Just weeks ago, Sir Elton John became the 19th entertainer to win the highly desirable Egot by claiming his first ever Emmy Award. And now, which person is the most likely to be the 20th Egot later this year, in 2025 or beyond? Here is a summary of the 80 people who have the best chance right now.
The most likely duo could be composers Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (actually meaning a 20th and 21st Egot if they win). They are producers and songwriters for the third season of “Only Murders in the Building,” so they will have a couple of opportunities in September at the Emmys. They first won an Oscar, Tony, and Grammy.
For the 2024 Grammys, nobody is nominated who could become an Egot, so the next possible chance would be 2025. There are a total of 25 people who have won everything needed except a Grammy. They are actress Ellen Burstyn,...

Only an elite group of 19 artists so far have achieved Egot status, winning an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony.
The rare and coveted Egot is not easy to come by, so it’s not surprising that fewer than two dozen have achieved this status. And while the artists don’t get a final Egot trophy when it happens, its nonetheless one of show business’ greatest honors.
So, who does have the Egot?
Andrew Lloyd Webber, John Legend, Tim Rice, Rita Moreno, Audrey Hepburn, Mel Brooks, Mike Nichols, Whoopi Goldberg, Helen Hayes, Marvin Hamlisch, Robert Lopez, Richard Rodgers, John Gielgud, Jonathan Tunick, Alan Menken, Jennifer Hudson, Viola Davis and Scott Rudin are those who have won all four awards competitively.
While Barbra Streisand, James Earl Jones, Harry Belafonte, Quincy Jones and Liza Minnelli have all received honorary non-competitive awards, not everyone considers them to be Egot achievements.

South Park, fresh off its two December Post Covid movie events, will return to Comedy Central for its 25th season next month.
The long-running animated comedy from co-creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker will return with six episodes on Wednesday, Feb. 2 to celebrate its milestone premiere. Weekly episodes will then follow, for the first time since the last full season in 2019.
“To be halfway done with “South Park” is a great accomplishment-we can’t lie,” said co-creators Matt
Stone and Trey Parker.
The irreverent comedy has been renewed on Comedy Central through 2027 and will expand with a total of 14 original movies on Paramount+, in the co-creators’ massive deal with ViacomCBS.
Amid the Covid-19 pandemic, South Park has taken on a number of topics ranging from vaccines, Q-Anon and more with its specials. The first in 2020 was South Park’s ‘Pandemic Special,’ which marked the series’ best ratings in seven years.

Trey Parker and Matt Stone, co-creators of South Park, have signed a sweeping renewal with ViacomCBS that will keep the show on Comedy Central through 2027 and send 14 original movies to Paramount+.
The official announcement of the deal did not specify a dollar figure but multiple press reports pegged it at $900 million, one of the richest ever. While the new pact is a sign of the company looking to feed its own platforms, ViacomCBS set a lucrative licensing pact with WarnerMedia for a chunk of the show’s library to stream on HBO Max, though it retained many key rights.
Two of the original South Park films will premiere on Paramount+ in 2021, with two a year planned through 2027.

The pact also renews “South Park” as a series for Comedy Central through its 30th season in 2027. Bloomberg News reported that the deal was valued at $900 million over the six-year term.
That’s an eye-popping number that includes the license fees for 14 movies and three additional 10-episode seasons of the “South Park” series, produced through the pair’s Park County banner. It’s understood that the deal calls for ViacomCBS to advance Parker and Stone $150 million a year to cover their fees for the upcoming productions as well as their ongoing profit participation stakes from the franchise.

The Book of Mormon, the Tony-winning musical comedy by Trey Parker, Matt Stone and Robert Lopez, will resume Broadway performances at the Eugene O’Neill Theatre on Friday, Nov. 5, producer Anne Garefino announced today. But there might well be some changes.
The show’s writers will begin rehearsals with the cast in the Fall, having agreed to discuss and possibly adjust elements of the show deemed racially problematic. Several months ago, twenty actors from the original and most recent Broadway casts signed their names to a letter asking the writers and producers to reevaluate aspects of the show.

Hollywood is starting to speak up about film and Broadway producer Scott Rudin’s long, alleged history of abusive behavior toward staff and collaborators. Rudin’s behavior has been heavily documented in both a Hollywood Reporter exposé and a Vulture.com deep dive.
On Saturday, the New York Times published an extensive story interviewing such erstwhile Rudin collaborators as Rita Wilson, David Geffen, Robert Fox, and playwright Adam Rapp. In one particularly harrowing section, Wilson talked about her experience working with Rudin on Broadway for Larry David’s 2015 play “Fish in the Dark,” the same year she was diagnosed with breast cancer.
“When she told Mr. Rudin the news, she said, he complained that she would need time off during Tony voting season and asked to see her medical records, while Anna Shapiro, the director, grew upset about having to find a replacement,” the story reads. “A few days later,...

“South Park” is sticking around for a few more years. Ahead of its 23rd season, Comedy Central has agreed to a new deal with Matt Stone and Trey Parker to keep the longrunning cartoon for an additional three seasons.
That will take “South Park” through Season 26 and 327 episodes. Stone and Parker, as they have since it debuted in 1997, will continue to write, direct and edit every episode.
“South Park” is the longest running primetime scripted series on cable and will surpass its 300th episode this season — though that still leaves it some 300 episodes shy (and counting) of that other long-running animated series in “The Simpsons.” Among young adults, “South park” has been the highest-rated cable comedy in primetime for the last six years.

Stan, Kyle, Cartman, Kenny and co. are far from done with their shenanigans yet.
Comedy Central has renewed “South Park” for three more seasons, taking it to a record-breaking 26th season and at least 327 episodes. Season 23 of the longest-running scripted cable series is set to premiere on Sept. 25.
The show, which follows a group of four boys and their friends living in the small town of South Park, Colo., will hit the 300th episode milestone during the upcoming season. It will still trail “The Simpsons” by four seasons in terms of the longest-running animated series of all time.
“Apparently, our efforts to get our own show cancelled have fallen short,” joked creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone in a statement. “Luckily, we love Comedy Central and Kent Alterman and our staff so we are looking forward to new cancellation opportunities in the next few years.”

Paramount Pictures has entered into a three-year first-look deal with South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone, effective immediately, the studio said Thursday. The acerbic pair, best known for mocking pop culture icons, will need extra large business cards because they named their new banner Trunity, a Mediar company, a division of True Mediar, a Unity Corpbopoly. Parker and Stone will develop projects for Paramount that they will direct, write and produce. Anne Garefino and Jennifer Howell, who have worked on Comedy Central's South Park since it bowed in 1997, will join Parker and Stone at the new shingle. Garefino will continue to serve as executive producer on the half-hour comedy and will produce Parker and Stone's Paramount projects. Kurt Nickels also has joined the Trunity team.

South Park co-creators and executive producers Trey Parker and Matt Stone have re-upped with Comedy Central in a two-year renewal that will keep them and their subversive, Emmy-nominated animated series anchored to the network through at least 2005. The pact calls for Parker and Stone to produce 15 episodes per season and kicks in next spring, with originals spread out through the spring and fall. The deal also includes an option for a third year that would take the duo through 2006. By the end of 2005, they will have made 141 episodes of the cartoon series, which serves up its 100th episode April 9. The show launched its seventh season March 19. If the option is exercised, that would stretch South Park to a 10th season, which would make the show the longest-running primetime comedy series in basic cable history. The show's other executive producer, Anne Garefino, also extended her deal with the network and will remain on board along with her fellow producers.
