Three years after its initial launch, ShowYou is making big moves, and in order to steer its rise, it has turned to a man with a wealth of online video experience. It has hired Andy Forssell, the former CEO of Hulu, as its own CEO. Forssell, who first joined Hulu in 2007, became the company's acting CEO in March 2013 after Jason Kilar left the company. Forssell led Hulu through a turbulent few months that saw it consider and ultimately decline several reported acquisition bids. In October, Hulu found its new CEO, former Fox executive Mike Hopkins. When Hopkins took over, Forssell parted ways with Hulu entirely. That brings us to ShowYou. The app, founded by Mark Hall, began as a way to aggregate videos across social networks, but it has recently added in a new subscription-based service for video channels. This big step forward require an equally big presence, which led ShowYou to Forssell.

There's a new service available for content creators who wish to sell their videos behind a paywall. ShowYou, which initially launched as a tool for aggregating videos across social media networks, is now giving content creators the opportunity to build subscription-based, pay-to-view channels for their biggest fans. The new service is an extension of ShowYou's curated video pages, which it launched last year. Essentially, ShowYou allows content creators to create their own channels, and the site's users then look through the complete library and subscribe to the channels that interest them. This creates a feed of handpicked videos customized to each user's interests. The site's most popular channels, such as CollegeHumor, IFC, and the Mls, often come from established brands. The new subscription-based service, in hopes of addressing the desire for more profitable revenue streams in the online video industry, allows channel creators to set a price for their subscriptions.

London, Feb 6: For romance to blossom into a long-term relationship, you have to have 22 meals out together, two holidays and spend at least 3,000 pounds on gifts, researchers have claimed.
And if that sounds like hard work, you also have to weather seven major arguments to go the distance as a couple.
Perhaps this is why the 2011 census found the number of single adults in the UK rose by more than 3 million to 15.7 million, while the number of married couples hardly moved at all in ten years, the Daily Mail reported.
The statistics were mirrored in the research by lifestyle advice site Socked.co.uk.
Managing director Mark Hall said that while singletons are now able to meet online, as well as through old.

For any child raised between the mid-seventies and early nineties, the work of Brian Cosgrove, and his creative partner Mark Hall will be instantly familiar. From the adventures of a not particularly successful rodent secret agent, and the bizarre home life of a vegetarian vampire duck, to the stop-motion antics of Ratty, Badger, Mole and Toad, their creations dominated afternoon TV in a way that Rastamouse could only dream of.
In addition to his work on children’s TV series, Cosgrove produced and directed the 1989, animated adaptation of Roald Dahl’s novel The Bfg, which comes to Blu-Ray this week. Cosgrove recently took the time to talk to HeyUGuys about the film, as well as his other work, his views on Wes Anderson’s Fantastic Mr Fox, and his frequent collaborations with the actor David Jason.
On watching the film again, 23 years after it was first released and thinking back to the production.

London, September 15: Males from Britain have lost all their impeccable manners, a new study has revealed.
A new survey found that a mere four percent of men would be willing to give up their seat to a pregnant woman and 46 percent admit to spitting in the street.
The study by Socked.co.uk found that only 40 percent men would hold a door open for a female.
Mark Hall, managing director of the internet sock retailer said the nation needs to restore its reputation.
"It's shameful that we have let our standards slip," the Daily Express quoted him as saying.
"Visitors from overseas associate Great Britain as a place filled with discerning gents with impeccable manners, but nothing could be further from.

With Steven Spielberg's The Bfg in cinemas, we look back at the 1989 Cosgrove Hall adaptation feat. David Jason…
On Christmas day 1989, ITV premiered the most charming child abduction story ever told: Cosgrove Hall’s animated adaptation of Roald Dahl’s The Bfg.
Directed by Brian Cosgrove, co-founder of the UK animation studio behind The Wind In The Willows, Danger Mouse, Count Duckula and a whole raft of the sort of kids’ TV that thirty-somethings still get excited about in pubs, The Bfg was, and is, a lovely thing.
Imaginative, funny, and just on the trippy side of weird, the film tells Roald Dahl’s story of orphan Sophie and the titular Big Friendly Giant’s scheme to stop bigger, much less-friendly giants from roaming the globe and gobbling up human beans. But before Cosgrove and co-producer Mark Hall could relay that tale, they had their own...

'He could be quite vocal, Roald Dahl, if he didn't like something so it was a real relief he liked our film'
Brian Cosgrove, director
Quentin Blake was Roald Dahl's illustrator of choice, and his art for the book was perfect: very simple line drawings, perfectly balanced. But we wanted our giant to be more believable and scary.
I painted a watercolour of how we saw him. I got a lovely note back from Dahl saying it was perfect, he was right behind it, and to just get on and do it. Sophie, the little girl who befriends the Bfg, was easy. I had read that Dahl based her on his granddaughter, Sophie Dahl. At the time she wore John Lennon glasses, so we took it from there.
David Jason voiced the giant. I first found him when I was doing voice tests for Danger Mouse. With a lot of voice actors,...

A while back I posted an awesome desk that collector Mark Hall had Tom Spina Designs created for him in the likeness of The Avengers. Melissa from Tom Spina Designs was kind enough to shoot me an e-mail so that I could share with you that Mr. Hall is auctioning off his prized Avengers themed desk. The desk design was done by Tom Spina and Richard Riley, with Riley doing all the fabrication work. Hall had previously auctioned off his Han Solo carbonite desk that was created for him that fetched over $10,000 for charity. The proceeds for this auction will go to benefit the charity Wash (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) who helps combat the over 4,000 children that die of water-and sanitation-related diseases. Check out some photos of the desk below which includes Captain America's Shield, Thor's Hammer, Iron Man's helmet and Arc Reactor, Hawkeyes arrows, Nick Furry's Needle gun,...

The way this season of “Spartacus: Vengeance” has gone, you know there is some serious bloodletting in the finale, “Wrath Of The Gods.” And this time, several major characters will breathe their last. Let’s get right to the glorious carnage.
We start with Spartacus, looking down from Vesuvius. A sneak attack is planned on the Roman soldiers at the bottom, a desperate attempt to get food, no doubt. But the attack doesn’t go quite as planned,...

Atlanta -- Four times a week, Mark Hall ministers to youth at a suburban Atlanta megachurch, working from an office where the walls are lined with vintage Marvel comic books and that also houses a stone-like desk decorated with symbols from "The Avengers."

When Mark Hall's death was announced, one of Britain's leading animation businesses put a message on Twitter: "Deeply saddened by the passing of our dear friend Mark Hall. Our company would not be here without him." Hall neither founded that business nor took any part in it. But its directors learned their trade under his unique guidance and inspiration, and never forgot it.
In his long professional life, Mark had two consistent passions. One was for filming stories by great children's writers, in ways which would respect and amplify the original work. The other was for teaching the craft and technique of animated film. The company he founded with Brian Cosgrove was born in the 1960s, when UK animation was a failing cottage industry and even Disney was in the doldrums. So they daringly built their team of film-makers from scratch, bringing new young recruits out of art colleges...

Aaron Ashmore as Steve Jinks
There is one trait that 31-year-old Aaron Ashmore is really happy that he and Steve Jinks, his new character on Syfy's hit show Warehouse 13, don't have in common. No, it's not the fact that Jinks is gay and Ashmore is straight. It's that Jinks can always tell whether someone is lying or not, a trick Ashmore is neither capable of pulling off, nor interested in learning to do.
And, honestly, who wants to know whether or not someone is lying when they say, "Omg, that was amazing!"
Something that is amazing, however, is how much things have changed on Syfy since AfterElton.com first started reporting on that network's lack of Glbt visibility. Back in 2008, we asked Syfy president Dave Howe about why his network's only gay character was the barely there Vincent on Eureka. Said Howe at the time, I don’t think...

A social networking app just for videos--designed especially for tablets and mobile--gives you the feeling of having the world of web video in the palm of your hand.
Mark Hall, the CEO of a company called Remixation, was sitting around with some colleagues last fall, playing with his iPad. In fact, they were all playing with iPads. "We were mildly obsessed," he recalls. Hall and his colleagues work in the online video space--Remixation made VodPod, a video curation site with almost 10 million monthly unique visitors--and they realized that the iPad, in some ways, was the device that web video lovers had been waiting for. But there was something lacking--no one, they felt, had yet made a mechanism for finding, discovering, and sharing videos on the iPad. There wasn't an app for that.
Today, they hope, everything changes. That's because the Remixation team is releasing ShowYou, which they think fills a...

Imagine the nostalgic charm of the hit TV series Are You Afraid of the Dark? combined with the gore of Tales From The Crypt and the nasty plot twists of the hit HBO series The Hitchhiker. Now utilize the anthology format of Tales From The Darkside. Throw in some dashes of The Twilight Zone and you have "Lee Martin's The Midnight Hour". Director and series host Lee Martin is bringing back the TV horror anthology format for horror fans with the first and only homegrown dramatic horror TV series from Michigan. No wonder the show is finding an increasing larger audience as it starts to accumulate an ever growing cult fan base as it takes all the elements of our favorite TV horror series and throws it into a single, cohesive narrative. Filming of the May 2011 episode entitled "Don't Look Under The Bed" has just finished. In it......
