Jeff Titus, who has spent 21 years in prison for the murder of two deer hunters in 1990, is a free man thanks to evidence discovered by a true-crime series and podcast.
Titus, a 71-year old man, left Lakeland Correctional Facility in Coldwater, Michigan, in part due to Investigation Discovery’s Killer In Question and Susan Simpson’s podcast Undisclosed.
It marks the latest innocent man to be freed as a result of the boom in interest in true-crime projects.
Titus’ conviction was overturned by U.S. Federal District Court Judge Paul D. Borman after the Michigan Conviction Integrity Unit, the Michigan Department of Attorney General and Titus’ attorneys at the Michigan Innocence Clinic submitted a joint filing requesting that the conviction be set aside, based on multiple Brady violations uncovered.
The series is produced by Red Marble Media, filmed in conjunction with Simpson’s Undisclosed podcast. It was they that uncovered the violations.

Based on the book Netflixed: The Epic Battle for America’s Eyeballs, Netflix vs. The World is an intriguing look at how Netflix came to dominate the streaming video landscape – from the early days of DVD rental by post, the companies “almost” sale to Blockbuster and their rise into new technologies of streaming subscription services. All told by those that were there from the beginning, including Netflix co-founder Mark Randolph… Though unfortunately Reed Hastings, the Other co-founder and current CEO of Netflix is nowhere to be seen outside of old archive footage.

Fcp handles competition disputes within the UK cinema sector.
Thomas Dillon has been appointed as the new chair of the Film Complaints Panel, the industry body established to adjudicate on competition disputes within the UK cinema sector.
Dillon’s appointment was announced today by the Film Distributors’ Association and the UK Cinema Association, the trade bodies representing the interests of UK film distributors and cinema operators respectively, each of which is also formally represented on the Panel.
The body was established following the publication of “Film: A report on the supply for films for exhibition in the UK”, a 1994 report by the (then) Monopolies and Mergers Commission. Noting a number of industry practices which were of concern to individual operators, the report proposed the establishment of a dispute resolution panel to address any such issues as they arose.
Although in the years since its establishment, the Panel has only adjudicated on a small number of cases, its continued...

Douglas Fairbanks Jr. ca. 1935. Douglas Fairbanks Jr. was never as popular as his father, silent film superstar Douglas Fairbanks, who starred in one action-adventure blockbuster after another in the 1920s (The Mark of Zorro, Robin Hood, The Thief of Bagdad) and whose stardom dates back to the mid-1910s, when Fairbanks toplined a series of light, modern-day comedies in which he was cast as the embodiment of the enterprising, 20th century “all-American.” What this particular go-getter got was screen queen Mary Pickford as his wife and United Artists as his studio, which he co-founded with Pickford, D.W. Griffith, and Charles Chaplin. Now, although Jr. never had the following of Sr., he did enjoy a solid two-decade-plus movie career. In fact, he was one of the few children of major film stars – e.g., Jane Fonda, Liza Minnelli, Angelina Jolie, Michael Douglas, Jamie Lee Curtis – who had successful film careers of their own.
