knowledge, none of the complaints made against Golden are related to sexual misconduct.
Sources tell Variety that in one Hr complaint, Golden was alleged to have complained to another member of the casting department that casting had become too thorny a process, and that he wished it could be as simple as it was when CBS cast “How I Met Your Mother” and the...

Lawyers hired by CBS have found cause for the company’s board of directors to deny former chairman and chief executive, Leslie Moonves, a $120 million severance package. This is according to a draft of a 56-page report obtained by the New York Times which details the findings of an independent investigation into sexual misconduct allegations against Moonves. Over the summer, The New Yorker dropped two bombshell reports detailing claims made by 12 women that Moonves sexually harassed or assaulted them, ultimately forcing Moonves to step down from his position at CBS in September.

Updated with a statement from the investigators looking into allegations at CBS.
Former CBS CEO Les Moonves destroyed evidence and misled investigators in an attempt to protect his reputation and preserve a lucrative severance deal, according to a report obtained by the New York Times.
This report, which is to be delivered to the CBS directors ahead of next week’s annual shareholders meeting, concludes that the media company has justification to deny Moonves his $120 million severance, the Times reports.
Moonves engaged in “multiple acts of serious, nonconsensual sexual misconduct,” both in the workplace and outside, according to the Times. Over the course of four interviews, lawyers conducting the inquiry found him to be “evasive and untruthful,” the Times reported, citing the 59-page document.
CBS declined comment. However, the investigators looking into the allegations at CBS issued a statement tonight, saying it has not yet reported any findings to the board,...

Leslie Moonves is alleged to have misled investigators working on behalf of CBS Corp. and attempted to obstruct a probe into claims of sexual harassment during his time at and before he was employed by the company, according to a report in The New York Times.
The Times says it has reviewed a draft of a report prepared by lawyers who have been hired by the board of directors of the New York media company. CBS in August hired Covington & Burling and Debevoise & Plimpton, two top-flight legal entities, to investigate not only allegations made against Moonves, the company’s longtime leader, and also “cultural issues at all levels of CBS.” According to the Times, the report alleges Moonves “engaged in multiple acts of serious nonconsensual sexual misconduct in and outside of the workplace, both before and after he came to CBS in 1995.” The report also contains other allegations of...

A report by lawyers for CBS found that the network would be justified in denying former CEO Les Moonves a $120 million severance payout because he destroyed evidence and misled investigators looking into accusations of sexual misconduct, the New York Times reported Tuesday, citing a draft of a report prepared for the company’s board.
According to the Times, the report said Moonves “engaged in multiple acts of serious nonconsensual sexual misconduct in and outside of the workplace, both before and after he came to CBS in 1995.”
Andrew J. Levander, Moonves’s lawyer, said Moonves “denies having any nonconsensual sexual relation” and “cooperated extensively and fully with investigators.”
Levander did not immediately respond to a request for comment from TheWrap on Tuesday. CBS declined to comment.

A new woman is accusing Les Moonves of forcing her to perform oral sex, and she claims he tried to buy her silence by lining up acting roles for her. Actress Bobbie Phillips tells the New York Times she met the ex-CBS honcho in 1995 during a meeting at Warner Bros. studio in Burbank. She alleges Moonves told her, "Look how hard you make me" before he unzipped his pants and exposed his erect penis.

The potential $120 million exit package for ousted CBS boss Les Moonves is looking more shaky after a bombshell New York Times story detailing the former CEO’s efforts to outrun and evade investigations into his sexual misconduct.
A lengthy article posted this afternoon and bylined by three Times writers captures the increasing anxiety by Moonves as allegations from his past came to light.
CBS declined to comment on the story’s revelations. Because the September exit of Moonves is still fresh, and investigations into his conduct are still ongoing, there are apt to be repercussions from the piece.
The article centers on the link between Moonves and talent manager Marv Dauer, who has spent three decades representing up-and-coming clients including Bobbie Phillips, an actress who was 25 when she signed with Dauer. He arranged a meeting in 1995 with Moonves, who was then president of Warner Bros. Television and already the corporate...

Former CBS Corp. chairman-ceo Leslie Moonves tried to buy the silence of an actor and her manager about a decades-old sexual assault claim by arranging for the woman to be cast in a CBS series, according to a report published Wednesday by the New York Times.
The revelation that Moonves pushed CBS executives to find work for actress Bobbie Phillips and other clients of manager Marv Dauer was key in convincing the CBS board of directors that Moonves had to forced out of his job, according to the report.
The publication of the damning allegations will only add to the pressure on CBS to deny Moonves any of the $120 million severance that is on the line following his ouster on Sept. 9.
CBS is investigating claims about Moonves’ conduct during his 23-year tenure at the company. That probe is expected to be concluded by Jan. 31, if not sooner.

A New York Times story Wednesday detailed actress Bobbie Phillips accusation that former CBS CEO Les Moonves forced her to perform oral sex on him during a 1995 business meeting, then conspired with her former manager to keep her silent with a job offer when he knew he was being investigated for sexual misconduct.
Moonves, who was ousted in September, said in a statement to the Times: “I strongly believe that the sexual encounter with Ms. Phillips more than 20 years ago was consensual.”
The story notes that Moonves claimed to CBS’ outside lawyers the incident with Phillips was “consensual” and he was slow to disclose his attempts to get Phillips a job with the help of CBS casting director Peter Golden during the investigation this summer.

When you stop to ponder how many times Billy Blanks gets his ass kicked over the course of T.J. Scott’s dorky science fiction actioner “Tc 2000″, you seriously start to question his status as an action hero. I’m not saying that he has to coast through the entire picture without getting a few scratches on his angular puss, but it would be nice to see him completely overwhelm his decidedly outclassed opponents without getting his posterior handed to him in the process. Of course, if you shortened the action sequences, you’d realize that there’s not much of a story to speak of, no intricate plotting supporting the picture’s countless corridor-centric set pieces. The film’s only saving grace — besides watching Bobbie Phillips obliterate her enemies while wearing a ridiculously cheesy albeit realistically futuristic S&M costume — is the presence of martial arts veteran Bolo Yeung,...
