Last year, author R. G. Henning sent the book Sackhead: The Definitive Retrospective on Friday the 13th Part 2 – a 277 page book entirely dedicated to 1981’s Friday the 13th Part 2 – out into the world, and you can pick up a copy of Sackhead at This Link. Now Henning has turned his attention to the next sequel in the franchise, 1982’s Friday the 13th Part III, with the retrospective book Jason 3D: A Comprehensive Exposé on Friday the 13th Part 3, and copies are available for purchase on Amazon! The book is currently going for the price of $18.99.
Jason 3D has the following description: In 1982-83, the 3-D movie craze took the American box office by storm. Spurred on by new three-dimensional projection technology, Hollywood studios gambled on genre films. By 1984, however, most 3-D features had flopped, and audiences soon lost interest. But one unlikely contender managed to outshine the others—Friday...

It’s time for a new episode of the Real Slashers video series, and with this one we’re looking back at my personal favorite entry in my favorite franchise: Friday the 13th Part III (buy the franchise Blu-ray set Here). You can find out all about it by watching the video embedded above!
Directed by Steve Miner from a screenplay by Martin Kitrosser and Carol Watson (with some uncredited polishing by Petru Popescu), Friday the 13th Part III has the following synopsis: The third installment in the “Friday the 13th” series picks up on the day after the carnage with homicidal maniac Jason Voorhees stealing some clothes and killing a local store owner. Meanwhile, Chris and her sometimes boyfriend, Rick, are hosting a group of teenage friends at Chris’ lake house. Despite a run-in with a local biker gang, they enjoy an amiable weekend together — that is, until Jason...

The Friday the 13th franchise (buy the Blu-ray set Here) is my favorite horror franchise. And while Jason Lives: Friday the 13th Part VI is the movie I credit with making me a horror fan, my favorite entry in the series is actually Friday the 13th Part III. The film just celebrated its 40th anniversary last month, and to mark the occasion 2nd assistant camera operator Mako Koiwai shared a batch of awesome, never-before-seen behind-the-scenes pictures with the folks at Smoking Zombie Films. You can see these eight images, including an incredible shot of the filming of the alternate ending (where the heroine was going to be decapitated), in this Facebook post – click Here.
Thanks to Mako Koiwai and Smoking Zombie Films for sharing these pictures!

In Blood Was Everywhere, the nightmare of the unsolved, random murder is brought to life as a faceless killer wreaks havoc on the lives of average people in a small Massachusetts town. Blood Was Everywhere will have its world premiere on November 5 at The Green Room in Uxbridge, Massachusetts, where portions of the film were shot. Members of the cast and crew will be on hand for this special, intimate screening. The filmmakers will be taking their creation on a tour of independent theaters throughout New England in the coming months with plans for further expansion in 2012 before an eventual DVD release. The cast features Paul Kratka (Friday the 13th Part III), the late Larry Holden (Memento, Batman Begins) and a number of fresh talent, including Ashley Arnold, Kimberly Simone, Phil Ristaino, Vanessa Leigh, John Westcott, Dita Prenn, Adam Morey, Neal Howland, Ben Kirchmyer, Erin Lynch and Kevin Hayes.

A little news on an independent horror flick that is due to premiere next month. Blood Was Everywhere is about a killer on the loose in a small town in Massachusetts and will premiere on November 5th in The Green Room, Uxbridge Ma (where part of the film was shot). Judging from the trailer, which is posted below, I would think it is likely to go down quite well. Personally I am digging the atmosphere and use of the music, and surprisingly there isn’t blood everywhere. There is plenty in the trailer though to hint that the filmmakers haven’t skimped on the claret. Anyway, you can judge for yourselves.

A new slasher movie always excites me - no matter the quality. Sure the glory days are over, but that doesn't mean these indie filmmakers can't occasionally hit one out of the park, right? And these guys are from my hometown state of Massachusetts so what the hell? I'll gladly check this out.

Finally after a long wait (this was initially supposed to drop September 11th) we have some footage, but unfortunately, it doesn't really show much of anything. "Nuclear War has put the world in a state of hopelessness. The film focuses on a man and his memories of his life and how life used to be before the attacks that were unleashed, possibly by his own government. As nuclear winter sets in, the only thing that can keep him alive is his memories of better days from the past." To further qualify that, the main character played by Paul KratKa, hides out in an unused basement with his daughter. The full film will debut online for free on November 4th, we'll have a further announcement with site when available. The trailer is after the break and please let us know if you're having problems viewing it (in which case you can...

We reported on this short back in March and I've been watching it ever since. Director Scott Goldberg let me know yesterday that they're planning a free, online release on Thursday, September 11th figuring the subject matter would be appropriate. The short clocks in at about 6.5 to 7 minutes, and currently minor edits are being done. The film features Friday the 13th Part 3 alumni Paul Kratka as a man who witnesses a terrorist attack and looks to the past to find strength to survive through the horror that has been unleashed. Director/Producer Scott Goldberg talks about the film: "The main purpose of making this film was to create something original, truthful and from the heart. Usually with films of today we see filmmakers trying to copy their hero's. With this film I tried to reflect off the possibility and aftermath of a nuclear terrorist attack and the horrors that go along with war.
