The Narcissus myth, where a man falls in love with his own reflection and ultimately destroys himself over it, has only grown more relevant with time. The dominance of social media, the performative aspects that come with it, self-help culture, various forms of media pushing self-affirmation, and a culture driven towards individualism are just some of the ways we’ve led ourselves to a place where terms like “toxic positivity” begin taking prominence. It’s a topic well worth exploring, and thank God Canadian provocateur Bruce Labruce chose to. Rather than getting too intellectual about it, Saint-Narcisse gives audiences the reflection of their obsessed selves they deserve: a sleazy, incestuous, soapy good time evoking ‘70s B-movies as it drags traditional values around religion and family to the extreme endpoint of loving oneself.

"I can't risk you getting hurt - these people are far too powerful." Lionsgate is releasing this "intense, high-speed cyber-thriller" direct-to-vod in March. And while I am a big fan of hacker films & tech thrillers, this one leans a bit too much into the cheesy, unrealistic realm. And it sounds like a bad Ready Player One rip-off. Dark Web: Cicada 3301 is based on a series of mysterious, unsolved real-life events. It starts as the hacker Connor discovers "Cicada 3301", an online treasure hunt that could be a recruiting tool for a secret society. Soon Connor, art-expert friend Avi, and secretive librarian Gwen are dashing from graffiti sites to ancient libraries to uncover real-life clues. But they must outrun aggressive Nsa agents, also hot on the trail of Cicada, who want the glory for themselves. Starring Jack Kesy, Conor Leslie, Alan Ritchson, Ron Funches, and Andreas Apergis. This does not look good,...

The comedy-thriller marks the feature directorial debut of Alan Ritchson, who co-wrote the script with Joshua Montcalm. Lionsgate Home Entertainment is set to distribute the film digitally across multiple platforms on a to-be-determined date.
According to the official synopsis, Cicada 3301 follows disenfranchised hacker savant, Connor Black (Jack Kesy), his affable best friend, Avi Berkowitz (Ron Funches) and a cunning librarian (Conor Leslie), who find themselves over their heads when forced to compete in a sophisticated dark web secret society’s global recruitment game. Ritchson also stars in the film as the inept antagonist Nsa Agent Carver along with industry veteran Andreas Apergis (Riddick).
“I’ve been a fan of Alan’s acting for a long time, and now, after seeing Cicada 3301, I’m equally impressed by his chops as a director,” said Grindstone Entertainment Group’s Ryan Black.

Hollywood remaking a foreign film is far from a new phenomenon, and adaption in this manner has yielded some truly great films. We have seen such successes like Seven Samurai transformed into The Magnificent Seven, and Infernal Affairs altered into The Departed.
On the other hand, there are movies like Brick Mansions. This remake of the Luc Besson / Pierre Morel French parkour action fest District B13 has much in common with the original including plot structure, action sequences, and even shares one of the co-leads. What it lacks is energy, craftsmanship, and originality. Fans of the original have little reason to examine this new take, and those coming in fresh will also find it difficult enjoy this tired dud of an action movie.

1.) We'll begin today's top five with a first look at Karl Urban in Riddick. The pic was released by the film's writer/director David Twohy who wrote on his blog, "I see that my friend Karl Urban is going to host a screening of Dredd this week at Comic-Con. Just wanted to wish him well with that -- and remind everyone what his eyes really look like. Here he is reprising Vaako for us, no helmet in sight. The actor over his shoulder, menacingly out of focus, is the great Andreas Apergis who plays 'Krone' in the upcoming Riddick." [David Twohy] 2.) Casting on The Wolverine is taking shape as Will Yun Lee (Elektra) has signed on to play the film's villain Harada, also known as the Silver Samurai, and Brian Tee ("Grimm") will play Noburo Mori, a corrupt minister of justice who is about to marry the daughter of a yakuza crime...

The Season 2 finale of Being Human, “It’s My Party and I’ll Die if I Want To” completed a circle for Josh (Sammy Huntington) and Aidan (Sam Witwer) that began at the season premiere, “Turn This Mother Out.” Sally’s (Meaghan Rath) funny but poignant line–their last scene in the house together by the way–summed up the entire episode.
Sally: You two are about to go on two killing sprees for women… That is so hot.
Josh and Nora (Kristen Hager) found themselves in another standoff– this time against Josh’s maker, Ray (Andreas Apergis) and as humans, not wolves. In “Turn This Mother Out,” Aidan dug up his former love, Suren (Dichen Lachman) after an 80-year punishment and his fate is unknown after he’s thrown into the same casket that she laid in for decades but with her ashes covering his body.

The action picks up directly where we were left off from last week, with Aidan cornered by Henry and a couple of Mother’s henchman vamps. Instead of staking Aidan, Henry turns on the other vampires and helps Aidan elude capture. Henry wants to help Aidan on the lam, and run away with him (and leave Suren), but Aidan refuses, wanting Henry to move up Mother’s ranks instead and is unable to leave his love behind. He gives Henry a little stake in the side to make his point, and to save Henry from suspicion on returning empty handed. Suren, meanwhile, is starving and restless, wanting to feed and wondering if she made the right decision to leave with Aidan after all. To sate Suren’s hunger, Aidan goes off to find a new...

[1] It took years for Vin Diesel and David Twohy to finally get their third Riddick movie off the ground, and even once production began, the project ran into further troubles [2] and was forced to go on a two-month hiatus while it paid off its debts. But production is back in full swing [3] at the Montreal set now, and things are looking up, at least on the casting front. According to new reports, Colombiana actor Jordi Mollà has entered negotiations to play the head villain, while Battlestar Galactica star Katee Sackhoff, who was offered a part back in the fall, is now in final talks to board the untitled picture. More details after the jump. Variety [4] reports that Mollà is negotiating for the character of Santana, a mercenary who leads a team of eight in hunting down and killing Riddick (Diesel). Mollà should be pretty used to playing villains by this...

While production picks back up in Montreal, Bloody Disgusting has been digging for the full cast of David Twohy's Riddick, the third film in the trilogy that will star Vin Diesel and Karl Urban. We have exclusively reported that Andreas Apergis, Katee Sackhoff (White Noise 2: The Light, Growl, The Haunting in Georgia), Bokeem Woodbine (Total Recall, Devil) and WWE wrestler Dave Bautista (The Scorpion King 3: Battle for Redemption) have all been given offers. Add Matthew Nable to the list as "Boss Johns". Apergis would play "Krone", commander of the dark theocracy. Sackhoff would pay "Dahl", a Nordic merc tracking Riddick. We've also learned that there's strong interest in both Cliff Curtis and Holt McCallany as "Santana" and "Vargas", respectively.

Riddick 3 – Katee Sackhoff Hunts Vin Diesel?
It looks like there might be some new cannon fodder joining the cast of Riddick as Battlestar Galactica alumni Katee Sackhoff, along with a few others, are offered the opportunity to have their butts kicked by Vin Diesel.
It’s been seven years since bad boy Riddick graced the big screen with his presence in The Chronicles of Riddick (God, I feel old) but the chrome-dome with the freaky eyes is finally making his triumphant return to the theater, and the casting machine is hard at work with bringing in fresh meat to square off against everyone’s favorite anti-hero in Universal Pictures’ Riddick.
According to the peeps at Bloody Disgusting, Katee Sackhoff, who seems unable to catch a break since playing Starbuck on BSG, has been approached to play Dahl, a Nordic mercenary tracking Riddick. Considering the average lifespan of people that track Riddick,...

Louis Leterrier's magician heist movie Now You See Me keeps getting better. The movie features a story about a group of illusionists who rob banks during their performances, and then give at least some of the proceeds out to the audience, even as the FBI is hot on their tail. The cast already includes Mark Ruffalo, Jesse Eisenberg, Morgan Freeman, Isla Fisher, Melanie Laurent, Woody Harrelson and Dave Franco, and now Michael Caine has signed on to play Arthur Tressler, the sponsor of the illusionists. The film will be released on January 18, 2013, and unless we see a trailer that looks simply horrible, Now You See Me will be high on our list of anticipated popcorn movies until that date arrives. [Moviehole [1]] After the break, Olivia Wilde and Steve Buscemi join the cast of another magician film, Burt Wonderstone, while Vin Diesel and David Twohy continue to try and perfect the...

In the seven years since "The Chronicles of Riddick" hit theaters, franchise creator David Twohy has had plenty of time to figure out what he wants to do with his upcoming sequel, "Riddick." With pre-production underway in Montreal and stars Vin Diesel and Karl Urban returning to the project, Twohy is busy bringing together a group of supporting actors to flesh out the rest of his cast.
Bloody Disgusting did some digging and found out that Twohy has made offers to four new actors to join the "Riddick" series. "Battlestar Galactica" star Katee Sackhoff, "Total Recall" action hero Bokeem Woodbine, WWE wrestler Dave Bautista and video game voice actor Andreas Apergis have all been given potential roles in the upcoming sci-fi adventure film.
According to the site, Sackhoff has been offered the role if Dahl, a Nordic mercenary tracking Riddick. Apergis could play Krone, a commander of the story's dark theocracy.

Back in September, we brought you the news about Karl Urban (Dredd, Star Trek), who portrayed Vaako, the villainous Necromonger Commander in 2004′s The Chronicles of Riddick returning with Vin Diesel for the third installment of David Twohy‘s franchise.
Now, B-d reports that Bokeem Woodbine (Total Recall) and the always lovely and super-cool Katee Sackhoff (Longmire, Growl) have been offered roles in the forthcoming Riddick sequel. While no information was available on Woodbine’s role, its said that Sackhoff would portray “Dahl”, a Nordic merc tracking Riddick.
In addition to Woodbine and Sackhoff, the site reports that Andreas Apergis (Durham County) and WWE wrestler Dave Bautista (The Scorpion King 3: Battle for Redemption) have also been offered roles in the film.
Synopsis:
Betrayed by his own kind and left for dead on a desolate planet, Riddick (Diesel) fights for survival against alien predators and becomes more powerful and dangerous than ever before.

“Riddick”. Vin Diesel wants to do it. David Twohy’s been in pre-production on it for what seems like years now. So what’s the hold up? A little money issue, it seems. According to TMZ (which is apparently covering movie news now, besides all their usual stories of celebrities, you know, walking and going in and out of restaurants and all those other banal nonsense that apparently people really, really love knowing about for God knows whatever reason) the movie’s Montreal set has been shut down due to non-payment. TMZ spoke with Michel Trudel — the owner of the Montreal studio where the new movie is being shot — who tells us he changed the locks and kicked everyone off the set Wednesday because the production company, One Race Films, has failed to pay up on time. Oops. Meanwhile, Bloody-Disgusting says that the movie, not to be deterred, is still casting,...

What truly occurred as compared to what one thinks happened doesn’t always match up. In last night’s episode of Being Human viewers learned plenty about Sally (Meaghan Rath and Josh (Sam Huntington), who both find out the truth about what or who made them a ghost and a werewolf. Meanwhile Aidan (Sam Witwer) staves off another plan by Bishop (Mark Pellegrino) to meddle in his attempt at normalcy. It was easily the best all-around episode of the season so far.
Sally
Danny (Gianpaolo Venuta) quickly went from the grieving widower to the biggest scumbag on the planet. The fact he hasn’t visited her grave but has pictures of Bridget (Angela Galuppo) all over his apartment were clues that he never truly loved Sally. Which is why it’s become quickly apparent what Sally must do and that’s to reach out to Bridget and warn her of the monster she’s dating.

I thought I had seen the last of them in 1992, but there they were, on my television. They were far scarier than any legion of vampires, pack of werewolves or lingering poltergeist could ever be. I’m talking about the reprehensible, regrettable fashion faux pas that are Zubaz pants. You remember them, the zebra print workout pants worn by bodybuilders and athletic types in the early 90’s. The NFL was so bold to outfit a variety of Zubaz for each team to flood every metropolitan city with an eyesore that could be seen miles away. Josh (Sam Huntington) put on a classic black and white pair on after a night of wolfing around, some hunter would have been justified to shoot him on the spot.
Josh
Upon gazing at the ghastly animal print, both Aidan (Sam Witwer) and Sally (Meaghan Rath) asked him separately, “Why are you dressed like a douche?...
