Jet frontman Nic Cester revealed in a recent interview that he auditioned to be the singer of AC/DC in 2016. The job eventually went to Axl Rose, but Cester has quite a story to tell his grandkids one day.
Twenty years ago, Jet were the hottest rock export out of Australia, with hits like “Are You Gonna Be My Girl” and “Cold Hard Bitch” featuring a sound that melded the power of fellow Aussies AC/DC with the garage-rock stylings of The White Stripes.

Slash and some of his famous friends will celebrate the blues this summer on the Guns N’ Roses guitarist’s upcoming touring S.E.R.P.E.N.T. festival. In addition to Slash, who recently announced a new album, the lineup will variously include the Warren Haynes Band, Keb’ ‘Mo, Christone “Kingfish” Ingram, Robert Randolph, Samantha Fish, Eric Gales, Zz Ward, Jackie Venson, and Larkin Poe, depending on the night.
The tour, which kicks off in Montana in July, will help raise money to fight racism and fight for civil rights.

Legendary hard-rock band AC/DC has paid tribute to their founding member Colin Burgess, following his death aged 77.
Burgess, an Australian drummer, was recruited to form the band in 1973, along with Malcolm Young on rhythm guitar, his brother Angus on lead guitar, Dave Evans on vocals and Larry Van Kriedt on bass.
Burgess was fired from the band the following year, after his colleagues accused him of being drunk on stage; he later said his drink had been spiked. Although he left the band, he returned to fill drumming duties in 1975.
AC/DC said on their social media pages:
“Very sad to hear of the passing of Colin Burgess. He was our first drummer and a very respected musician. Happy memories, rock in peace Colin.”
No cause of death has yet been reported.
Before joining AC/DC, Burgess played between 1968 and 1972 with the Australian rock group the Masters Apprentices, a...

Hoth seems like a terrible planet for a rebel station. Sure, it's far enough away from anything that the Empire would have a tough time finding it (not that it ultimately stopped them), but it's cold, dangerous, and brutal.
Those conditions weren't just fictional, however. The production for "Star Wars: Episode V -- The Empire Strikes Back" shot the exterior scenes in Finse, Norway, with the battle scenes on nearby Hardangerjøkulen Glacier, and conditions weren't exactly favorable. Sure, it's got the right look, but Finse's average temperature in March when the Hoth scenes were filmed has highs around 25 degrees Fahrenheit and lows around 12 degrees Fahrenheit. That's just average, mind you, and not the only thing they were dealing with as they shot outside.
When "Empire" was filming, the weather was "awful," according to the book "The Making of Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back (Enhanced Edition)" by J.W. Rinzler. In fact,...

Despite numerous stuffies, toys, and webcomics making wampas seem cuddly and cute, when "Star Wars: Episode V -- The Empire Strikes Back" first came out, the fluffy white monster was pretty scary. A denizen of the ice planet Hoth where the Rebels have a base, a wampa sneaks up on Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) and captures him. He sticks Luke's feet to the ceiling of his cave with ice and saves him as a snack for later. As it turns out, the wampa costume itself was pretty difficult to deal with, according to a 2013 issue of "Star Wars Insider." It was also uncomfortable to wear and move in, leading to a scene that ended up being left out of the finished film, as was detailed in the book "The Making of Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back (Enhanced Edition)" by J.W. Rinzler.

AC/DC played their first show in seven years on Saturday night (October 7th) at the Power Trip festival in Indio, California. The evening also featured a set by fellow Rock & Roll Hall of Famers Judas Priest.
For this Power Trip gig, AC/DC’s lineup featured classic members Brian Johnson (vocals), Angus Young (lead guitar), and Cliff Williams (bass) alongside Stevie Young (rhythm guitar) and drummer Matt Laug.
Guns N’ Roses and Iron Maiden set the bar high at Power Trip the night before, but AC/DC were up to the challenge, showing no signs of rust as they ripped into “If You Want Blood (You’ve Got It),” marking the first time they’ve ever kicked off a set with the Highway to Hell song.
From there, the 24-song set featured one classic after another, with the very next tune being the iconic “Back in Black,” followed by other favorites like “Thunderstruck,...

Shredded fitness influencer Brian Johnson, better known as the “Liver King,” is at the center of a $25 million lawsuit.
The Liver King is known for his unusual primal diet of raw organs. Often shirtless in his videos, Johnson promotes the idea of “ancestral living,” a lifestyle built on rigorous workouts, freezing showers and a diet of raw animal livers, testicles and brains.
In December, after a journalist leaked emails in which the bodybuilder exposed his steroid use, Johnson posted a confession to YouTube, in which he admitted he used roughly $11,000 of steroids a month to achieve his look.
In the video, Johnson said he had “f—– up” and “misled” many people. He conceded that his previous claims that he had never used steroids were a lie, and he was “embarrassed and ashamed.”
Johnson was soon hit with a $25 million class-action lawsuit for deceptive marketing for his Ancestral Supplements. Johnson says...

Classic members Brian Johnson (vocals), Cliff Williams (bass), and Phil Rudd (drums) all rejoined AC/DC for their 2020 album Power Up. However, Rudd won’t be behind the kit when the band performs its first show in seven years on October 7th at the Power Trip festival in Indio, California.
On Saturday (September 9th), AC/DC posted rehearsal audio on their social pages (see below), with the caption: “Pwr Up for Power Trip! Listen to the rehearsal of the boys powering up with Cliff Williams, who’s coming out of retirement for the festival and Matt Laug on drums.”
Laug is a veteran drummer who has played with Alanis Morissette, Alice Cooper, and Slash’s Snakepit, among other acts. Most notably, he performed on several tracks on Morissette’s multiplatinum album Jagged Little Pill.
No reason was given for Rudd’s absence. The drummer had previously been replaced by Chris Slade...

Ashley is alive, but where the hell is she?!
Keeping up with the breakneck pace for all the twists and turns this series is throwing at us, Harlan Coben's Shelter Season 1 Episode 3 was filled to the brim with revelations.
Of course, it also opened the door for a gazillion more questions. This series is hellbent on keeping our heads spinning.
Is Brad alive or not? Who took Ashley and why? Why is Rachel being so shady? So all sides of the Shira, Hannah, and Ken triangle have touched in more ways than one? Whew!
The series mix-matching the characters and how the trio interact with each other are among the most fun things to happen.
During Harlan Coben's Shelter Season 1 Episode 2, we had a heavy dose of Mickey and Ema, and it was such a unique vibe. When Ema realized that she liked Mickey and dropped her antisocial defenses, we saw this genuinely caring,...

UK singer-songwriter Sam Fender played the second of two homecoming concerts on Saturday (June 10th) in Newcastle, and he was joined by a special guest for the occasion: AC/DC frontman Brian Johnson.
Johnson took the stage for renditions of the AC/DC classics “Back in Black” and “You Shook Me All Night Long.” Both tunes are from 1980’s iconic Back in Black album, the band’s first LP featuring Johnson, after he replaced the late Bon Scott.
Considering AC/DC haven’t performed since 2016, a cameo from Johnson is a rare occurrence. Fender and company were up for the moment, knocking out joyful, rousing renditions (as seen in fan footage of the concert).
Johnson, in particular, seemed to relish being onstage once again. Back in 2016, he was forced to step away from AC/DC’s US tour due to hearing loss and was famously replaced by Axl Rose of Guns N’ Roses.

John Cameron Mitchell was originally cast in John Hughes’ “The Breakfast Club,” but that incarnation of the movie never happened due to lack of funding, the actor told TheWrap.
The actor, best known for his role in the 2001 cult classic “Hedwig and the Angry Inch,” plays a sinister step-uncle to Jemima Kirke and Nico Tortorella’s characters in the new Apple TV+ series “City on Fire.” He had the occasion to revisit his brush with the Brat Pack when he and Molly Ringwald, who played rich girl Claire Standish in the ’80s high school classic, were both on the same flight.

Brian Johnson has become used to extremes. In the past few months, the caterwauling AC/DC lead singer has both made a triumphant comeback after deafness forced him off the road in 2016 and huddled in his mother-in-law’s Florida attic with a candle while Hurricane Ian decimated nearby coastal towns. Then he turned 75.

Welcome to this review of Ring Of Honor’s 19th Anniversary card, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and thou shalt not steal! So sayeth unto the word of God! The lord beith my shepherd! Unbegone from my tendered loins sprayed the pride of man. Whoeth so ever pulleth mine thumpeded heart like the beating of the great cockadoodledoo! Jumpeth did I atop the swimming shark and sayeth I unto you…ehhhhhh! We come now to the threshold of this most honorable ring. For 19 years haveth this mighty league of men and women braved so low a sport of false acts. Where hath been so deserved a hand upon the shoulder? Where have been the words of praise without the tongue everso forked? Why must this land run dry when greener grass to only those astride the path is bathed in the sweet nectar of the morning pour?...

AC/DC’s video for “Realize,” the thunderous opening track of the hard rockers’ recent Power Up album, presents a closeup of the band in dizzying detail. The camera gets right in Brian Johnson’s face and perches on the headstock of Angus Young’s guitar as they rock out in front of Young’s deafening wall of Marshall amps — and then it spins in circles on the floor, aiming up at the Aussie hellraisers. Each frame of the clip is disorienting.

AC/DC is powering up. On Wednesday, the iconic rock band dropped the music video for their latest single “Realize”, from their 2020 album Power Up. Related: AC/DC’s New Album ‘Power Up’ Debuts At No. 1 The black-and-white video features band members Angus Young, Stevie Young, Brian Johnson, Phil Rudd, Cliff Williams rocking out in a white room in front of...

AC/DC do what AC/DC do best in the video for the Power Up single “Realize.” The clip, filmed in black-and-white and through a guitar-distorting fisheye lens, shows the five musicians simply having a blast playing the no-frills rocker in a rehearsal studio. As the camera pans around, it reveals that lead guitarist Angus Young has a wall of about 40 Marshall amplifiers, which might account for some of the eye-stretching visuals. The track, which opens the album, is a masterclass in AC/DC, from its crushing, lumbering opening chords...

On AC/DC’s most recent tour, in 2016, the band seemed to be falling apart. Frontman Brian Johnson’s hearing was failing, and Axl Rose wound up replacing him for part of the run; rhythm guitarist Malcolm Young — the bedrock of the band — had developed dementia and could no longer play; bassist Cliff Williams was planning his exit; and drummer Phil Rudd had been placed under house arrest for threatening to kill a man.
Improbably, though, lead guitarist Angus Young has pulled the band back together. Johnson, Williams, and Rudd...

Welcome to this week’s Ring Of Honor double-sized review, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and we’ve got two weeks’ worth of wrestling to cover, so let’s get right to it.
December 26th 2020 Match #1: Dante Caballero and Joe Keys def. Ken Dixon and Eric Martin – Roh Dojo Challenge Tag Match The following is courtesy of rohwrestling.com:
This is an opportunity for the next generation of Roh stars to showcase their talent. All four men have made a name for themselves in Maryland Championship Wrestling (McW), one of the leading independent promotions and an affiliate of Roh. Dixon, Caballero and Keys all participated in the 2019 Top Prospect Tournament. Martin, who has competed in a couple dark matches in Roh, will be making his debut on Roh television. Caballero and Martin squared off to begin the match, and Caballero used chain wrestling to gain the advantage.

Anthony Michael Hall is heading back to high school, starring as the assistant principal and executive producing the independent drama “The Class,” Variety has learned exclusively..
Hall broke out as high school brainiac Brian Johnson in the 1985 classic “The Breakfast Club,” which focused on five students serving high school detention on a Saturday. “The Class” involves a diverse group of six high school seniors forced to show up on a Saturday to retake an exam they either failed or missed in order to graduate.
The students are challenged by their acting teacher to create their own characters and must bring their own personal experiences into an emotional space of improvisation in front of classmates they do not know. Faced with their cultural differences, prejudices and hidden fears, they are confronted to break through their own walls and establish truths when they are unprepared to deal with themselves emotionally.

For decades, AC/DC have defended their devil-horned crown as rock’s most stubborn band. They’ve survived deaths (singer Bon Scott in 1980, guitarist Malcolm Young in 2017) and dirty deeds (drummer Phil Rudd was placed on house arrest after threatening to kill a man). Yet, they remain eternally committed to their core values: rocking out, hailing Satan, and never going within an outback mile of a ballad. Hell, their most transgressive move ever was using the bagpipes on “It’s a Long Way to the Top,” and that was in...

Two days before AC/DC release their latest LP Power Up, the band has unleashed the album’s opening salvo “Realize.”
As with first single “Shot in the Dark,” “Realize” proves that the six-year hiatus, health woes, lineup changes, and deaths haven’t diluted AC/DC’s trademark sound, with Power Up’s opening track a foot-stomping rocker propelled by Angus Young’s unmistakeable riffs.
“Realize,” like every song on Power Up, is credited to Angus and his late brother, AC/DC rhythm guitarist Malcolm Young, who died in 2017.

Match #1: Tracy Williams def. Fred Yehi – Block A Semi-Final Match The following is courtesy of rohwrestling.com:
Williams applied a hammerlock, but Yehi used his first of three allotted rope breaks. Less than 20 seconds later, Williams applied the same hold and Yehi used another rope break. Yehi hit an exploder suplex, then trapped Williams in a Koji Clutch, which forced Williams to use his first rope break. Williams kicked Yehi in the spine and landed a stiff forearm to the face. Yehi answered with a basement dropkick for a two count. Yehi caught Williams in the Koji Clutch again, but Williams used his second rope break. Williams hit a brainbuster for a two count.

AC/DC light up the stage in the new video for their first single since 2014, “Shot in the Dark.”
Directed by David Mallet, the clip places AC/DC in their true element — on a giant stage flush with red lights, where they rip through the stadium-sized rocker with ease, conjuring plenty of energy even without hordes of screaming fans.
AC/DC released “Shot in the Dark” earlier this month, announcing the song would appear on their 17th full-length album, Power Up, out November 13th. For the album, the band reunited with producer Brendan O’Brien,...

Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich recalls studying at the altar of AC/DC during an interview with Brian Johnson from an upcoming episode of the singer’s TV show, Brian Johnson’s A Life on the Road, airing October 13th on Axs TV.
AC/DC tapped Metallica to open for them on their 1991 Monsters of Rock tour, and in the clip, Johnson remembers the unique swing Ulrich’s drumming brought to their thrash metal sound. Ulrich, in turn, noted that the band’s roots were in bands like AC/DC, Deep Purple and Led Zeppelin.

Welcome to this week’s Ring Of Honor review, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and we have a wild main event that even Eric Bischoff would cut to save money, even though that’s not how that works.
Match #1: Silas Young defeated Josh Woods The following is courtesy of rohwrestling.com:
Before locking up, Young grabbed a microphone and told Woods that he’s been in Roh about two years and hasn’t accomplished anything. He said Woods should be winning titles and earning the respect of his peers but even the fans don’t respect him. Young said Woods has a lot of learning to do before he earns respect. He told Woods to put up or shut up. Young handed the microphone to the referee, and as the referee turned to hand it off to a ringside attendant, Young kicked Woods low and locked on an inside cradle.
