It's been close to a decade since Mad Max: Fury Road revved into theaters, and with Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga fast approaching, excitement for the movie is understandably through the roof.
George Miller isn't known for rushing his movies, of course, but after coming up with the idea for Furiosa on the set of its 2015 predecessor, we've now learned that he has yet another idea to expand the post-apocalyptic franchise.
"In doing what we did in the preparation of Mad Max: Fury Road, we also wrote what happened to Max in the year before we encounter him in [that film]," Miller told Entertainment Weekly (via SFFGazette.com), seemingly confirming that Max Rockatansky makes a cameo appearance in Furiosa.
"And as we get towards the end of [Furiosa], the chronology, basically, we had to see that Mad Max was lurking around somewhere because we do know what happened," the filmmaker teased. "The...

On Monday April 22, 20th Century Studios’ all-new action-adventure spectacle, Kingdom Of The Planet Of The Apes, made a trip to Venice Beach to get some sun, catch some waves and promote the film to onlookers lucky enough to be there. The apes on horseback was a clever idea and looked very reminiscent of the original 1968 film Planet Of The Apes.
The film opens in movie theaters globally on May 10, 2024, and will be available in IMAX®, Dolby Cinema®, 4Dx, and premium screens everywhere. Be among the first to see Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes on the big screen at the early access screening on May 8th.

By all appearances, Joy (Annette Bening) and Stan Delaney (Sam Neill) have lived an idyllic life. Both were tennis champions in their youth and tennis coaches for decades later. Together, they founded the Delaney Tennis Academy in South Florida, where he helped at least one star pupil go on to win a Grand Slam. Now, they’ve sold the school and are entering retirement, hoping to spend as much time as possible with their four grown kids, Troy (Jake Lacy), Amy (Alison Brie), Logan (Conor Merrigan-Turner), and Brooke (Essie Randles). These are two people who spent their professional lives playing the sport they’ve always loved, and who still found romance, community, and connection at home. They have it all, and every bit of it is pretty darn good.

It appears that we’re right. The camera responsible for the crazy impressive 22-minute oner in Extraction 2, is the Red Digital Cinema Komodo. The implementation of the oner was possible due to dedicated camera rigs, for two hands, and one hand, as the Director of Photography, Greg Baldi, elaborated.

Extraction 2 was shot on various cameras: Arri Alexa Mini Lf, and Red Digital Cinema Komodo. However, when the teaser was released, we made an assumption that the oners which were packed with tons of action, were shot on the Komodo. Read the reasons why we thought that. Anyway, according to the Dp Greg Baldi, it appears we’re right. As stated by Baldi: “Our entire 22-minute action oner on Extraction 2 was all shot on Komodo. Extraction 2. Chris Hemsworth as Tyler Rake in Extraction 2. Cr. Jasin Boland/Netflix © 2023 Chris Hemsworth returns to the role of Tyler Rake in the new film Extraction 2, a sequel to 2020’s Extraction. The original movie became the most-watched original movie in Netflix history at the time, so it’s no surprise that another chapter got the green light. And, as far as Hemsworth was concerned, signing on for a sequel was a no-brainer, because he had a great time working on the first one, especially the way director Sam Hargrave handled the stunts and action sequences. (Click on the media bar below to hear Chris Hemsworth) https://www.hollywoodoutbreak.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Chris_Hemsworth_Extarction_2_.mp3 Extraction 2 is currently streaming on Netflix.

Chris Hemsworth returns as Tyler Rake in Extraction 2, the sequel to Netflix’s blockbuster action film Extraction. After barely surviving the events of the first movie, Rake is back as the Australian black ops mercenary, tasked with another deadly mission: rescuing the battered family of a ruthless Georgian gangster from the prison where they are being held.
Hemsworth reunites with director Sam Hargrave, with Joe and Anthony Russo’s Agbo producing and Joe Russo writing. Golshifteh Farahani reprises her role from the first film, with Adam Bessa, Olga Kurylenko, Daniel Bernhardt and Tinatin Dalakishvili also co-starring.
The film hits Netflix on June 16.

Tyler Rake was clinically dead when we last saw him at the end of “Extraction,” tumbling over a bridge in Bangladesh with a fatal, burbling bullet wound to his neck. But death is no match for Netflix.
Chris Hemsworth returns as the sad-sack, gun-for-hire Rake in “Extraction 2” and you’ll thank the giant streamer for such a nifty bit of resurrection because this franchise is pure cinematic adrenalin.

The new movie comes two years after a surprisingly good first instalment, which saw Rake intervene in a feud between two rival drug dealers, survive numerous double-crosses, ask things like “How many hostiles onsite?” and lob an inexhaustible number of grenades.

When we last left “Extraction” hero Tyler Rake (Chris Hemsworth) he was, well, he was dead. He’d been beaten, shot multiple times, and tossed into a river, where he was presumably (again) dead. And yet…in the final moments of the Sam Hargrave-directed feature, a shadowy figure emerged, looking a bit like Tyler, albeit very much not dead, to watch over his young charge so many months after his apparent death. But, in the world of blockbuster filmmaking, no one is ever really dead, least of all an ass-kicking Aussie mercenary with a secret soft side, and thus: “Extraction 2.”
That Tyler is indeed not dead has served as the backbone of the Netflix action sequel’s marketing campaign, complete with the kicky hashtag #TylerRakeLives and its accompanying “punching arm on fire” emoji (which is basically this franchise in a nutshell). So it should come as little surprise that...

“The most complicated one was the one in its entirety,” Hemsworth said, referring to the film’s eye-popping 21-minute long take. “Particularly in the section which is in the prison yard, where there’s 300 or 400 extras and background artists and stunt performers. Things are on fire. People are on fire. I’m on fire.”
Asked how he mentally prepared to be set on fire for the sequence, Hemsworth said, “You know, you use two parts of the brain. One’s going, ‘What the hell are we doing? This is insane. Get out of here.

When Netflix’s “Extraction” premiered in 2020, its elaborately constructed set pieces propelled it to become the streaming service’s most-watched original film to that point and marked director Sam Hargrave as a talent to watch. Hargrave and star Chris Hemsworth now return to the adventures of Australian black ops mercenary Tyler Rake (Hemsworth) for “Extraction 2,” a sequel that improves upon its predecessor in just about every way without losing sight of what audiences loved about the first movie. The action is bigger, the motivations more personal and affecting, and Hargrave’s command of his craft more assured.
Hargrave is part of one of the most positive trends in action filmmaking in recent years: The rise of directors with a background in stunts. The most famous examples are Chad Stahelski (the “John Wick” franchise) and David Leitch, who follow in the footsteps of ’70s and ’80s pioneers Hal Needham (“Smokey and the Bandit...

Universal executives last week made a statement about how lucrative early PVOD availability has been for the studio. Then on Friday, they made a statement suggesting how accepted the practice has become.
“Fast X,” with an investment approaching $500 million in production and marketing costs, became available on domestic platforms for $19.99 rental ($24.99 purchase). That was 22 days after it debuted in theaters, and grossed $67 million its opening weekend.
Hold on there — wasn’t the oft-repeated understanding that any Universal film that opened over $50 million had at least a 31 day window? This was widely reported when the studio came to an understanding with major exhibitors in 2020 (which included the latter having some participation in the revenue).
That has consistently been the minimum case over the past three years. And recently “The Super Mario Bros. Movie,” an even bigger grossing film, had a 41 day window, 10 days longer than normal.
Neither Universal nor exhibition sources would comment on this.

As the trailer for Extraction 2 has dropped, producers Russo Brothers confirmed that the forthcoming Netflix hit contains an ultra-complex 21-minute long-take (oner) composed/stitched from 30sec-1.5minute segments of accurate sequences. Hence, Extraction 2 will break the boundaries of the first movie which held a shorter oner of ‘only’ 11 minutes and 29 seconds.

As the release date for “Extraction 2” gets closer, Netflix has unveiled a brand new trailer for the action sequel.
In previously released trailers, it’s understood that Tyler Rake (Chris Hemsworth) has “fought his way back” after being “clinically dead nine months ago” following the events of the original 2020 action hit.
Now, the main trailer questions why — “You just have to find out why,” Nik Kahn (Golshifteh Farahani) tells Tyler. Khan is a Private Military Contractor and ally of Rake.

The official teaser trailer of Extraction 2 has been released. And it looks fantastic! The film was shot mainly on the Arri Mini Lf, with some scenes on the Red Komodo. However, by watching the trailer, we assume that the Komodo was the no.1 player here. Here are our two cents.
Director Sam Hargrave shooting Extraction 2. Picture: Jasin Boland Extraction 2: Same as 1, but better… a lot better
Extraction 1 was one of the best Netflix action films ever made. The film implements crazy cinematography techniques led by director Sam Hargrave. Dp was Newton Thomas Sigel, however, due to the challenging oner shots (long takes) that demanded specialized physical expertise, Hargrave was the man behind the camera. As a former stuntman, he was able to maneuver the Red Monstro during car chases and stitched long shots. Anyway, Hargrave, the director of the sequel, said that Extraction 2 contains even more extreme cinematography.

Kaitlin Butts wasn’t specifically thinking about the political environment in her adopted home of Tennessee when she shot the video for “What Else Can She Do,” but her timing for releasing it could not have been more perfect. Filmed last summer at the Hamburger Inn in Ardmore, Oklahoma, the clip features the Tulsa native Butts alongside Texas drag queen Paris Van Cartier doing their best to make ends meet while working in a small-town diner.

Based on his largely comedic background, Taika Waititi might have seemed like an unlikely candidate to direct action films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But there he was, directing Chris Hemsworth in the third Thor movie, Ragnarok. Of course, it was a huge success, and when Waititi presented his idea for a fourth Thor movie, Hemsworth — whose contract with Marvel had already expired — got right back on board. Waititi, who has earned an Oscar as a writer, came up with the script for Thor: Love and Thunder and, of course, directed it as well. Given the results, Hemsworth now believes that Waititi is pretty much the perfect kind of director for the MCU. (Click on the media bar below...

The latest offering from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), Thor: Love and Thunder, also signifies the fourth stand-alone film for the character (the most for any character). While it proves wildly entertaining and engaging for most of its running time, the film finds itself caught a bit too much in the whimsical nature of its subject and ends up a little too light on the story side of the ledger.
In Thor: Love and Thunder, Thor (Chris Hemsworth) embarks on an epic journey for inner peace. However, his retirement is halted when Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale) arrives seeking to extinguish all of the gods from the universe. In an effort to defeat this new foe, Thor joins forces with King Valkryie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Taika Waititi), and his former flame Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), who now possesses the magical hammer Mjolnir.

I think a reward is in order, perhaps a trip to one of our favorite cinematic “getaways”. I’m referring to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, or the ole’ “MCU” as many fans have dubbed it. Sure, it’s been almost two months to the day since our last visit, but don’t you want to be taken away in the cool confines of your local multiplex? A head’s up: unlike the last two entries, our favorite Sorceror Supreme is nowhere to be found, though longtime fans will recognize a supporting player from his comics series. Since 2017, we have been studying the availability of local content on the major subscription streaming services operating in Australia. Our latest report, which examines Netflix, Stan and for the first time, Amazon Prime Video, confirms that the level of local content on these services remains modest, although the number of original productions is growing.
There is also increasing variation between the three services in terms of the kind, age, and genre mix of Australian-made material they carry. The entry of Disney+ and Apple TV+ next month will add new complexity to this rapidly changing market.
We were surprised to learn how much Australian content Amazon Prime Video offers (over 400 Australian titles). However, Amazon is significantly different from Stan and Netflix for several reasons, which make direct comparisons between these services misleading.
Netflix: few local titles, but increasing investment
With an estimated audience of 11 million Australians, Netflix is the clear market leader.

Yes, the latest adventure from the comic-book blockbuster factory ticks all the customary Marvel boxes. It's a spirited adventure punctuated by heady bursts of CGI spectacle. It's got just enough fan-service cameos to delight knowing viewers. And there's at least one arguably gratuitous shirtless shot of its handsome hero (not that anyone is complaining).

He’s also the creator of the...
