Everyone goes through a midlife crisis eventually. Some people will resolve it with purchasing a new car, getting a new career, or even obtaining a new wardrobe.
Not for Burt Squire. He goes on an adventure in the middle of the ocean.
Ld Entertainment recently acquired Ben Bolea’s script The Miserable Adventures Of Burt Squire Aboard The Horn High Yo.
The misadventures follows a family man as he embarks on a dream sailing vacation, but ends up shipwrecked in the Atlantic Ocean with a charming, but unhinged sea captain who’s off his meds.
Wme represented Bolea and brokered a mid-six figure deal.
Ld’s Mickey Liddell, Pete Shilaimon and Jennifer Monroe will produce the project along with Kim Zubick (The Zookeeper’S Wife).
“Ben’s script is riveting. This story is incredibly funny and smart, reminding me of classic 1980s buddy comedies like Planes, Trains And Automobiles and Midnight Run.

I'm not sure how well a remake of Jacob's Ladder would work, given the fact that so much of the experience is reliant on the twist at the end, but that's not stopping Hollywood from having a go at it. They're calling it an homage, rather than a remake, and a director has just been tapped to helm the project.
Read on for the skinny!
As per The Wrap, James Foley has signed on to direct the so-called homage. Foley was the director of 1992's Glengarry Glen Ross and he has recently directed episodes of Netflix's "House of Cards" and NBC's "Hannibal."
Mickey Liddell and Ld Entertainment’s Jennifer Monroe are producing the project with Michael Gaeta and Alison Rosenzweig. Jeff Buhler, who wrote the Clive Barker adaptation The Midnight Meat Train, is penning a script building upon an earlier draft by Jake Wade Wall, the scribe behind the 2006 remake of When a Stranger Calls.

"Glengarry Glen Ross" and "House of Cards" director James Foley is in negotiations to helm the new untitled take on Adrian Lyne's 1990 cult classic "Jacob’s Ladder" at Ld Entertainment.
Tim Robbins starred in the original as a Vietnam veteran suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder who begins experiencing increasingly bizarre hallucinations that bleed into his everyday life. While many have debated the final twist of the film, the movie is mostly remembered for its truly bizarre and intensely surreal moments.
"Midnight Meat Train" writer Jeff Buhler is penning the script for the new version which has been described as a homage rather than an outright remake. The plan is to "contemporize the story with new situations and characters but still maintain a story that examines issues and poses existential questions."

Patrick Aiello is producing with Ld Entertainment CEO Mickey Liddell, and Pete Shilaimon. The film has elements of Charlie And The Chocolate Factory, in that Santa Claus is confirmed to be real, and he wants to retire. That leads to a lengthy search for a worthy replacement. Aiello, who is producing As Above, So Below for Legendary, hatched the concept. Jennifer Monroe and Patrick Raymond will oversee for Ld Entertainment. The company began by acquiring finished films, but now is branching into production. Janszen’s script credits include A Walk To Remember, Duma, Gracie and Dolphin Tale.
