Julianna Margulies and Peter Gallagher will star in a new Delia Ephron play on Broadway this fall.
The new play, called Left on Tenth and based on Ephron’s memoir, will be directed by Susan Stroman, director and choreographer of The Producers. Daryl Roth will produce. A theater and dates for the Broadway engagement have not yet been announced.
The play follows Delia, who co-wrote You’ve Got Mail and the play Love, Loss and What I Wore with her sister, Nora Ephron, as she reconnects with a man from her past and “falls into her own romantic comedy,” as she battles cancer.
Marguiles, a star of The Morning Show and The Good Wife, has previously appeared on Broadway in the 2006 play Festen. Gallagher has ten Broadway credits, most recently starring in the 2015 revival of On the Twentieth Century, and is also known for his on-screen work, including on The O.C. and Grace and Frankie.

Exclusive: Sony’s 3000 Pictures has acquired Delia Ephron’s New York Times best-selling memoir Left On Tenth. Ephron will adapt, with Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, and Laurence Mark producing the feature. Daryl Roth is executive producing. Ephron will simultaneously write and develop the memoir as a play for Roth to produce and Susan Stroman to direct, marking the first time both a feature and play adaptation will be developed at the same time
The memoir has Ephron at the center as she struggles through several years of heartbreak. She’d lost her sister, Nora, and then her husband, Jerry, both to cancer. She channeled her grief the best way she knew: by writing a New York Times op-ed. The piece caught the attention of Peter, a Bay Area psychiatrist, who emailed her to commiserate and reminded her that they had shared a few dates fifty-four years before. After several...

Locarno, Switzerland — Focusing very much on her new career as a director and producer, Meg Ryan is preparing “The Obsolescents,” a half-hour comedy. Developed from an original idea by Ryan, and turning on middle-age, the series is being written by Andrew Gottlieb (“Z Rock”). Ryan, who has sold the idea to NBC, will produce, may contribute to writing.
The scripts are at an initial stage. Ryan took the idea to Broadway Video Ent., headed by Lorne Michaels, the creator and executive producer of “Saturday Night Live,” who introduced her to Gottlieb, Ryan said at Switzerland’s Locarno Festival where on Friday night she was presented on stage the Festival’s 2018 Leopard Club Award, following in the footsteps of Faye Dunaway, Mia Farrow, Andy Garcia, Stefania Sandrelli and Adrien Brody.
Celebrating Ryan’s career, the Locarno Festival will screen “Sleepless in Seattle” (1993) and “In the Cut” (2003).

The Empire State Building finale of “Sleepless in Seattle,” the hit romantic comedy starring Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks celebrating its 25th anniversary on June 25, has become an indelible scene in pop culture.
It almost didn’t happen — but fortunately, Nora Ephron knew people.
Annie (Ryan), a writer from Baltimore, finally meets Seattle widower (Tom Hanks) and his young son Jonah (Ross Malinger) at the observation deck on the famed landmark on Valentine’s Day.
But producer Gary Foster recalled they weren’t granted permission to shoot there.
So, Foster told Ephron, who co-wrote and directed the film. “And Nora said, ‘I know somebody.’ It was a famous publicist who represented Leona Helmsley, who was in prison at the time. The man said I’m going to see her in a few days and I’ll bring her up.”

"Me and Earl and the Dying Girl" director Alfonso Gomez-Rejon is reportedly attached to helm an adaptation of Delia Ephron's upcoming novel "Siracusa" for Working Title.
Ephron will pen the adaptation of the story about two couples on vacation together in Sicily where the secrets they have hidden from each other are exposed and relationships are unraveled. The story is said to have a "Rashomon-style" structure.
Gomez-Rejon has been linked to the political thriller "A Foreigner" along with Oscar Isaac, but it's uncertain if that is still going forward.
One project he is still very much attached to is "The Current War," the Jake Gyllenhaal and Benedict Cumberbatch-led film about the electricity rivalry between George Westinghouse and Thomas Edison. That still hasn't locked a start date as yet.

While "Me And Earl And The Dying Girl" director Alfonso Gomez-Rejon was a victim to the annual Sundance backlash, where a film gets praised in Park City only to flop commercially and get critical barbs when it's released down the line, it hasn't stopped from pressing on with new projects. While he might a slight bump in the road last fall when he abruptly exited Will Smith's upcoming "Collateral Beauty" (David Frankel took over), he's got some major projects brewing including "The Current War" with Benedict Cumberbatch and Jake Gyllenhaal attached and "A Foreigner" set to star Oscar Isaac. Now the director's slate has one more cooking. Deadline reports that Gomez-Rejon will direct an adaptation of Delia Ephron's upcoming novel "Siracusa." Set to be published this summer, the author will adapt her own "Rashomon"-like story about four friends who travel to Italy, where infidelity and catastrophe surface.

'Sleepless in Seattle': Meg Ryan 'Sleepless in Seattle' review: Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks in an affair to forget In Krzysztof Kieslowski's Three Colors: Red, the last installment of his "Three Colors" trilogy, the word "magic" is never bandied about. No need to. Magic is just about everywhere in that lyrical tale about love and fate. World Narrative Competition: Israel, in Hebrew with subtitles.
The Nora Ephron Prize : Zero Motivation, written and directed by Talya Lavie (Israel). Winner receives $25,000, sponsored by Coach, Inc. The award was given by Delia Ephron, Carol Kane, Natasha Lyonne, and Tanya Wexler along with Stephanie Stahl, Executive Vice President, Marketing and Strategy, Coach Inc.
The Founders Award for Best Narrative Feature – Zero Motivation, written and directed by Talya Lavie (Israel). Winner receives $25,000, sponsored by At&T, and the art award “Central Park, NY” by Tony Bennett. The award was given by Robert De Niro and Jane Rosenthal joined by Esther Lee, Svp Brand Marketing/Advertising, At&T.
Jury Comments: “The winner of this year’s Founder’s Award follows young women who must find their place and establish their identity in a world normally dominated by men and machismo. They do so with humor, strength and intellect. The filmmaker mirrors these same qualities. We believe a new, powerful, voice has emerged.”
Zero Motivation is about the daily occurrences among young and restless, female Israeli soldiers serving their mandatory military sentences on a remote base in the hot Israeli desert. They kill time playing computer games, filing paper, and chasing male soldiers.
The story starts off where one non-military girl dresses up as a soldier and sneaks on to the base to be closer to a boy that she likes. When she finds him kissing another girl, she kills herself.
Meanwhile, a blonde haired soldier, who believes she is now possessed by the dead girls ghost, starts acting like a zombie, and begins to follow around the only female virgin on the kibbutz. The virgin is trying to lose her virginity with a male soldier that is scheduled to leave the next day. The possessed zombie blonde follows the virgin around to make sure she is safe, and makes sure she makes the right decisions.
Very amusing.

[Warning: This post contains spoilers about the Sunday, March 23 episode of The Good Wife.] Good Wife viewers are still getting over the shocking incident that occurred Sunday night and even Hollywood screenwriters are struggling to deal with what happened. Delia Ephron, Nora Ephron's sister and writer of movies like You've Got Mail, was so affected by Will Gardner getting gunned down on Sunday's episode that she couldn't sleep, took half a Valium, overslept and then took the wrong subway the next morning, she writes in Wednesday's New York Times. Kids, you may not believe this, but some of us are old enough to remember when you used to have to connect to the Internet via 56k dial-up modems. Or that AOL was once the most popular Internet service provider, so popular that everyone recognized the cheerful "You've Got Mail" alert that sounded when you signed on. Or that the "You've Got Mail" greeting was a promise that there was something exciting waiting for you in your e-mail inbox, not just spam ads for Canadian Viagra. Don't believe us? There's a historical document you should check out, aptly titled, "You've Got Mail."
It's been just 15 years since Nora Ephron's romantic comedy opened (December 18, 1998), but it seems like eons ago, not just because the Internet has evolved so much since then, but because we've all watched the unwitting romance between Kathleen Kelly (Meg Ryan) and Joe Fox (Tom Hanks) -- business rivals by day,...

For Delia Ephron, the screenwriter, essayist and novelist behind films like “You’ve Got Mail” and books like “The Lion Is In,” writing is a form of therapy. That’s not a surprise, given that her parents were screenwriters Phoebe and Henry Ephron (“Desk Set”) and her sister was none other than the late, great Nora Ephron, who routinely cooked up romantic comedy confections like “When Harry Met Sally” and “Sleepless in Seattle.” So when her sister died in 2012 at the age of 71 from cancer, and the world mourned her talent, Delia Ephron retreated from the flood of encomiums and obituaries.

In the late '80s and throughout the '90s, not a year went by without a movie starring Meg Ryan. The bubbly blonde actress became "America's Sweetheart" thanks to films including "When Harry Met Sally," "Sleepless in Seattle," and "You've Got Mail."
But in the last decade, Ryan has all but disappeared from the screen, doing only small, supporting roles here and there. Why did one of the most sought-after actresses in Hollywood disappear?
According to the latest issue of People, it's not because Ryan wasn't getting offers. Rather, she's chosen to focus on her family -- 8-year-old daughter Daisy and rocker boyfriend John Mellencamp. Ryan, now 51, literally disappeared from Hollywood by moving to New York.

Twenty years ago, Meg Ryan ruled the box office as "America's Sweetheart" with her hit romantic comedy Sleepless in Seattle.Today, she is rarely in front of the camera and does her best not to be recognized, whether summering on Martha's Vineyard or tooling around her downtown Manhattan neighborhood. At 51, the onetime queen of romantic comedies has largely retreated from Hollywood, preferring instead to focus on her life with her 8-year-old daughter, Daisy, and her boyfriend, rocker John Mellencamp, 61. Living in New York "makes you different," her friend, writer Delia Ephron, tells People in this week's cover story. "Los Angeles is just about movies.

It's been 39 years since "The Brady Bunch" concluded its five-season run, but rerun heaven has kept the series very much alive, and the cast's frequent reunions have allowed them to stay within reach of the spotlight. But what exactly has this lovable clan been up to since their goofy sitcom said goodbye in 1974? Most of them have popped up in a variety of TV shows and movies, but a few others have taken decidedly more low-key paths. Here's the story of what one of television's most famous families is up to today.
Florence Henderson (Carol Brady)
Current age: 79
The only member of the "Brady Bunch" cast to retain her icon status, Henderson appeared on "Dancing with the Stars" in 2010. She currently hosts "The Florence Henderson Show," a daily talkfest on Retirement Living TV. Henderson also regularly pops up in guest-starring roles, including a gig on "Samantha Who?" that earned her an Emmy nomination.

At a memorial service largely orchestrated by the honoree, the late Nora Ephron, celebrities including Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks -- stars of the 1993 Ephron movie "Sleepless in Seattle" -- remembered the writer/director in New York on Monday (July 9).
Also on hand, 800 attendees including Barbara Walters, Marha Stewart, Larry David, Rosie O'Donnell, Steven Spielberg, Bette Midler, Regis Philbin, Meryl Streep, Carl Bernstein (Ephron's ex), designer Diane von Furstenberg, Senator Al Franken, Jon Hamm, Steve Martin, Charlie Rose and director Mike Nichols.
The ceremony opened with a talk from comedian and longtime Ephron friend Martin Short who shared some of his favorite Ephron lines ("Hazelnuts are what's wrong with Europe."), but there were 10 other speakers including Streep and Nora's sister, Delia Ephron.
Ephron directed that the service be "finished in under 47 minutes" and her presence was felt everywhere -- even in the programs, which contained various recipes, reports the New York Times.

The mood was somber at Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall on Monday as a crowd of about 800 filed into the New York City landmark to celebrate the life and work of Nora Ephron, who died suddenly last month at age 71 from pneumonia brought on by acute myeloid leukemia. But as the lights dimmed and a stream of family members and famous friends took the stage to share memories of Ephron, making the intimate auditorium reverberate with laughter and applause, it quickly became clear Ephron's memorial would be hilarious and heartfelt. For the blazingly witty Ephron, it couldn’t have been a more fitting tribute.
“Don’t be afraid to be funny,” said Martin Short, who was the first to take the stage, of the instructions Ephron’s son Jacob Bernstein had given him in advance of the memorial.

In light of this weeks news of the passing of noted author, playwright, producer and director Nora Ephron, today we are highlighting some of the most memorable moments from her accomplished and versatile career onscreen and onstage. Ephrons artistic output consisted of collections of essays, memoirs, novels, screenplays, feature films, plays and producing duties on projects close to her heart, as well as a considerable amount of awareness raising for womens causes and general charitable work for the arts. While perhaps best known for her much-loved trio of romantic comedies When Harry Met Sally, Sleepless In Seattle and Youve Got Mail, Ephron also penned the screenplay for the Mike Nichols biopic Silkwood about whistleblower Karen Silkwood, as well as wrote and directed the recent hit comedy Julie amp Julia, re-teaming with her friend and consistent collaborator, three-time Oscar-winner Meryl Streep. Incidentally, Streep actually played Ephron - or at least a...

Sad news this evening, as writer, screenwriter, and director Nora Ephron has passed away at the age of 71.
It's hard to imagine the modern romantic comedy without the influence of Ephron, whose perceptive and humorous take on how the sexes interact set a template for a generation. It was Ephron's sense of humor that first got her noticed, pairing with (now celebrated writer) Calvin Trillin for a satirical newspaper that caught the eye of New York Post publisher Dorothy Schiff, who offered her a job. This began Ephron's journalism career that saw her write for a variety of publications including New York, Esquire, and The New York Times Magazine. In 1976, Ephron married Carl Bernstein of Watergate fame, and even did a draft of the screenplay for "All The President's Men" that ultimately wasn't used, but again, someone saw her talent and gave her a shot.

I got to meet Nora Ephron 20 years ago when she was promoting her directing debut, "This Is My Life," and I found her to be exactly like one of the heroines of her movies: smart, worldly, self-effacing, and as wittily eloquent as we all wish we could be in real life but almost never are. Actually, she was the heroine of most of her movies, since she specialized in the thinly veiled autobiographical roman a clef. Ephron, who died at 71 on June 26, made herself a trailblazer -- as a writer of influential romantic comedies (notably, "When Harry Met Sally," "Sleepless in Seattle," and "You've Got Mail"), as a successful director at a time when few women held that distinction, and as one of the most powerful women in the film industry -- but she did it all simply by being herself. The urge to transform her life into art came naturally to Ephron.

Alexis Bledel gazes coyly at the camera, her piercing blue eyes exuding honesty and an air of mystery, as if she knows a secret no one else does.Clad in a wine-colored lace dress, she moves self-consciously, illustrating a physical awareness endemic to performers. Though she began her career as a teen model, her comfort level posing for pictures has faded, leaving something very human and relatable."You fall in love with her," says Carolyn Cantor, who directs Bledel in the world premiere of Matt Charman's "Regrets," which opened at Manhattan Theatre Club March 27. "She's so genuine and so honest. She's incapable of lying."With "Regrets," Bledel is abandoning cameras altogether, and—aside from a brief stint in Nora and Delia Ephron's "Love, Loss, and What I Wore" Off-Broadway in 2011—she's taking on the stage for the first time. Set in 1950s Nevada, "Regrets" centers on a desert retreat center where men go.
